Gal indicated that she was with GC Services, working for the Dept. of Education, looking to verify employment on someone. Advised her that all employment verfications need to be submitted in writing to our office. She indicated that she was "just trying to avoid some paperwork". Told her that I was sorry, but that's the way it works, here. Her reply was "Too bad, thanks anyway", and she hung up.

General Collection Services is a known troublemaker and lawbreaker. The complaints here are but a fraction of the total. Comments from "Truth" are almost correct, except that not all collectors are debt buyers. Indeed, GCS is sadly the chosen attack dog for American Express when accounts are very delinquent and heading for charge-off.

Was actually home to receive this call they asked for my husband.(we have had a number of calls on the caller id never leaving a message.) I said"May I ask who is calling?" she repsonded Brittney. I gave phone to my husband and he could hardly hear her so he said he need for me to be on the phone. She asked if we new someone by the name of Tyrone Kirby. I said we did not and she ended the phone call. My husband tried to call the number back and it kept ringing.

These idiots keep calling my number for really no particular reason. I keep telling them to stop but they refuse acting as if they have important business to take care of.

Obviously these scum would like to speak with my husband. Whenever I answer, they hang up this has been going on for weeks now. This is after my husband made a requested phone call back to them from because of a nasty message left to call them back. Yesterday, again he told them no one by the name(yes it was him), lived at this number and we are on the no call list. He said he would take us off. This morning at 8:30 am, they called again, VERY ILLEGAL Whats the use in being on the don't call list??????????????

These days with the economy the way it is, there are many more unemployed who are willing to become collectors. The companies do not have to pay a salary since they are paid only on the suckers that they can coerce into paying them.

Remember, that if you deal with any of these jerks that even after you pay them, they sometimes still will sell your account to the next collection agency who will try to force you to pay again and again.

By the time any account gets to a collection agency, the agency has already bought the account for pennies on the dollar from the original lender (who has no interest anymore in collection on an account they have sold and written off). This is only about profit for collection agencies. That is all. Only suckers deal with them or pay them.

Just don't deal with any collection agency ever. Don't even talk to them, or it will be just the beginning of a long nightmare.

Regarding the commentary by "empty payments" below: That entry was most likely made by the loan collector themselves as another form of intimidation. The loan collector in question is a real bottom feeder with a terrible reputation. It would be best not to have contact with them at all. If you have the school loan debt just work directly with the Dept of Education and don't pay these loan collector sharks one penny.

Called & asked for someone I do not know. When I said there was no one here by that name, she said I know, this is the __ (my last name). Then said the name she had asked for is a possible neighbor of mine and said a street address for him that is not in my neighborhood. I told her I'd never heard of it, she thanked me and hung up. The number was on my caller id the day before also.

They are collecting for ECMC on college/school loans. If you don't call them back or set up a payment plan, then ECMC will just get a judgement on you for the government college loans. You can't get away from govt. loans, so I'd call this one back. I set up a payment plan with GC services for my past due school loan. My friend ignored them and promptly got a judgement/garnishment from ECMC ... I think I'll take the payment plan.

Caller asked if I was the Joe P with a certain last four of SSN. Told them no.

They called my fax machine. Good luck getting an answer! Since I have great credit and owe no one, I'm considering them a nuisance. They could be posing as a collections agency instead of being a real one. Who knows? I just know my fax machine isn't in collections... LOL

Got neighbors receiving calls from G C Services asking them to give me a phone number. Don't even know the neighbors and they were in their eighties and could barely walk up my stairs to my home. G C Services told them it was an important message that we needed to get in touch with them. Didn't identify themselves to the neighbors. After we called them they hung up on my wife and when I later called them the lady Semone lied to me and said she did not hang up on my wife. Then later that evening they called and asked for my wife by name and when she identified her thay hung up again.

They asked for me and then hung up. I believe this is the place that has been calling people in my neighborhood and asking them to have me call them. They contacted people who do not know us and one elderly couple was so worried that it was important that they drove a few blocks to find our address. The person could hardly get around. They don't care who they call and when we told them that they needed to stop harrassing people they got angry at us and said they could do what they wanted to. Now tonight they called asked for me by name and then hung up.

They have been calling several times a day. Caller ID says operations division. Today they left a message saying they needed to talk to me immediately about a complaint against me. That's why I looked it up.

This caller is looking for anyone and everyone who can supply information on someone they think you know, live near, work with, and they are just about as ugly in the harrassment department as anyone can get. These people are the dumpster divers of the collection world....evidently. Ignore the number if you get this caller. Furthermore, anyone you know will probably have their name up on caller id when they call. My neighbor has had calls from this number and she still has no idea who they are. She will now....

This company is bogus. GC Services is a supposed collection agency but offer no reasons for their calls. I have reported them at least ten times for harrassment.

'Heath' called and asked whether a person was there at this phone number. He claimed that the sought-for person had given this phone number of mine. It turns out the person sought was a past neighbor for whom I had no respect, had ruined our community, and whom would never be (have been) at this phone number. The neighbor's house had been sold last year and the sought person had not actually been living there for 1-3 years. I cannot tell whether they were fishing neighbors who may have harbored sought-for individuals, was a fraud on part on the sought-for neighbor to give my phone number as his own, or was harassment on the part of GC Operating Division to call me without any expectation of finding the sought-for person at my phone number. Nevertheless, Heath was not communicative. I note that this company had repeatedly been calling my household on caller ID for weeks now.

this person keeps calling my cell number and will not leave a message, will not tell me when who it is when I answer, simply asks if my name is correct.

They called and screamed at me in ebonic. They refuse to stop calling. What do I do?

They also leave threats on the answering machine about legal actions if you don't answer theier calls. They call on Sundays as well.

called for a cynthia themus. knew my surname, not me. said she'd put my residence down as a "referance" for something.

They missed on her name, but knew her address. When asked, refused to say who they were or why they were calling.

they call repeatedly for my husband and either won't say why they are calling, or say they are calling "in reference to an application he filled out," the first time they called they said it was student loan collections, now they just make stuff up to get him on the phone.

Calls come DAILY, as early as 8am... even on weekends. ID reads Operations Division, but I never answer. Getting VERY annoying though!

yet another GC Services. I'm going to also contact GC Services Affiliation's to inform them of this behavior from GC and tell them that they will no longer have my support.

These people called me looking for someone that has never lived here and I do not know the person they are asking for. I have told them on several occassions that they have the wrong number and that the person is not known in this area. It is always about a past due student loan. How can I stop this?

I just filed an FCC complaint. They have been calling for two years asking for someone that i don't know. I am so sick of these people.

They called today for about the fourth time today asking for a name I have never heard of and started screaming at my wife, so she just hung up. sounds like the standard identity fraud scheme. we are contacting an attorney tomorrow. Ill keep you posted.

Someone questioned my 13 year old daughter about her grandparents,etc...very concerning and I was forced to rush home because we thought it was very suspicious.

They are calling me looking for Yolanda. This started a week or so ago and the man was EXTREMELY rude when I told him he had the wrong number. The next day another person called and I told them to stop calling and they have the wrong number. Now every day since they call and hang up on me after I answer. I want this to stop!

Came up as a local number, from Operations Division, they asked for Tamara and when told it was a wrong number they said they would call back and hung up! I hope so. I have much yelled and guitar feedback for them when they do.

They called my home several times this morning. Caller ID said Operations Division, #614 759-8325. A woman asked if I knew one of my neighbors, gave his name. I said I didn't. Wouldn't tell me what they wanted, and when I tried to call them back, they hung up on me. They were very rude.

They origially called for my brother in NOV. It told them He didnt live at this number. They asked for his new number and I refused to give it out with out his permission. They have now called at least once a day since then from this number 6147598325 alls the CID says is Operations Divi. They better hope I cant link this number to them or lawsuit is flyin their way as we have asked them every time to stop calling.

12/27/2006. A young woman asked for "Tim Goodman." There is no one here by that name, and I told her so. Came from "Operations Division", 614-322-1797.

Asked for someone with the same last name as my maiden name. However, addressed my current name along with my husband. Said the person they were looking for was a relative of mine?? They left some code for me to reference when I have my so called relative call them back. I don't have a relative ny the name they were asking.

This number has been calling for months even though they say they are removing my numer from the files!!!

My Virgin Mobile cell phone number previously belonged to someone who defaulted on his student loans. Despite telling them this on many occasions, this group persists on calling regularly for "Jacob." It is very annoying.

Please hold for an important call. Then it hung up. A few days ago, they called and started screaming at my wife. she recorded it, but it was so bad that you could not tell what they were saying. We don't owe anyone anything, so don't know why they are calling, but it is a major annoyance.
