I called back this number. and it said to leave phone number that was called and it will be removed and so I did plus mentioned I am on the do not call registry.

No message was left; thus did not return call.

I've been getting calls from this number. I usually let it roll over to my answering machine ("We are not available right now. If you are NOT a telephone solicitor, charity, or political caller, please leave a message.") but this time, I picked up the phone by accident and found nobody there. I understand that they may be making calls on behalf of some charity that I actually do support but would stop supporting if I found that they are hiring these 6@$!@70$.

One other thought: Non profit or political contractors do not have to abide by the do not call list, they are both exceptions to that rule by law.

This # is listed to Comnet Marketing in Medford Oregon. They are a fund raising org for different non profits. If they are ever there when you answer, ask them which company gave your number to them. Call that organization and raise hell!
Do a web search for Comnet Marketing. On the welcome page is a remove my number tab. By Oregon law they must remove it. However, you may be in the system under more than one organization. Every time you get a call, find out where they got your number and raise hell with the non profit that PAYS them to harrass you for donations!

This call purported to be a "poll." But it clearly was a "push poll" designed to elicit support for a political candidate Sal Esquivel, who is running for state representative from Medford.

Just got this new cell # a few months ago and keep getting calls with no one on the other end every few days. It's annoying, as like previous commenters, I am on all the do not call lists. And now I have to put up with it on a cell phone? And if I want to change #'s, I have to pay for it!

I researched this number and discovered that this was a company hired by the university owned public TV station (WILL TV)IN Urbana IL.I contacted them and informed them that I did not appreciate then using money that I had donated to hire someone to harass me for more money. After donating for 30 years I told them I may stop donating to them entirely. The calls have stopped but I don't know if other donors are still being called.You may try this, if enough people threaten to stop donations, maybe they will treat faithful donors with more respect. I found out who it was by answering the phone and they told me who they were calling for!

This was some service calling on behalf of a professional society I was a member of but had let my membership lapse (American Institute of Aeronautics & Astronautics). The number 541-864-1492 was showing up on my caller ID about 4 times a day, many times a week. No message was left. Called ID says PRIME TIME VENT ... I do not answer solicitation caller (I'm also on do-not-call list, but another reviewer said it referenced non-profits who can call). I really wish I could get them to STOP!

I received a call on 3/30/2010 from 541-864-1492 which I did not answer, and they left no message. Our being listed on the do-not-call list doesn't seem to reduce the number of incoming calls such as this.

It's just a calling service. I got a call from this number today, on behalf of a professional organization I belonged to that wanted me to re-up my membership. Nothing sinister or spammy about it; it was a legitimate call from a very polite and non-pushy rep.

I'm not saying that all their clients are as legit as the one on whose behalf they called me... just saying that the call I got was fine.

File a complaint with the national Do Not Call registry! The more complaints they get the more likely they are to do something about it.

Don't be a taken and deliberately log into Heather the con girl's website. Putting your information into that system establishes a business relationship in the mind of the typical douchebag who owns a teleirritating company. Meaning they will sell your number to every other douchebag who runs the same garbage company.
Write them a letter clearly stating they are not to contact you for any reason. Mail is return receipt, signature required. They get one more call then after that you get to sue in small claims. It's fun and very easy to do. Even the bungholes calling for the AHA and other "Non Profits" have to obey the stop calling letter.

Okay, so I've done what NumberZoom suggested and gone to their website to ask that my number be removed from the call list. I also contacted KPLU and asked that they make sure my number is removed from any begging for dollars list. Last night I got another call from the same outfit. Apparently it doesn't do any good to ask to be removed. Time to file a complaint with the FCC. Not that doing so will do any good, but at least I feel better!

I suspect this may be a call on behalf of KPLU. I have e-mailed them to express my opinion of the company they have apparently hired to harass former contributors.

They called a couple of times and only left one message, purely by accident. When my voicemail kicked in the CSR never hung up the phone but instead chatted with her coworker for a couple of minutes. If you ever do answer in time to speak to these people they tell you can't leave a message because apparently it's against the law, but it's not against the law for them to call you. Laughably pathetic.

This number called my business and asked for someone who I don't know, but they seemed pretty insistent that this person should work here. I told them no, and they hung up.

It takes at lease 31 days to stop getting the calls once you request to be put on the do not call list. Go to donotcall.gov and sign up if you haven't and even add your cell phone. Do not sign up on any other do not call website especially if they ask for money to do so - that's a scam. The Nat'l do not call list is FREE and Feb. 2008 it was made law to remain on the list permanently. Fund raising org's are exempt from the nat'l do not call list, as well as company's that you have done business with at some time. The website provides this info. You can report phone calls on donotcall.gov website. Either filter the annoying calls by staying calm and ignoring them, letting the machine answer them or request that they take you off their list. You could even call company's that you've done business with but it's been a while and ask to be put on their no call list. I just monitor the calls for a while and make notes of the #, date and time, and company name (I search the web if unknown name), and after a few calls I report the company on donotcall.gov

Call is some maintenance test message from a technician on the system... this has been going on every at least 3 times day for the last three weeks.

Tried using the "Don't Call' utility they have on their site at comnetmarketing.com. It does not do any good. As a matter of fact the frequency of calls have increased since I used it. I think I was suckered into verifying my name and phone number for them.

A few months ago I pledged to a local Seattle radio station KPLU so now I'm sure that is what comnet is repeatedly calling for.

I picked up today and finally talked to someone. Seems that my former organization, PRSA (Public Relations Society of America) gave them my phone number because I have not yet renewed my dues (after I made it crystal clear to PRSA on several occasions that I will not be renewing my membership). They called my cell phone several times but I didn't answer. But the last time they called, my best friend answered the phone and she said they asked for me by name but she told them they had the wrong number and I haven't received a call since (knock on wood). They never left any messages and the number looks like an international one when it came up on my phone and that's why I never bothered to call back to see who it was. I figured if it was important they would leave a message. But I didn't like the fact that they were calling my cell phone. Makes me think Cingular/AT&T sold information or there's a hacker.

It's a recording from COMNET making membership calls for public radio, television, museums, etc. I am on the do not call registry -- which seems not to work -- so I left them a "firm" message that I am not interested and recommend they stop calling my number before I take the next steps. It's really annoying....

When I answered the phone, it was a representative from the American Counseling Association asking if I wanted to renew my membership.

I don't know about anyone else, but I complained to the organization that I belong to (AAAS) and it did NOTHING. I got an automated "we'll look into it" type of email back. The caller didn't say they were calling "on behalf of AAAS" they said they were *from* AAAS. Does anyone know if there's any way to prove that you've been put on the company's remove list? If they keep calling, I'm wondering if reporting the company will even work if I can't prove I asked to be put on their remove list.

It does not matter that you are on the Do Not Call list. This company is calling on behalf of charities or organizations with which you've done business in the past. Apparently, they will add you to their own list if you ask them or go to their website.

I asked AT&T if they could block the number and after acknowledging that I was being harassed, gave me two options: a) change my cell number or b) enroll in a $4.99/month plan where I can block incoming calls. Young male telemarketer tried to sell me a renewal membership for the museum here. It was a sweet discount package with a coupon book, but I never give money out over the phone, so I asked if they could mail me something. They said yes, but to save postage, asked for my email. He may have been dyslexic, because he had trouble getting my email correct, and I have yet to get any kind of message, almost 2 weeks later, so I don't know if it was that, or it was just a hoax.

This company claims they work for non-profits. Be assured however, Comnet is a FOR profit company!! When I think that my donation dollars to public radio, NPR or PBS could be going to pay for these scum-sucking telemarketers, I feel really cheated. Besides, if they really wanted to deal with me like the "honorable non-profits" they claim to represent, they could have the decency to leave a message on my answering machine.

Their website requires a lot of personal information if you want to file a comment or complaint. I doubt that they will remove your name from their auto-dialer. What a bunch of sleaze-bags.

When I answered today, I immediately told the woman to take me off her list and then felt really bad when she explained she's from public radio and isn't allowed to leave a message. I told her about these sites and she said that feedback like that is helpful. Maybe this can all be resolved before we boycott our phones....

Caller claimed to be a representitive of WUNC radio, a NPR affiliated station in North Carolina, looking for my support for their fund drive. Smelled fishy.

I've been getting 2-3 calls per day form this number for a week. Today i answered and the called claimed to be from KUSC.ORG asking me to send another contribution.

Someone called claiming to represent the Atlanta Zoo and wanting to renew my membership (all of which is sensible). She wanted my credit card to renew over the phone, and was rather insistent even when I pointed out I didn't really know if she was from the zoo or not. She asked lots of questions and finally I hung up on her. I had asked her to just mail me the renewal form, but she seemed not to get the idea.

I have gotten a call every day for the past four days. Twice yesterday. I have not gotten a message, and do not answer unknown numbers. I figure if it is someone I know or it is important, they'll leave a message. I too am on the no call list, so if you contribute to a non-profit like NPR or something, you're on a list? Keep geting a cal from that number every evening at the exact same time 5:45 pm. I don't answer calls from unknown numbers...figure I'll wait until they leave a message. I answered the phone. The guy on the other end identified himself as a paid telephone surveyer. He was just asking some question about a society I joined recently. Quite harmless. He never asked any personal identifying info.

These calls are from Comnet Marketing Group. If you call 877-581-2565 they can make it go away. I even asked who the group was that gave them the number to spam us. I will call back and see if they give it to me. I will post the results. These are non-profits -- whoever it is I will add them to my never give money to -- and we all need to do such to stop this.

I think this number is about some memberships. They just keep calling you until you join in it.

If you call them back they will have access to your name along with your phone number so I would just try to ignore it. Has anyone reported this to the police or a news channel? They will get to the bottom of it.

I finally decided to answer this number and found out that it was my local public radio calling seeing if I wanted to renew my membership.

Called while I was on the other line. I think I'm on the donotcall list. Does anyone know who this is??

I have been receiving these no message calls daily for over a month. I too am on the Do Not Call list, but also contribute to various non-profits and own domain names... It's annoying.

2 calls today on my mobil (518 area code) and no one answered

I have a special ring for bill collectors, or other pest, I have set this number up as "a pest" special ring

just a hang up when I answer. My question is, who started this website? Is it the person doing the calling? Has to be a prank. Or a con.

This number keeps calling my cellphone. DAILY. I answered and nobody responded.

I've gotten 4 calls all at around the same time of 8pm. No messages. Didn't call them back. Glad to have found info on them and that this is a soliciation.

They seem to be a telemarketer either hired to renew magazine subscriptions, doing a survey, etc. They've been calling my house for months.

Try visiting the company's site to have your number removed. I just tried it and everything works fine. We'll see if it actually works in having my name removed from their database.

We have recieved anywhere from 1 to 4 calls a day from this number for the last 6 months or so. Never leave a message, annoying!

these call centers work on an auto dialer which is why there is no immediate answer, sometimes it's up to a 2 second delay. after reading Justin's posts, it seems like they get their numbers from people you have donated money to(this would include buying something from pbs or a public radio station), a membership to some kind of zoo or museum, or a membership to some professional type of society or something like that. if you don't want them calling your cell or work, don't use it for a contact number when you sign up for things or tell the people you sign up with that you don't want to receive solicitations. next time some one calls you, just tell them that you don't want to be called again(politely, they're people too).

They have called three times in the past week or so but I have never answered. I finally searched for it and found this page. I'm assuming they have my number because I'm a member of the Museum of Science and Industry. Went to the Comnet website and filled out the form for them to remove me from their list... hopefully it works!

Stop Calling!

This is highly annoying. They call my cell phone at least once a day. I am very careful with this number. I would like to know how they got it. They never leave a message and when I called it just rang without going to a message. It's an invasion of my privacy! I want it to stop!

The name comes in as "Unavailable" and the number is 541-864-1492. I don't pick up and they leave no message. They have called several times over the past couple weeks. All times of day.

Another call just disrupted my weekend. Didn't answer - no message left. Hey Justin Hancock - how about you get a clue and stop harrassing people from this number.

Another call - the second one today - late in evening now when nobody should be calling to solicit anything. In fact, I believe it is illegal to do so at this late hour. Harassment like this needs to stop.

According to one of the comments you can request to have your # removed on their website. I was wondering, has anyone tried this? Does it work? This company has been calling my cell phone and I hesitate typing in my name and # for fear they will just sell it to others and I will end up with MORE calls.

Several calls at various times. I have not answered since I do not recognize the number and know no one in Oregon. Went to website after reading the other responses. This type of telemarketing for non-profit usually gives very little percentage to the organizations it supposedly represents.

This is a company that makes phone call solicitations for non-for-profit groups (museums, schools, etc). Call it and find out!

Caller did not leave message. Caller ID said "unknown name". I just felt suspicious about this call; I'm on the Texas Do Not Call registry and apparently Texas' penalties for marketing calls are about the stiffest in the nation. I'll report this number if I get any more calls.

Same as above. I have half a mind to answer and threaten them with some sort of action. It's my experience that numbers like this will continue to call unless you tell them to take your name off the list. Only then can you go forward legally with complaints. Only after they've been warned does it become harassment.

Keeps calling. Read about this specific number when I looked up another annoying caller. I don't answer it, however, it's simply unneccessary and unprofessional, whoever it is.

The reason that you get so many hang-up calls is because they are using auto-dialers with not enough operators to handle the dialed calls. This should be illegal but it's not...yet!

The call comes to my cell phone. The ID just shows the phone number. I called the number back and received a recorded message like Johnnie did, which continued on to a voice mail. I left a message to remove my number from their call list. We'll see if they do.

This is a large corporation that makes donation calls for not-for-profit organizations. I have donated to several places, so I'm sure that's why I am getting calls from this number. I will no longer donate to these organizations. I refuse to donate to places who cannot, or will not, make the calls themselves.

Got a call, no message. Perhaps they are only verifying that the number is working, so the non-profits can mail you. Why else the no-message and hang-up on answer.

calls every night for last week. Call back and I get the Conmet message. Maybe they have the power dialer on and misloaded some numbers...am a member at the Seattle Zoo and the 5th Ave Theater sometimes calls me.

This number called my office phone last night around 7 pm. No message was left in voice mail. I have contributed to several public radio stations and arts organizations, and I usually use my office phone number for things like that, so it would make sense that I could be on their list.

So, I found this site and read all the comments. Apparently, instead of answering some of our questions, "Justin" can only reply with the exact same post. I think it is hilarious that they try to hide behind non-profit organizations, as if we won't be mad at them for constantly bothering us.

I did go to their website just not and "removed" myself from their call list. Whether that really works, we'll see. I'm a bit skeptical.

I just got a call from this number on my cell & didn't pick up. I, too, don't pick up numbers I don't recognize. I read all the comments and logged on to their site and was able to use their link to remove my number from their list. I know Ken's message said when he attempted it didn't work on 11.18.06, but as of 12.1.06, it's working. Hope that helps.

I got a call from them, but they did not reply when I picked up. This particular number they called me at has only been on my resume and career builder and is registered donotcall.

I called 877-864-1492 today 11-9-06 and reported the calls to Comnet & requested that they stop calling. THey were very gracious and took me off the calling list.

Caller does not leave message. Note: COMNET usually refers to the .com and .net domain name space. So maybe the caller is getting numbers from registered domain names' whois information, or it's somebody doing surveys for registrars?
