First party collectors can turn into maniacs because they know not many states have broad debtor protections like California, Texas, and I believe Wisconsin. If you're being falsely accused or just part of a skip trace, you might get FDCPA coverage but I'm fuzzy on that issue. Complaints to FTC and your AG certainly won't hurt you.

Another credit card company that thinks calling me repeatedly will magically allow me to pull money out of my @$$.

2010-10-27 17:32:32 UTCjoey

i know im behind and i send them money but i can only send so much when i get paid. they call my cell everyday this is after i send money to them. someone should do something about this who do we write to to stop the calls?

2010-07-22 23:20:25 UTCbabs o

that was supposed to read 8-9 times a day not 809

2010-07-22 23:19:42 UTCbabs o

They must call 809 times a day. Don't know why I don't have an account with them.

2010-07-20 19:28:04 UTCcr

They keep calling my work number - don't use their card so the collection dept should not be calling.

2010-04-09 16:53:49 UTCKJ

Recieve at least 15 calls a day from this number.
They never leave a message.
I do not answer calls that are out of my area code as everyone I know is local here where I live.
If they would leave a message I would happily call them back.

2010-02-05 02:41:37 UTClaura

It's easy. I have a pay as you go cell phone that I give only to creditors. I don't use this phone. Never have. Never will. I only use it to call creditors if there is an issue so it's the only number they have on file. My cell phone is under my boyfriends account so they have no clue how to reach me otherwise. After the phone fills up with messages THEY get a rejection message and I continue to make my payments according to the repayment arrangements I set up over a year ago. They can call until they are blue in the face and I never even know it.

2010-01-20 00:02:28 UTCAnon

If it's Target, I know I missed my payment, but they've got to wait for me to get paid before I can pay them. *L*

2009-12-31 16:31:03 UTCmaria

Probably Target, I'm probably late with a payment.

2009-09-11 17:27:24 UTCsharon

I have NEVER had a Target VISA or any card from Target! They call my after-hours emergency cell phone (which belongs to my WORK)daily. I certainly don't owe them money now or ever in the past. They must have the wrong number but I only get a recording and I can't actually speak to someone to get them to stop calling.

2009-08-12 22:15:23 UTCjadziadax

You say they stop calling when you've paid your bill. This is bull$&!%. I paid this month, and they still continue to call... Which is fine, because they will continue to get my voicemail until they give up. Either that, or I will start picking up/hanging up on them until they get the point....

2009-07-11 15:56:07 UTC19064

Called on Saturday at 11:50 am. Rang 4 times and stopped before answering maching picked up.
I don't have a Target Visa.

2009-06-06 18:19:46 UTCBeverly

This is the Target Visa. They call when are you one day late to get their payment.

2009-05-02 16:00:59 UTCdcf

So glad I have caller ID. Thanks, everyone, for identifying these a-holes. Don't know why they're calling me (8:30 Sat. a.m.) and they didn't leave a message; my account is current.

2009-04-14 20:01:51 UTCjudy

they have called 2 x's today for 2 different people. I don't have any debts!

2009-03-12 00:04:08 UTCJoe Pinto

From all comments it would be best for everyone with a Target card or account join the ranks of HSBC, Well's Fargo, BOA & Citi customers, JUST STOP PAYING! Haven't they all scammed enough in bogus, fraudulent and deceptive practices. When will taxpayers realize the last 8 years were all lies? Look at the Madoff scam, the only money lost was what was actually invested, the profits or dividends were imaginary, therefore unclaimable. The cc companies live by the same fairy tale. The balance is never real, it's a vision. The only real tangible is the merchant purchase.

2009-03-11 17:40:11 UTCKeely

It's Target Visa. My payment was due on a Sunday (nice, huh?)and it wasn't posted until Monday because you can't schedule a payment for a Sunday. By 9:00 a.m. Monday morning they were calling me telling me my payment was late. Apparently they can't check their system for pending payments.

2009-03-10 06:10:41 UTCC

TARGET-
Paid $100 ($28 short of the minimum payment), and they call me 2 days later!!
They're a joke. Calling me for $28 freaking dollars, are you serious.

2008-10-03 00:13:15 UTCsassy 08

paid them 100.00 in june and in july but july's was two days late and in august they put a late charge on my account and it keeps growing because I will not pay the late charge as the 100. should have taken the 39.00 with the hundred.

2008-10-03 00:10:18 UTCsassy 08

calling about late charges on an account that is closed. Made two payments of 100.00 when dues amount was 25.00 and they still charged me a late fee.

2008-09-25 19:42:58 UTCMj

Target Visa.
I talked to them this week about payment plan and she said the collection calls would stop while on it.
As of now, they have called everyday anyway!

2008-09-25 19:31:03 UTCtim

2008-07-19 00:22:51 UTCNLW

Definitely Target Collections. Not having a collections problem myself, but I inherited these harassing phone calls from the DB who had my cell number previously.

2008-07-18 00:32:54 UTCElizabeth

Three days in a row I've been woken in the morning by them. I don't have a frickin Target Card!!

2008-06-13 16:08:18 UTCmj

Target Visa collecting payment- will call home phone and cell phone 4-5 times a day :(

2008-06-13 01:38:22 UTCShelly

These people call at least four times a day and I'm about to give them an earfull. EXTREMELY ANNOYING!!!

2008-06-07 04:23:32 UTCMelanie

I dont have a target visa or target card nor have i ever applied for one

2008-04-04 13:21:10 UTCKim

They call and call and call. Even though I spoke with them and told them I paid my bill thru bill pay and they should receive it within 1-2 days. Very desperate!

2008-04-01 21:36:58 UTCrebawebber

did not leave a message

2008-03-21 19:26:40 UTCNay

I called the number back and talked to the service manager. I tried to explain to him that he was the 3rd person I talked to and since the call was meant for someone else that I don't know that if they continued to call it was harrassment. He told me it wasn't harrassment because he wasn't the one calling me and hung up on me. So I'm logging all the calls now (it's my cell phone, so it's easier) and I'm going to file a harrassment complaint with the county.

2008-03-19 02:32:40 UTCMary

Thiss number calls my cell phone almost daily and today has called 4 or 5 times. Some of the calls are within 30 minutes of each other. I answer and no is on the other end. I do not have a Target Visa and my account has been closed for over a year. I'm going to report this number to the Do Not Call Resgistry. This is ridiculous!!

2007-12-14 18:55:35 UTCJennifer

They called here and hung up on me several times. Our card is current, too. So wierd.

2007-09-05 12:43:41 UTCbob

probably target- they never leave a message

2007-08-27 14:20:27 UTCSusan

I don't even have a Target credit card. Hmmmmm . . . nevertheless, they call.

2007-08-22 13:56:15 UTCAnnoyed

Got a call from them today and they asked for someone that doesn't even live here. Idiots.

2007-08-02 01:16:58 UTCT

Another call from Target Collections. Been calling for a week now, for what I don't know...have a $0 balance and have had a $0 balance for over 1 1/2 years. This is the 2nd number they call from. The other number ends in 5811. Is there something I can do about these calls?

2007-07-17 23:03:02 UTCBarb

I keep getting calls from this number. They don't leave a message. My husband called them back one and they say we owe money on a Target Visa (but we don't) We tell them to send us a statement and we will gladly pay it, but they don't send a statement and they keep calling. The addess they have is one where we have not lived for over 5 yrs. What can I do to keep them from calling me?

2007-06-01 14:40:04 UTCmel

they somehow got my cell phone #. they don't let up, and never even leave a message.

2007-05-16 05:10:33 UTCdave

i dont have a visa card or a target card so how did they get my number

2007-03-09 07:22:04 UTCWTF

these people harass you even AFTER you are on an automatic payment plan with the credit counselors!!

2007-02-19 16:05:04 UTCJames

Calls all the time. It's for the collection dep. for Target Visa card. Pay up and they stop calling. I still have yet to do this myself

2007-02-01 08:25:02 UTCLISA

I AGREE..U GIVE THEM A TIME TO CALL BACK AND IT SEEMS THEY JUST CLICK ON THE COMPUTER TO REDIAL

2006-11-09 17:57:23 UTCme

hangs up and calls alot

How do I stop them from calling?

  1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
  2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
  3. Block them with a call blocker:
