In an effort to prevent further calls from these 'people', I called back to request that my phone # be removed from their calling list. After 'wading' through the automated menu and pushing the # to tell them to remove my #, A long-winded explanation began of what they do and why they're exempt from 'Do Not Call' lists. I hung up without listening to all of the message. I really do have better things to do with my time than listen to recordings made by 'people' who have no consideration for any of us!

Ipsos is a reputable market research company -- I used to work for one of they're clients (a large bank). Since they're not selling anything, they don't have to use the US Do Not Call registry.
If you don't want to participate in their surveys, answer the call once and ask to be removed from their list, and ask for the person's name. If they keep calling, complain (with the rep's name) to inquiry@ipsos-na.com. Or send a letter to:

Woman called asking for tv viewers between 18-35 and said they were not trying to sell me a thing. I said I was older then that and then she asked if there was anyone matching that age range in the house and I said no and she said they were only looking for people in the 18-35 range and hung up. Looked up the number and someone said they were a company in Canada that mails you a 30 minute dvd to watch or something like that and then calls you later to ask about the commercials on the dvd if you match the age criteria I guess.

Recorded message explained that they were Ipsis Reid, a market research group, not subject to government's "Do not call" list requirements. But since I don't have voicemail or an answering machine, and I didn't want to hear it ring for several minutes, I picked up and disconnected. They called back again 5 minutes later and again, I hung up on them. I'm getting tired of these telemarketers calling from Canada to get around the DNC registry. I would change my number, but I'd probably just get calls for someone else. Marketing Research Companies should not have the right to contact anyone with unlisted numbers. The fact that our numbers on the DNC List doesn't mean they have a right to continue calling after a consumer tells them to quit calling. I received two calls from them within 24 hrs. The second time they called I told an actual live human, a man, that the number he called is unlisted and on the DNCL. I told him to remove the number from the LIST. I'm contacting my State and Congressional Senators and Reps, plus our governor, tonight via email regarding their need to fix the fallacious loophole that encourages this intrusion. These companies are clearly using unlisted private numbers for commercial gain and it needs to be stopped. It's entirely bogus!

I googled them and it seems they do all kinds of research for different groups including washington post and the liberal party. They asked my age, how often I watch TV and if I watch drama or situational comedy. They are going to mail me a video to watch on Nov 19, and they'll call me back on the 20th to ask my opinion about what I watched.

Most of the time, these calls use every-day "phishing" methods to obtain information for present as well as future targets. The more info. YOU give them, the more likely it is that you will receive additional calls. Lastly, most companies doing contracted telephone work (aka: telemarketing) use a computerized dialing/routing system. For a given period of time, and only for a specific client, the computer would be set to hang up upon ringing only three times or perhaps on only two, however many the client's contract calls for. If the operator isn't prepared to speak to the next call the computer has placed that answers, the system simply hangs up on that number and moves on to the next number. It will then retry all the numbers that didn't answer until a "status" exists on the entire list. With the advent of Dual Tone Multifrequency, it's been made more difficult for those gadgets like the "Telezapper" to function. So, to save you all some trouble, I'll happily share with you all a bit of a trade secret; if you will continually pressing the number 5 (five) on your keypad, the computer will automatically pick your number up as a non-connected line and kick your number out of the system as being "not in service". Yes, you will be targeted again later, but not for about three months.

After reading some of the comments on this site, I wish to remind those of you who also are on the "no call list" that these are not consdered marketing calls, because A.) at one time or another, someone had to have given your phone number to Ipsos, perhaps when they became a member of this company's survey community. B.) According to the FAQ found on their website, Ipsos does not simply make random calls, rather they only contact its own members. C.) The surveys being illicited though not solicited, are being asked, only of those whose number they have on record as being a "member". D.) They are generally automated survey response calls, which would also explain why no message is left.

I was not even at home to answer this call the first time the number was found on my caller ID system. No message was left and since we don't ever answer any unknown caller's attempts to contact anyone in our home, the call went unanswered the second time this number was used to contact us. very annoying, they don't leave a message. I answered but put the mute on so they can't hear me. All they kept saying was hello...hello and then hung up.

I called the number back and got a garbled recording. I finally understood to take the number off the list. It said it is done maually and will be removed in due time! Does it take a year to take my number off? I work all night, I am sick the rude asses that call and I ask to be taken off their list!!!! I still get 3 calls a day, and 3 times a day for almost a year I tell these brainless wonders to take my phone # off. I have filed several complaints. Call their helpdesk!! I never answer calls from "out of area" or "toll free" * O recommend you do the same.

A neat trick is to record your answering machine announcement to sound like a real person, like "Hello? ...(long pause)....Please leave a message." This will trick the telemarketer's computer (which is what is making the call) to think that a real person has answered, & a real operator will be put on, wasting their time.

Foreign Accent. Difficult to understand. Wanted to do a survey on the kind of TV we watch. I told him that we do not watch TV. Taken back, he replied, "But, Madam....everyone watches TV." Actually, yes, we do watch TV....have 12 TV's in our home....but, we are on the DO NOT CALL list and I do not want to deal with these people that call trying to hide behind their "Out of Area" disguises. Caller said they were looking for opinions and I replied I had plenty...then they asked if I was between the age of 34-54 and I replied I was not. They asked if there were any other females in the household in that age group and I replied, no my dogs are all male. So, they neither wanted my "old" opinions nor the opinions of my male Yorkies. I am on the do not call list. If this company is on the up and up? Than they shouldn't be calling my home. It doesn't matter if it's a sales call or a survey call. They all fall under the do not call rules. I will be notifying my phone company. I hope this company gets charges brought against them and fined like many others have. The do not call list was started for a reason and companys like this one needs to respect peoples privacy.

BUT HEADS UP TO ANYONE GETTING PHONE CALLS FROM IPSOS :

if you hang up, they will call back. Again and again and again.

If you don't want to be bothered you must said "please take me off your list" - If the staff does not hear the word "list" they WILL NOT REMOVE YOU. Phrases such as "fuck off" or "don't ever call me again" doesn't work! And you may be on a national DO NOT CALL LIST - but those apply to telemarketers and IPSOS is a survey company and they have their OWN Do Not Call list!

And if there is no answer when they call, they will call back.
If they ask for someone, and you say they are not there, or don't wan't to talk, they will call back.

They only way to escape them is to do the survey (IPSOS NEVER SELLS ANYTHING - ALL I EVER DID THERE WAS DO STUPID SURVEYS!)
or you have to tell them to put you on the DO NOT CALL LIST!

I just got the call, checked here first to see who it was. I do not answer calls that I cannot identify. I work at home and do not want to be bother.

I found this little gadget that I am in love with, especially if you have a phone with a bunch of satellites. It is an Interceptor ID. Since that number seems to be one that should not be calling me, because I am on every do not call list there is, I have saved the number to go directly to the answering machine without ringing any phone in the house. My call also in came in marked as Ontario with no message left.

Love this website. I have been getting calls for a couple weeks and don't answer. Ipsos is doing surveys for Onstar so if you recently purchased GM vehicle that is how they get your number. I responded to one of their online surveys but now receiving unwanted phone calls. I replied to their email survey and asked that they remove my name from the call list. We will see if it works.

If you don't answer or answer and just hang up, they will continue to call! They've called me every evening and Saturday and Sunday every 20 minutes for over a week. I sort of thought they'd give up. No such luck.

They are a legit marketing research firm, but the way they conduct their surveys is underhanded and manipulative. I don't play that way.

I told them on the phone to quit calling me. The phone continued to ring. So today I sent an e-mail to all three emails (see below), telling them that I have already asked them to stop calling. If they continue to do so, I will begin calling their toll free number continuously as they call my number continuously. I also told them because they do business in the U.S., I would be filing a complaint with the U.S. Attorney General's office if they didn't knock it off. It's 8 pm and no phone calls.

area code and saw it was from Canada. Their number was left on my caller ID.

I am on the DO NOT CALL registry, but apparently it doesn't apply to those north
of the border. If they were so intent on calling all the way from Canada, why

Do Not Participate In Their Survey!! They called saying they were doing an audience study for a new sitcom and asked me to participate. They said they would send me the disc, have me watch it and then phone the next day and ask me a couple questions to get feedback. I figured, why not? Big mistake. The DVD was legit - a rather average sitcom loaded with commercials. The next day they called and asked me one minute's worth of questions about the sitcom and 1 1/2 hours (97 minutes) of questions about the commercials, specifically a ton of questions about Carefree pantyliners, when and how I use them, etc... I was very inuslted and embarrassed - some strange guy calling me and asking if I use pantyliners for back-up to my tampons, for odor control, etc... Their whole approach was dishonest and shameful. I am disgusted by the company! Save yourself the migraine and DO NOT answer their calls!

According to many of the comments in this section the call originates from Canada, and is a surveyor; perhaps in both cases they're exempt? I don't know about that yet, but will find out soon. They have been calling, a lot. About half a dozen times today, and it's now 2pm. They always hang up after the 1st ring so that we get a dial tone when we try to answer. I find it annoying to pick up a ringing phone and have no one on the other end, besides the fact that I am on the national do-not-call list... I can't even tell them to quit harrassing me!

I received a call from them, no one was home, no message, no nothing, just a number with a weird name. I am on the Do Not Call list, so I went to the Do Not Call website (donotcall.gov) and filed a complaint there about this company calling me. I suggest that everyone else on the Do Not Call list do the same, maybe then some kind of action will taken, since the list is a government list they should try to enforce it more.

Received calls twice from this number on 1/19/08. First time (5:45 p.m.) it went to the answering machine as I was picking up the phone and the caller hung up. All caller ID showed was "OttawaHull On". That number called again at 7:15 p.m., this time caller ID showing "unknown call", "out of area". When I answered, the female caller said something that sounded like "audio". I'm tired of scam calls and didn't give her a chance to say more. I am on the national do-not-call list and find these calls annoying.

I got a call from this number last night around 4pm and then again around 530pm....didnt answer. Then got a call again tonite at around 4pm then again at 500pm. Finally answered and they asked for me by my actual name and wanted me to take a survey. They were foreign..and the ID message said Ontario,Canada. I looked this number up in the Canadian white pages and it says that it is a residence ,but wouldnt show an address. I also a few months ago was getting similar like calls,but from Iowa,would come up Iowa call and it too was a foreign voice and I wasnt able to call it back, said it was disconnected right after they called me. They have called me several times over the last few days but I let the answering machine pick up since I figured it was a telemarketer. I thought this would deter them. I am also on the do not call list. When they continued to call, I finally answered and heard their schpiel about how they weren't selling anything but wanted to ask some questions, blah blah blah (basically 'please excuse us while we invade your privacy without invitation'). No offense to the non-english speakers out there, but after reading here about this idea, I said, "eh...no english?" He said that wasn't a problem and what language DID I speak? I again repeated, "eh...no english...no english?!" He said thank you anyway, have a nice day, we won't bother you again. Nicely done! I've had no more calls from them. Faster than arguing about being on THE list, less hassel than waiting for a number to call to be removed, etc. Worked great!

With 828 reports and 418 comments to date, it's obvious that Ipsos Reid, whilst exempt from the DNC legislation (by virtue of being Market Research and also by calling from outside of the US) is bugging the hell out of a lot of people. From their own website (ipsos.ca) there is a very useful telephone number - 1-888-210-7425 - which you can call (use Skype or a payphone) and get further toll-free numbers to vent your frustration at. These Market Research companies are being paid by *someone* to waste *your* time and invade *your* privacy, so it doesn't really matter that they aren't trying to directly sell you something. Like "cm" said, it's no different to telemarketing. So, for each and every call you get, make them pay by Skyping back their toll-free numbers or complain from a freemail account to pat.daniel@ipsos-na.com and ken.rudnick@ipsos-na.com.

I know the laws are for telemarketers, but if someone calls my home as a marketing company on the telephone, in my book that is a tele-marketer! They call me to basically harass me, wake me up at all hours, interrupt and irritate the living **** out of me and they are being paid by a company to make money. I don't care if they are a survey, poll, etc...someone is making money somehow off this call, therefore I register the complaint anyway on the DNC list even if they are in Canada they are calling a U.S. phone number. If someone out there at IPSOS is reading this get the point from all the above comments WE DON'T want you to call us!!!! When I called back, I was able to bounce to a place where I was supposed to be able to remove my phone number from their database, but that option said the "removal box" was busy. I was never able to get through, so I guess my number, which is on the National Do Not Call list, is still in their database. I'm assuming there's some company in the US that is trying to get around the list by basing stuff in Canada.

My wife got a call from this number. They wanted to conduct a survey on Family Programming. The caller ask for my wife's age and then requested very specific information about our childern. At which my wife stated she was uncomfortable with giving that information. The caller then attempted the same question and again my wife stated she was uncomfortable. Caller had heavy French/African French accent; said he was taking a survey and wanted to know my age and what type of automatic dishwasher soap I used. He named a boatload of different ones, and when I said I only use Cascade, he asked if there were any other women in the household in the age range of 18-65 that he could speak with. When I said "No", he thanked me and hung up. Now besides being bothered by U.S. marketers, we have to put up with the Canadians, too?! Also, he called at 3:30 p.m. and 5:36 p.m. EST when we didn't answer the first time.

Just received a call from this number. It was a survey company taking a survey on what sanitary napkins are used in the household. A little gross if you ask me!!!

And before any one says it. . .survey/marketing research companies are not covered under the Do Not Call Registry, you have to personally tell them to be removed from their call list. If you do not believe me go to: fcc.gov and read who the DNC Registry covers and who they do not.

i was home by myself, and a man who was speaking super fast answered. in the background there was the sound of a work station. he said his business and what he does very fast, so i did not catch it. he then said i need to ask you some questions. i agreed. he asked if i was over the age of ten. i responded yes. he asked my age. it then ding donged me that this phone call was sounding fishy. My wife talked to these people from IPSOS N Am. They went through their shpeal about being a marketing research place and asked her if she would watch a DVD on december 2nd @ a certain time. She asked "Waht if I get it tomarrow do I have to wait until the 2nd of December?" and they said yes and at this certain time. They also said they would call the following day with a survey on the DVD. Which all the guy would say was it was about a new tv show that was being aired soon. Now my question is how are they going to know that I waited and that I didnt watch it sooner. sorry but this all sounds fishy to me and my wife. how do I know the thing isnt going to blow up, or there isnt some kind of poison on or in the case.

Answered today, Male caller slurred his words so that who he was and who is was calling for could not be understood. Caller is wanting female over the age of 18 for a survey regarding programing. Please call your local telephone company and ask if they offer the "selective call rejection" service. I pay less than $3.00 a month for this service and can add 31 numbers to my list. When these numbers try to call you they hear a message that they have been blocked. It works otherwise I wouldn't pay for it. The "do not call registry" is pretty useless. You get what you pay for.

be protected from fraud. if your computer dials up a long distance call, if someone scams you and uses

will get real rude and nasty if you call to complain that your elderly neighbor was scammed and has a $1500.00

I Googled the number and found this site. I called ATT, my service carrier, I pay to have this kind of call blocked. ATT was no help, at all, one might say they were rude and could have cared less. I will file a complaint with the Canadian Government on Monday. How long before Americans will be constantly bombarded with calls from outside the United States, to circumvent our DO NOT CALL list? If it weren't for needing internet access, I would not be paying ATT to fail to fulfill thier contractual obligations.

Caller ID said ONTARIO and my wife answered the second call at 8:00pm at night. They wanted to ask survey questions, but my wife refused. Their first question was "What is your age?" Sounds like a phishing scam to me. They just want to ask enough questions to steal your identity. Just like the two or three scam lotto's I win every single week.
They all ask for basic "name" "age" "occupation" and that's enough to steal your identity and bank account/s. If these A-holes call again, their really get an ear full of SH*T.

You can file a complaint with donotcall.gov but it won't do any good. If what the other posters here are saying is true and it's a telephone survey, they are exempt. Here is a copy and paste from the do not call website. I filed a complaint anyway, couldn't hurt.

this is a marketing firm used to gather information for Radio and TV companies in the United States they use this company as they are not governed by any of the rules that protect us in the United States...the do not call list does not protect us from Research firm inquiries only businesses are not marketing firms are punishable by the do not call list...lots of companies use these research firms to gain information and then increase your junk mail anyone who uses research groups online will end up getting these calls.

IPos is a marketing research company. If you have signed up on any paid survey sites, especially theirs, they have your number and when you sign up they ask permission to call for telephone surveys. If you have signed up to do marketing research on their site you can go to their website and modify your preferences to not receive phone surveys.

i answered 1st call was asked if would watch a dvd of a possible tv program on a certain day then answer questions about it the next day. When contacted, person calling could barely speak english i had to have her repeat questions several times. most questions were not about program but about commercial, specifically dixie cup products, after about 45 minutes i advised caller had enough if they want that much info should advise up front lenght off time to take survey. I WILL NOT BUY DIXIE PRODUCTS EVER AGAIN.

just to let people know, the 'do not call' lists can not block international calls and since this number is calling from ontario, it will go through everytime. there is also a number from charlottetown, prince edwards island in nova scotia that has started popping up in my area. i work at a telephone company and have found that the only way to get these numbers blocked is by selective number blocks which is where you have your phone company set up a certain number that you do not want to allow through to your phone, it only works if you have the phone number, (which in this case you do) and generally has a monthly fee

Got a call from 613-688-3625 showed up as OTTAWAHULL ON. It seems to be a TV marketing research company wanting opinions about a new sitcom. I was told they would send me a DVD for me to watch on Wednesday August 21st and they would call back for my opinion on the 26th in my chosen time slot. These companies are exempt from the do not call list as they are not selling anything but are gathering research data. The real annoying thing was that the woman insisted on verifying thing using call letters Charlie-Echo-Foxtrot etc. She was very polite though and spoke better English than most on my nieghbors.

I have caller ID and saw a Canada call. I called the number back from my cell phone (with the number blocked). The recording said they are a research firm, not selling anything...that is why they are not obligated to the "Do Not Call" registry. They did ask if I wanted to opt out of their research, I put my number in to opt out. Thankfully I have called ID, so I know not to answer should they call back.

Reading these posts is kinda creeping me out some. First, ladies, don't ever say the man of the house isn't home. Not available sure, but not home, no, be smart! Who knows what weirdo is on the other end of the line :/ Second, why would someone target an audience of 50-75 y/os, seems a rather odd demographic to be interested in. (No offense to those in this age group, just it's not your typical survey fare). Perhaps some sort of scam going on? Maybe they're legit, but red lights are definitely going off with these guys.

I just received 2 phone calls from this "company". I have reported a complaint with the Do Not Call Registry, as I am ON the Do Not Call Registry. I don't care whether they are doing a "survey" or what, they are irritating, a nuisance and deserve to get flagged in some way. Just go to the Do Not Call Registry (if you're registered with them) and file a complaint. I'm sure that even if they are doing "surveys", with enough complaints registered, maybe it will have them cease and desist the annoying, irritating, nuisance phone calls.

two calls from this company in one hour showing up on caller ID. no message. doesn't matter if you are on "do not call" list, our government likely has no jurisdiction over Canada. OR Mexico..great way for sleazy US companies to bypass the do not call list!! just set up a number in Canada or Mexico so they can't be touched. Very possibly a US company trying to avoid regulations/prosecution. Report them anyway to donotcall.gov, if you are on the donot call list.. and if they are associated with a US company they may get shut down, worth a try.even for "research/surveys" more than one call per 24 hrs is considered harassment and can be dealt with..please report!

Ipsos is a marginal company at best and like all surveyors, you only use their info if it fits your side of the argument. Here is their contact site.
ipsos.com You can type them a message, hit send, hit back on your browser and continue to resend the same email as many times as you want without retyping. Does it work? Dont know but it makes me feel better.

They called once when I wasn't home. Second time, I picked up Fri afternoon and the woman asked me to answer a survey. Said they were looking for people on the 50-75 year range. I answered a couple of questions then said I didn't want to continue when they started asking about what vitamins I take. I forgot to ask them to remove me from their call list. These people are relentless. I have recieved one call every 8 minutes for the last two hours. I never answer. I have taken to forwarding the calls to my cell so that I can 'ignore' the calls as soon as they ring. Otherwise, my home answering machine does not pick up till five rings - after which they hang up. Was just about driving me crazy. They have called every day for the last two weeks but never as often as today. The calls stopped abruptly at 9pm.

The do not call law is a UNITED STATES LAW and therefore does not apply to countries outside the US like Canada and another popular one - Cayman Islands. Don't answer, they will eventually stop calling. Also, as others stated, they are survey and are exempt from the law even if they were in the US.

For those complaining about getting calls from this number despite being on the Do not call list: READ THE FREAKING GUIDELINES FROM THE FTC regarding the National Do Not call List! Just got a call from this number said Ontario call on the caller I.D.
They claim to be a national research company as they doing a study on T.V. shows. What they going to do is they going send you DVD's and you watch them. As day after you watch them they put your name in a drawing for hundred dollars.
Most likely the drawing is a list they give to other "research companies"

I'm thinking the Do Not Call list is only for companies in the USA. Now if the Company is from Canada, Mexico, China, UK, India or anywhere else. I don't think the list complies for them

Thank goodness we have the ability to block certain numbers using our internet phone service for free.(nctv.com) This guy calls. I answer, and this guy is like "Hi." Then gives a creepy laugh and says "hi" again and then hangs up. I call back the number before adding it to blocked calls. My prompt on the phone reads. Gatineau QC. I call and the prompt says Thank you for calling Ipsos marking research we are a market research company and not involved in sales of any kind. (paraphrased). I am also on the do not call list. If you pay to have calls blocked, I read another message on this page where a guy said that he had to pay to have these calls blocked and felt sorry for him. There are internet services out that for free will allow you to punch in a number and block a caller and this service is free of charge. We only pay like $14.99 a month for our phone service also. And all the extras are free. I am not affiliated with these companies I am only mentioning this in hopes that the guy who left this message is able to read it and checks around to find a better phone service. Anyway. These people seem to be harmless while at the same time managing to be annoying and in my case they didn't even speak except to say hello and hang out on the line. So...I guess I personally felt a little bit creeped out by them. So..personally I have to say I think my first impression of them is that they are unprofessional.

Despite my number being on the no call list, this number has called me twice so far. Not recognized, not answered. Next time I'll pick up the receiver and lay it down till they hang up. I think if a lot of people do that it will tie up their system too long for each call and they'll take your number off their list. I've tried this technique with 800-number calls from overseas and it works for me...

I have some idea what’s going on here. 1) Ipsos is a real survey company like Gallup, but in Canada. They could be calling us about any number of issues. 2) Being on a *national* do-not-call list does not affect *international* callers – duh. 3) There is no place called “Ottawahull”. Saying “Ottawa-Hull” is just like saying like “San Francisco – Oakland”. They’re two separate cities connected to each other by a bridge.

I got a call from this Ottawahull, Ontario number a few days ago. They hung up at first.

Then, a few days later, they called up and called themselves "Global Health" and wanted to ask us a few questions about our yearly income. The woman had an "ethnic" sound but not one that I could recognize. I could barely hear her, and hung up.

Today, the same company called again (same Ottawahull number) and asked me if I wanted to view a tape. I told them I was not interested.

Annoying company.

My mother had the unfortunate job of a telemarketer a few weeks ago (she only worked a few weeks).

She says the best way to stave off telemarketers is to act like you don't speak English. Most "research" companies do not care to invest their employees time in non-English speakers.

Unfortunately way too many telemarketers are using this "research" and "charity" loopholes. A company only needs to donate 4% to be considered a charity and exempt from the Do Not Call List.

Also, a heads-up to job-seekers: an "appointment setter" is a telemarketer. My mother was not told that until she was hired.

I have received phone calls from this number, registering as "Ontario" in my caller ID. When I do pick up the phone, they immediately hang up. Has happened often. I tried calling back once, got their automated phone message, selected "do not call" option, it hung up halfway thru. I turned it in to the FCC "Do Not Call Registry" - and when I received my phone bill, found I had been billed $5.00 by this company for the phone call. I contested the charge, and since I had a screen print of my complaint to the Do Not Call Registry, was able to get the charge removed. However, the hangups may be an attempt to get you to call them, then charge you extra money. Just a heads up. . . They still call, but less frequently, and I report it each time.

They have called a couple of times but have not left a message. All that shows up on Caller ID is "Ontario". A reverse phone search on WhitePages.com shows only they are located in Ottawahull, On; and theirs is an unpublished listing.

Yes, the old research loophole. Just have marketing conduct a study! If this is a legit research company they won't bother you again if you ask them to put you on their no-call list. They get paid for completing surveys not wasting time with uncooperative numbers.
Reason why you get no answer when you pick up the phone is that a computer has dialed you and is waiting to connect you with a human. Your answering the phone at all tells them that they have a good number and they will just keep calling. A computer call also can indicate they could be searching for numbers to add to their list that will then be sold to other researchers. Just picking up the line now gets you dozens of other calls from other numbers. This number calls me every 90 days to verify. My outgoing message plays disconnect tones, the computer records me and tries again in 90 days.

This number flips to Ipsos Marketing Research of Onterio, Canada. I did not answer, but sources on other sites advise that Ipsos says they do not come under No Not Call laws because they are a "Research" company.

Have received two to three calls yesturday and today from this number and they left no message. Didn't call the number back because of all the phone scams going on. One particular one going on right now involves you calling this Canada number back-AND getting billed $3,000 per minute to your phone bill. The worst part is that you are RESPONSIBLE for paying the bill dispite it being a scam! Don't call them back for your own safety.

I never registered with this "market research company" & this is one of the main reasons WHY. Just tried calling the number back and received informtion that this call is coming from Ipsos marketing research. It is not a sales call. I'm actually an online member of Ipsos for taking surveys online. They are located in Canada.

How do I stop them from calling?

  1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
  2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
  3. Block them with a call blocker:
