How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the
FTC. - Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

Have received several phone calls from this number over several months; never leave a message. Tried unsuccessfully to track number down. Would like calls stopped.
Telemarketers from Canada are not bond to the US Do Not Call List!
Canada does have their own National Do Not Call List, however US phone numbers can be put on their list. I've tried.
Received a call from these people today, and they did not leave a message on my voicemail. The caller ID said Canada.
No one on the line when I answered.
Just a silent or hangup call.
Caller ID is Ontario, no message
These are not legitimate telemarketers and they are not violating DO NOT CALL lists. They are crooks who use what is called a "spoof card" that lets you disguise your incoming phone number for caller ID. If they get you on the phone they ask for your credit card info to carry out an identity theft
The ONLY way to stop this is to have the FCC outlaw and shut down the sales of these spoof cards, as they are essentially allowing people to falsify a legal communication record
If you want to get back at the people at the top of this fiid chain, go to Google and type in "spoof card" then click on the "sponsored link" which costs them money every time a new IP address clicks on the link to their web site

Wanted my credit card numbers in order to lower my interest rates. Hung up on me when i told him i wouldn't give him my cc numbers.
Called today from Ottawa Ontario. I guarantee it's a sales call.
It's a scam. Shows 613-216-2172 "Ontario" on caller ID. They are tryomng to get your credit card information. File an online complaint with the FTC here:

This is a criminal operation to steal your credit card number (Visa Mastercard are two different companies you know) . . . do not call them back! Report these calls to the FCC at donotcall.gov

Since phone number is registered in the do-not-call list (5+ years); I have to assume that these guys are not legit.
"Eric answered" and hung up before I got more than one word in. Unfortunately, modern technology has outpaced social and legal ethics... again.
Sounded like a scam. I asked them to be removed from call list and they hung up. Never give Credit Card info to anyone on phone.
They hung up on my anwering machine.
Now these loser telemarketers (on lowing credit card rates) are sending out their spammy recordings from Ontario? Isn't this illegal? So much for the "Do Not Call List". :(
from what i can find out . it is a mortgage scam regarding " obama's refinancing mortgage help". in the canadian postings , they list it as a scam and warn others to just hang up. like we need to import more scam scum from Canada! Our do not call and existing laws seem to be unimportant to the Canadian government so be wise and hang up. Report it to the donotcall.gov site takes just a few minutes.

called cell phone again - sales pitch was for credit card interest rate reduction for all Visa/Mastercard holders
Caller stated that I had been specially selected to participate in a national town hall teleconference to discuss health care issues, and would be automatically connected to this teleconference that was already in progress. This was followed by a speaker talking about Medicare and private insurance.
There was a recorded message saying that Pres Obama has issued a stimulus program for lenders to except a loan modification. Press 1 to speak with someone to see if you qualify, or press 9 to be removed from the calling list.
I pressed 1 and was transferred to a man.
I immediately asked him what company he is with.
He replied FHA.
I replied, I didn't know FHA was doing those.
He immediately hung up.
