Here is how you can stop all these calls.

Before it goes to voice mail, pick up and then hang up.
The computer will then skip you next time because it will think the call was successful.

These calls are all computer generated and they call three at a time and the first one to pick up gets answered which is why you sometimes get the ghost effect.

But if you can trick the computer into thinking the call was made, it's worked for me!

Don't even talk, just answer then press the disconnect button.

I hadn't received calls from this number until today. I believe it is the same people who were calling from a local number here 402-218-1290. I looked up that number on Google and found another phone number search site that reported that it's a company called Call Meyer and they do political surveys and other surveys. It said you could visit their website, callmeyer.com to be removed from the calling list. I have called them (while put on hold forever), emailed them, and when they called again - the last time was yesterday - I yelled at them not to call back. I realize they are a political, or whatever else they do (looking at the website they have a lot of clients), and don't have to abide by the do not call list, etc. Anyway, this seems like the same tactics to me - and probably the same people.

Okay, listen up people. . .The DO NOT CALL LIST does NOT cover the following. . .
1. Political Calls
2. Fundraising organizations that call on behalf of non-profit organizations
3. Research/Marketing Survey companies
4. Companies that you do business with or have done business with.

You must answer your phone and tell these people to remove you from their internal call list. You can report these calls as much as you want to the Do Not Call Registry, but since these companies are not covered you are wasting your time!!!! You can however, get this companies address and send them a letter stating that you want your name removed from their call list. Send the letter certified/return receipt requested. If they call again after they have received the letter, you can take them to Small Claims Court. You do not need a lawyer, court cost are below $30.00, but you can be awared $500.00 or more. Remember to document and keep copies of everything, including any messages that may be left on your answering machines.

They call several times a day for a couple of weeks now. I only answered the last two times they called. The first time I was told they were calling for the Veterans of Foreign Wars and wanted to thank me for my support. I said "You're welcome" and hung up. They called the next morning while I wasn't home and as usual they left no message. They called later the same morning once again identifying themselves as the VFW. The "lady" got a bit surly and did her best to loudly talk over me while I told her I had already been thanked so she needn't call anymore. Up until recently, I have been keeping a a list of numbers I do not recognize. I am on the National Do Not Call list. My son finally convinced me that I need to answer these calls and ask to be taken off of their lists. I can't tell you how much better (and quieter) things are in my home. He was right, it does help quite a bit. However,, there are some who just do not get the message. This is one of those numbers. (602-388-8058. The first time they called today, I answered but no one responded, so I stayed on the line for awhile and then finally hung up. Tonight they called again. It is (at least this time) it is the RNC. I told the young woman that I would no longer be contributing to the RNC, but only to individual candidates of my choosing. I also told her that I have asked that my name be removed from their list on several occasions. I'm going back to keeping a spreadsheet on these unsolicited calls.
If anyone figures out a legal way to start a class-action suite against these people, I want to know about it. I'm sick and tired of this crap, and want my privacy back!!

If you see the number on your caller ID it is from a telemarketing company. They claim exemption from the federal do not call list. There is a loophole in the law. I've received multiple calls per week, each time representing a different organization.. a disabled veteran group, an abused women group, etc, so apparently they are contracted to represent a variety of concerns. Since non-profits are immune from the "do not call" list I was given the option of leaving a message asking them not to call either for a specific agency (they've never left a message saying what "agency" they're calling me for) or for all agencies. Caller was a woman asking for support for a Pro-Life Organization - MDS I think. She stated that Barbara Boxr had just introduced a bill that was going to attack rights of unborn children. Caller said Boxer had upport from Hillary Clinton and about 20 other senators. She also stated that there were 100 house reps backing the bill.

She proceeded to ask me for my credit card information which I declined - (always do this!) I told her to send me information in the mail and I will donate then. They verified my address information over the phone.

I researched the web for any information about abortion bill and barbara boxer - I did not find anything recent. This is probably a hoax!

I have been receiving two to three calls a day from this Arizon number--from the morning hours to as late as 9 pm. If I don't answer, they do not leave a message. If I do answer, they hang up. Awful.

I just recevied another call from this number. I was quite distressed by it because they were representing one of my favorite organizations, The Navigators. When I asked about getting calls from different organizations from the same number, I was told the name of the company is DMS and they conduct telephone solicitations for a number of charitable organizations such as Right to Life and Navigators. I love the Navigators and will continue to support them but am a bit distressed that they are using a telemarketer to do their work. So, for those who are interested in supporting certain groups, this call is likely legitimate. I think from here on I will not answer the phone but instead communicate directly with the Navigators by mail. That's my response after today. Of course, you get to decide for yourself.

I called the MDS company today at (480) 752-8140, and spoke to an operator. I explained how frustrating it is to get these calls over and over on caller ID, then to get the quick hang-up when the spouse is not home. I suggested that they visit this web-site to learn how their methods are being received by the general public (being their potential donors). Their stand is that their clients (the non-profits who hire them) have requested that they not speak with anyone but the established donor. However, I expressed that the practice of hanging up on the other spouse, or even on children who might answer the phone in their absence, is creepy. Frankly, it's rude. They claimed that my experience was unusual, and that the callers were being up-front and polite with customers, but I referred her again to this web-site, to see that this behavior seems to be the normal pattern. Hopefully this will be helpful to them. Turning off potential donors is not helpful to their clients.

MDS. They make calls for a VARIETY of non-profit organizations. They are exempt from the "No Call List."
If you call them back, you will hear a message about what to do to get OFF of their calling list. I just did it today so I do not know if they are on the up and up or not yet.

I finally called and talked to an operator from MDS. I asked what their company does (raises $ for Christian and conservative groups). I told her that I am a Christian. . .and I am so frustrated by their calls. . .I told her that it's too bad that an organization that raises money for a lot of things I believe in is causing so much frustration to the people that they are calling! We get calls from this number almost every day. The reason they don't answer right away when you say helly is because they are using an auto-dialer which dials multiple numbers at the same time and when someone answers one of the numbers they have dialed that call is routed to a telemarketer who sees our name appear on their computer screen. Almost any time you answer your phone and there is a delay before someone answers you back, that's what is going on. When that happens to me (no matter what number shows on Caller ID) I just hang up.

I received so many hang-ups on a daily basis that I finally conceded to having caller id put on my line. I will never answer a call from this number again and I'm calling the phone co. to ask if I can have this number blocked from calling our line. There have been two calls from this number in the last 2 days...one in the morning and one in the afternoon. I will not be answering the phone if they call again. Thank you to all of the previous posters, I am thankful for this site. I am tired of them calling me and hanging up on me. I have better things to do than deal with that multiple times a day.

I called the number and told them to put me on all their do not call lists. To my understanding they only have one "excuse me" call after that even if they are a charity. After that, you can take them to small claims court for not abiding by your wishes. When I tell any "charity" this, they do not ever call back. The other thing you can do is request that they send you a copy of their "do not call" policy. I am also under the impression that if you request it and they do not send it, they are in violation of the law and you can take them to court. I am not an advocate of this as I think lawyers are weasels for the most part. SO maybe just go with the idea of telling them to hang on and then just put the phone down.

I received about 5 calls in 2 hours probably because I didnt answer the call. I called the number back and there is a recording telling you they are MDS and they do calling for all types of fund raising companies and charities. You can leave your phone number and they will purge you from all their lists. I left mine since they already have it and will see if it really works. The message said it could take up to 2 weeks to purge it from all the lists. Good grief!!!

I found a way to get them to stop calling.

After getting 8 calls in 60 minutes from them yesterday, I called their main number, 480.752.8144. I asked for the President of the company, and ended up in the voice mailbox for Jay Mount. I left a message explaining that I'm tired of getting calls from their company, and that I've asked them in the past to remove me from their lists. I also mentioned the 8 calls in 60 minutes and that I'm ready to contact the Arizona State Police and the Arizona Attorney General if this harassment continues. This afternoon I received a call from Jay Mount's Executive Secretary who apologized multiple times and guaranteed me that my number will be removed from their lists and that an IT glitch caused the 8 calls in 60 minutes. The IT glitch has supposedly been corrected...

Assuming that I don't get any additional calls from this company, I am impressed that they got back to me and were willing to address my concerns about all of the calls I was getting. I shouldn't have had to go through all of that to get removed, but at least they seemed concerned that I wasn't happy with their company.

People know that surveys and fundraising / charity calls are exempt from the do not call list. That doesn't mean we have to like it... Maybe one day we will get elected officials that are willing to give the people what they want, specifically a do not call list that applies to everyone, not a list that doesn't apply to the "friends of the government officials".

It says "wireless caller" tonight they called again and I answered, they would not say who they were or why they were calling except they wanted to talk to my wife. We get tons of these calls and just started getting calls from this number again today. It shows up as "out of area" on caller-ID. We have anonymous call rejection, so the call is just dropped. These are often predictive dialers. They call 3, 4, or however many line they have at a time. When someone answers, the call is switched to a telemarketer. IF it calls 3 different numbers and only 2 telemarketers are available, a call gets dropped, probably yours since you say no one is there.

Same experience as many others here. They call many times and never leave a message. After reading about that number here, I was finally ready to answer the phone. It was MDS, representing themselves as paid telemarketers for the Union Gospel Mission. The Mission is a reputable organization that does good work, but their MDS hired gun read the script in a loud, desparate way and would press on with the script after the two times I requested to be removed from the list, without addressing my request. It is sad that the Mission has this rude, overbearing telemarketing service raising money for them, because they caused me not to donate. The telemarketer was so impolite, interrupting me to continue their script, that I had to hang up.

Cancer Soc.(She knew my street name) I thought it was legit, but then she said they get a better response if I go around to each neighbor and collect the money in person and send it back to her. These types of calls are exempt from do not call list which is for commercial calls only.

if want to be removed leave them your number after the beep and they will begin purging your name from their lists. This may take several weeks. If there is a specific charity you want removed from leave that name also.

I got that 602 388 8058 number on my C-ID yesterday. MDS is a fraud. It is not a real company. Just because it has a website does not make it legit. Anyone can put up a fake site in a matter of minutes. Whoever is calling you from that number is phishing to get your all of your critical information to steal your identity. Report the number to the government via DoNotCall.gov. There will be many more of those calls in the near future. It's a shame people don't try to make an honest living anymore. Again, don't fall for it ... report it.

We have been getting 2 calls per day from this number, but today was the last straw. Their number stayed connected to ours, even though we didn't answer. Our answering machine stayed connected to their phone line, forcing our line to disconnect. With elderly parents, I need to keep the lines open. It took 30 minutes on my cell phone to the phone company to determine what was wrong, and then my modem for my Internet service had to be re-connected to get the line back in service. I have now updated my 'do not call registry.' Heaven help the schmuck who calls tomorrow! Yes, you can pay your phone company for call blocking.You can block up to 6 numbers. It's like 4.95 extra per month if you use SBC anyway. I have it on our business line because I am sick of paying for these calls on my toll free number.
As far as the do not call list, if they are a non profit, poling org, church, etc...they do not have to adhere to the list.

Thank you for this site! I've been getting these calls almost daily since moving a few months ago. I just left a message to remove my number from all of their lists. The voicemail explaining their exemption from the do not call list is particularly obnoxious. Hopefully this works and they remove my number. If not I will lodge a complaint on donotcall.gov.

I've received numerous calls over the last couple months. They always just hang up when I answer. Today, since it was Saturday and wouldn't cost me anything, I decided to pick up. Someone named Derrita actually answered! I let her start her spiel. She was thanking me for supporting CARE, which I do support CARE. After a minute I interrupted her and started telling her about the constant harrassment and I told her about this site and all the evil that is MDS Communications. To my surprise, she actually stayed on the line and heard me out. She said the computer generates the calls and that is possibly why calls get dropped. I told her she could tell her boss that I am going to contact CARE and drop my support of their organization if they continue to use MDS Communications which constantly harrasses me. Ms. Carter told me that she would remove my number from their list. Some of the above messages though suggest that other people have gotten themselves "removed" from the list only to be harrassed more than ever.

In September, they called 7x in a 2-day period, without leaving a message. I called 3x, leaving a message for them to quit calling, and then answered the 7th time they called and told them it was unethical for them to keep calling, and also sent an email to MDS and the charity it was fund-raising for. Yesterday and today they called again, so I registered a complaint with donotcall.gov. Although I am basically conservative and have similar religious views to some of these organizations, I would not want to support any organization that uses this fund-raising company.

Woman said she was from Mercy Corps; I told her I never respond to phone solicitations of any kind.
But this number showed up on my "received call" list and so I called back.
it's MDS Communications. I got a recorded message stating their name and that they specialize in fundraising for Christian ministries and conservative public policy groups including Right to LIfe and the Republican party. Then they said to leave a voice message w/my phone number (NOT!! they already have it!)
A bit of research revealed oag.state.ny.us
that MDS gave/raised $$ for the Christian Coalition, Christian Solidarity, Concerned Women, Food for Life, National Right to Life, New York Right to LIfe. . .
Hmm. Mercy Corps looks to on the up and up but I think it's curious they use the same fundraiser as the Christian Coalition! and that the fundraiser has SO many complaints against it.

I've sent two e-mails to their Marketing Director, Shelley Nelson, requesting that my number be placed on their "do not call" list - yet the calls have not stopped; in fact, they have increased. I've gotten eleven calls in the past week.
I've reported every single one to the FTC. The suggestion that you drop an e-mail to snelson@mdscom.com does not appear to have any effect. I also tried to e-mail their President, Jay Mount, but the e-mail for him that is on their website does not go through.
I've also contacted Mercy Corps (to whom I have donated in the past) and informed them that they will receive no further support from me, due to their association with MDS.

We get calls from this number several times a day with the caller ID listing "Unknown Caller". Today they have called twice so far, however, the day isnt over yet. On October 25, 2006 they called 5 times. When I answer the phone and wait(in case it is an automatic dialing machine) no one ever speaks and they hang up. After reading some of the posts here and seeing that they are a fundraiser or charitable organization - I wonder if perhaps they get paid for each phone call they make and they just make the same ones over and over. I had two missed calls from them today (first time I've seen it) -- googled the number and found this site. I called the number back, and a recording said it was MDS Communications, said who they represent (Christian orgs and the National Republican Party), and that they are sorry if we've received unwanted calls from them. They then ask for you to leave a message with your phone number and tell them if you want to be removed from all their lists or particular groups. The recording said it could take up to a few weeks to be purged from their calling lists.

I receive multiple calls from this number. When I called them back I was connected to a recording that identified them as a National Fund Raising organization that is able to make calls even if you are on the Do Not Call list. You can leave your phone number and they are suppose to purge you from their lists if you request that. They do state that it will take several weeks before you are removed from all new lists because you cannot be removed from current phone lists.

We get calls from this number daily. We have a computer answering the phone - a message is never left. We are on the do not call list. It is one of only two 'business' numbers that call all the time.

Said he was from MDS, and is a paid-interview on behalf of some organization. Then he asked me if I am for or against abortion. I asked him if I get paid for my answer? He said no. I said "why should you make money off of me and waste my cell phone minutes, take me off your list" and hung up. Where do they get these lists, anyway?

Its one of those non-profit religeous groups. They even state on their recording they have the right to call you even if you are on the do not call list.

Real nice of them isn't it.

Why is it the religeous groups are the ones always harrasing with phone calls? I think the Do Not Call List needs to have some new rules added to it, to include non-profit groups.

Have called twice but not left a message. Next time they call I will answer trust me and they won't like it. Best way to deal with them is to report but also drag them along, waste plenty of their time and then give them nothing.

Phone provider is Level 3 Communications which means they are using the Internet to call. If it is MDS Communications, then it is not a surprise. They do phone solicitations for charities and political parties.

Just so you know, this is a fund raiser group. They are a call center for non-profit organizations. They represent numerous clients, such as the bible society, promise keepers, political candidates and so on.

I google-searched this number and found it comes from Sprint Communications Company, L.P.- AZ. I think it's a cell phone # from someone who works for them. I hope this helps in the future. Do not be afraid to report this number on this page. They need to know how many people are being bothered by them.

Got a calls from this number and 480-588-9998 both are MDS Communiations. Left message to be removed from all of their list, we will see. Since they are a charitable and political orgainization they are allowed to call but must remove your number from their list at your request or they can be fined. (Check out Donotcall.gov)

Followup to my previous comment...they called again and it was a fundraising drive for a West Virginia based political action committee. (Why are they calling from a Phoenix, AZ number? Odd.)

I wasn't home when these people called, however, I do know that unscrupulous businesses claiming to provide jobs for the disabled (and charging customers outrageous prices for items such as trash bags) are often located in the Phoenix area, where this call originated. The sales pitch for such tends to be high-pressure and appeal to the call recipient's pity. Don't fall for it, as I have in the past. Disabled employees are not an excuse to fleece your customers.


How do I stop them from calling?

  1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
  2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
  3. Block them with a call blocker:
