Who Called Us

I think this "charity" is a fraud, but I need people to gather info on them.

I need the: Full name of the "Charity," address, and phone #.
Also Name/address/phone # of any other calls you receive of a similar nature.

If you receive a call from this "charity" contact your state's Attorney's General Office, Charity division, and ask if they are legit. Please submit a complaint about them, if they are not registered. State Attorney's Generals take Police/Firefighter scam charities seriously, but need information to help.

I checked with my state's Attorney's General Office, and they have never heard of Minnesota Fraternal Order of Police.

never leaves a message and the caller ID reads "Local Call" but area code 540 is NOT local for here.

Received several calls from these folks and never a message. Calls returned identify this number as belonging to the "Fundraising Information Center". Internet searches have only provided me with one possible clue who they are and how to contact them. The "Fundraising Information Center" is listed as an exhibitor on a .pdf brochure distributed by the Dallas/Ft. caller claimed to be calling from VA FOP. Collecting for fallen officers fund. I asked if there were a web site or mailing he could send. He gave me a 1-800 to call, that is answered by a recording stating it is the collection arm of the VA FOP.

These people call daily and never leave a message. Sometimes they hang up when you answer.
If they are a telemarketer, I still wouldn't give over the phone. There are too many scam artists these days.

These A-holes have been calling and calling. I blocked my caller ID with *67 and called it. It answers something about being a "Fund Raiser Information Center" and goes on to say they tried to reach me. If I enter my number at the tone they will call me back. When I heard the tone I entered THEIR number. Hopefully it is an automated system and will continue to call them in a closed loop reaching the same automated message over and over again. Ha Ha!!!

Received a call from this number two times. Caller ID says "Local Number"

Another barely legal operation. they are not likely working at the behest of any FOP just giving one or the other enough money to keep their 503 status. Its a scam that needs to be cracked on.

Last night received call from same organization (Fundraising Information Center) at 8:59 p.m. It was a different ph. number, but same organization. They are relentless. I never pick up and talk to anyone, with the exception of early on in our history with them, when it was, indeed, a Fraternal Order of Police-type solicitation for funds. You can ask to be placed on their do-not-call list, but only if you know the name of the group soliciting funds during that particular call. I believe they are exempt from the federal do-not-call regs. because they technically escape the "telemarketing" clause if they're "fundraising" for a nonprofit group.

It is getting time where the consumer should be able to hold someone responsible.

On 1/18/08 called at 8:00 AM. ID claimed Local Call but area 540 is 2000 miles away. Nobody anrwered when phone picked up. Very annoying.

They call us several times every day, morning,evening, and night. I told them no, but they still call.

These jerks called me at 8:17am this morning - unbelievable. It's these JAK production people again, I guess they got a new number that I didn't block. They are RELENTLESS. And forget about giving as a way to get them off your back, they'll be on you for the rest of your life.

Call the number back and you will be given an option to be placed on the do not call list for the organization that attempted to contact you. This number is for a fundraising company who are contracted by a number of organizations.
