How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the
FTC. - Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

It's definately HSBC and I'll be closing my accounts because they always call and never leave messages and hang up on me when I do pick up and say hi. I'm on the NO Call list, but they can get around that because I do business with them...but not after April 2008...I also suggest anyone who has accounts to close them because if enough people do then they may change their telemarketing practices. They also use the following numbers: 201-257-4535, 201-257-4537, 231-732-2865, 231-732-2866, 240-389-6635, 249-389-6635, 571-283-6424, 616-597-4101, 616-980-2537, 616-980-2085. If anyone knows other numbers, please list so we all will know.
HSBC Card Services trying to sell something?
Called, Mom answered. They asked for me. Mom said "who is calling". They asked for me again. Mom said "who is calling?". They hung up.
Too bad, I hope they call back again while I am home. >:)
My grandmother told me someone was very insistent about getting her social security number. She doesn't recall if she gave it to them or not.
My wife has an account with HSBC, but they have no reason to call us and insist it's not them. Also comes in as 2012574535, 2013738349 and 2403896635, all with some variant of "HSBC" or "Hackensack, NJ" in the caller ID.
I called the number back and they answered the phone "Light" something, but when I told them what number I was calling, they gave me their number and it was completely different.
Apparently some telemarketer spoofing caller ID.
We have been recieving calls from this company but when answered there is no one on the line. A few months ago my husband recieved a bill from this company and called the number onthe bill and told thm that he never applied for or owns the credit card and to cancel it. They call frequently since and use different numbers: 240-389-6635, 616-980-2537, 201-373-8349 and 616-597-4101.
