How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the
FTC. - Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

Everyone needs to remember to get on the "Do Not Call" list by the government... registering lasts 5 years and you MUST do it again. ALSO, do the same for your cell phones or you'll be getting charged per minute by you cell company! Most of these recorded messages say, "This is your last chance to lower Your Credit Card" ... and when you punch the button and ask a question, they Hang Up immediately." SO WHAT is their real game? (even if you try to play along to get info about them, they hang up). That tells me there is something more sinister regarding these calls. I hope the FCC looks into it!

Didn't answer, left no message. I'm on Do Not Call List but they don't care.
It was an automated call with a recording offering lower credit card interest rates and inviting us to hold to speak to a representative. When a rep finally anwered, i asked for the name and whereabouts of his company and CLICK!! he had hung up. We are on the Do Not Call List and i find these calls very irritating

Credit Card Consolidation, or so they claim.
She said she represented Account Services. When I asked her how I could contact her company she told me to go to hell.
I looked up the website for Account Services, and they have a link on their front page for telemarketing. They say that they do not use telemarketing and it is another company doing this.
I am guessing they are spoofing the Caller ID and using a made up name to prevent people from finding them. Since with a real dept consolidation company you would have to be able to call them back I am guessing they are just fishing for information for identity theft.
Are there many legit dept consolidation companies that regularly tell their potential customers to go to hell?
My girlfriend was under the impression that this call was coming from New Brunswick, New Jersey (not New Brunswick, Canada), and she thought it had something to do with one of my credit cards, so she would always hang up. When I got the call, I pressed 1 to talk to someone. The person answered, saying something like, "Have you chosen to receive a lower interest rate?". I replied, "I actually want to know who you are that you keep calling us when we're on the do-not-call list." That was it - the line went silent and the call was over. I called back the number and got a recording about it not going through (probably an outgoing voicemail from the caller and not a phone company error).

I told hime to take my number off his list as my phone number is on the national do not call registry. He said "not likeley" and hung up on me. 11:10 am 3/26/09

Caller wanted to lower my credit card interest rate. When questioned about this, caller was rude and evasive. It is a form of telemarketing. When you call the number back, you won't be able to talk with anyone!

silence, then a disconnect. I called back, and got a busy signal.
Technology is not making life easier.
It's reducing the quality of life.
