Got a call from this number playing an automated message allegedly from Capitol One. The automated message sounded weird, and the caller id had "Unknown Name". When it asked me to enter my date of birth, I hung up.
It's possible it is legit, as I did apply for a card recently, but I am not entering personal info on a call from some random number.
This is a legit phone number - verifying my new Capitol One account. (It is automated, though, so it does sound suspect.)
Yes, it is Capital One, customer service line. I just confirmed that. If you don't already have an account with them, the'yre probably calling to sell you one.
I too got a call from this number on my cell and it was legit. I had applied for an account and the fraud dept was calling to varify my date of birth...I confirmed with Capitol One as well. I'm not sure why the previous person would have received this call since they said they didn't open an account??
I got a call from this number on my cell phone. I answered it and it was an automated system claiming to be Capitol One. I don't have any accounts with them. It was asking questions about my identification and I hung up.
