How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the
FTC. - Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

They left message for someone I've never heard of and I have had my telephone number since 1981. First said this message for (gave a name I never heard of) and said by continuing to listen I was acknowledging I was (this person). Caller said his name was Dave Mann, debt collector, with Asset Acceptance calling about a personal business matter. He requested call back to 800 525-8022 X3782. I find it ludicrous to think I can't listen to my own answering machine to a call to my own telephone number without it meaning I am some stranger who apparently gave my phone number as his own. I have called their 800 number, but it is after hours and I left a message advising how long this has been my number and requesting they not continue to call here.
I found free letters on adviceontime.com that you can mail to this a@@holes to get them to stop calling you. They also have an article on how to deal with them. Fight back, they have to respect your legal rights.

How can I stop this kind of calls? I'm busy working and leave everything to answer, this guys are rude enough to hang up the phone, but I can't find the way to stop their constant calling, I don't owe anything and don't have to do anything with this people. They call also from another telephone number 773 668-1601. Is there a law to avoid this kind of calls?

recvd a call from this number and I tried to call them back a couple of days later in order to try to determine why they are calling me and the phone had been disconnected. These scam companies come and go. I wish there was some way to stop this nonsense.
They were looking for someone who doesn't live here but does have a series on numbers to choose from to respond, one of which is if the person they are calling does not live here, press 4
Got a call today around 4:30pm. It was a recording. It said, "Kim D. Carter." "If you stay on the line you are acknowledging that you are Kim D. Carter and that the phone was from a debt collector. I hung up. My first name is Kim but nothing close to the middle initial or last name. Don't they know who they are calling?? AND we have no debt.

Looked up the number online for information about their identity and discovered the call came from a land line in Adamsville, Texas which is in Lampasas County.
They have called numerous times asking for some unknown person. I have requested several times to take my telephone number off their calling list. The person on the line is very aggressive and rude.
I don't appreciate getting a call at 7:30-8:00 AM every morning.
