How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the
FTC. - Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

They have been told many times over many years to stop calling and to remove my number, but they still call. I made one donation to a veteran's organization a few years ago and they sold my number, now everyone of those groups calls for money. Very disappointed in them.
I get at least 2 calls a day from this number. The odd thing is it says "Local Call" then the number. When I answer, there is no one there. How can I stop these unwanted calls. I have registered with the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY

I donated to the Vietnam Veterans several years ago, and have been getting increasingly obnoxious calls ever since. I've had the same experience as George: even after I have asked them to remove me from the list, they persist in calling.
They called here today. Caller ID said "local call" but since I didn't recognize the number, I didn't pick up and they didn't leave a message. At least I know who it is and still won't pick up.
They called, left no message. I added them to my "Zap This Caller" list, in my computer software that I have tied into the phone. Software is call "Call Center" is inexpensive and works great, eliminates this kind of hassle.
They keep calling but,leave no message.When we ask to be removed from their calling list.they call back and ask for my wife.
They call consistently representing different charities, many of whom appear to be non-existent.
they're using a smart autodialer. since i didn't pick up the first time the machine now hangs up after 3 rings to avoid my answering machine, and the connection charge. now i wait for the 3rd ring, pause and then answer to... dial tone. and i don't even have caller id!
Follow Up - they keep calling even though I've asked them to stop. I made a donation to the Vietnam Memorial fund and since then I get all these veteran's groups calling for more money. The Vietnam War ended a long time ago, I lived through it, so get on with life !!!They wonder whu we don't donate - because they sell our names and numbers !!!

thanks george i assumed it was a spam from a seller of something but you can not ask them to take you off their list, since they are a 'charity' the phone people (whomever) allows these calls to be made and not blocked so they will keep calling anyway

First time for me - July 30, 2007 - but now I know not to answer it.
This number kept showing up on my caller ID but never leaving a message - thanks George - now I know who it is.
They have called many times. We have asked to be removed from their list yet they still call. This is only one of the many veteran's gropus who call us, much like the various police groups.
