517-391-2007 is calling and not using any recorded voice sound or person on the line, just silence. This company is trolling to see when you are at home. This should be illegal.

As others have reported, this is a recorded message for an unknown credit card. It could be a scam, should one bite, to extract personal information. They obviously are dialing numbers in phone book sequence, as I received the same call 30-60 seconds later on a second home line. At the end of the recorded message it says to press 1 to talk to the company or press 3 to be taken off the list. I am guessing that 3 does nothing. I pressed 1, and nothing happened. I had planned to fish around with a fake name and number to see what I could find.

They called me, and it sounded like they were violating the "do not call" list, which I am on. So, I pressed (1) to speak with an agent. I was 3rd in line, and decided to hang onto the call. I finally talked to a young man and asked him the name of his company (Card Services). I asked if his company obeys the national "do not call" list. He then asked, "Do you want to be on a do-not-call list?" and I said, "No, I am already on that list. I am asking if your company abides by the rules of that list." He started to laugh and said that he didn't have that list available to him. I told him that the list was available to him and that he likely knows about it. I said that I am gathering more information about his company in order to file a formal complaint.

Same message as Kay and my interest rate is 6.9%. They would have a hard time beating that - even if they were a legitimate company.

Started to say it was about our credit card and eligibility for lower interest rates. I hung up.

either a scam or some sleaze skirting the "do not call" laws. Canned message was about credit card interest rate with instructions to press some number for more information or to press some other number to be removed from the call list. I'm on the state & fed "do not call" lists already.

I just received a call from this number, but choose not to answer it. I have no idea where area code 517 is. When I don't recognize the number and the caller ID only says wireless caller I never answer. Its very annoying to be bombarded with these kinds of calls. I'm thinking that this maybe some companies way of getting around the Do Not Call List, or as others have mentioned a big time SCAM.

Received a nuisance call from a robodialer for a political campaign, making accusations against a candidate for the city council in the November 2008 election. Apparently sponsored by the union for the City of Alhambra police officers. Am voting for the candidate the robodialer was smearing, if for no other reason than I despise robodialers.

How do I stop them from calling?

  1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
  2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
  3. Block them with a call blocker:
