Footnote: If you have not heard of Pacific Telecom Communications Group, then Google the name quickly. Visit all the caller complaint sites: Call Ferret, Who Calls Me, Number Investigator, Caller Complaints, Spokeo, and 800notes, and you will discover a laundry list of sites and companies that are hand-in-glove with "PacTel".

According to the different reports, PacTel is the spider in the middle of the web between those boilerplate phone banks in India, for example. PacTel sets up the spoofed numbers in order to provide cover for the companies here in the USA, also for example, that run those phishing operations.

How do they get away with it? It's the old story: They have political friends in high places.

Strangest still is the emerging fact that PacTel is more likely than not the owner of that machine that contains those recordings of Rachel and her crew. Those recordings were made perhaps in the mid-2000s by actresses who got their pay and are now long gone -- although it is possible that they themselves have received bogus calls on which they hear their own voices coming back at them!

And that's the summary of the information as I have jotted it down in my daily log notebook.

Sorry- that was Weir PJM, not SPM. Can't read my own writing at times!

2012-09-16 08:42:13 UTCJimH

Sorry about the novella below in my earlier post but I am going to copy paste that with every comment about calls from them from here on out.

Today yet another 2 calls from them, Card Holder Services. Same stuff but these calls showed "Weir SPM" on the name on my caller ID. yet anothe bogus name.

Yet another call from Robo Rachel and the cretins at card holder services to give me my 'last chance to lower my credit card interest rates'. Actually my caller ID box showed 12 calls from yet another BS faked number. Wireless indeed. There was a law recently passed where a caller cannot falsify what appears on caller ID. But since these [choose your obscenity] ignore Do Not Call laws why should they care about yet another law? The number that shows up on caller ID is a fake which is why people get a busy signal or some other error when they try to call the number back. As soon as you press a button the call is forwarded to one of their operators but you never see the real number.

I have pressed the button the Robo Rachel says to push to be removed from their calling list although I knew it was a joke and pointless to do so. I have tried talking to the “humans” to try to get the calls to stop. That, too, is pointless. When I tried to get inquisitive by asking what bank the ‘new’ card will be issued from, it always results in them hanging up on me. I suspect that’s where a lot of people get the idea they are scammers comes from. No matter how cleverly I tried to ease into saying it, the slightest hint of the DNC list gets an immediate hang-up. (I believe this is because technically if you don’t get to finish saying “Put me on your Do Not Call list.” you haven’t actually told them not to call you. It’s obvious they are trained to recognize any indication in voice or tone that the “Stop calling.” is coming and they immediately hang up.

Others folks have commented on being cursed at and having really foul things said to them by the agents. I experienced it first hand. I acted interested but worried when I very politely told the man I was speaking to that his company had a bad reputation of scamming people, harassing people, ignoring do not call requests and I was worried about it all. Without pause he launched into an obscenity laden tirade at me. He called me every variation of mother*****r and cock*****r he could think of. I didn’t respond back, not that I could have gotten a word in anyway. He called me a worthless “old mother*****r”, an a**hole, called my wife a c**t, and every other foul thing you can imagine. I’m pretty thick skinned so it didn’t really offend me as he intended, but that’s no excuse for such behavior. At the end of our conversation he was quite furious and during his non-stop stream of “F*** You!”s he began stammering and stuttering. He had an Indian or Pakistani accent which combined with his angry Porky Pig stuttering was actually funny in an “I can’t believe I’m hearing this!” way. I really expected the calls would stop after that. They didn’t. Two days later the calls came again.

Other reports about Card Holder Services from this and other sites also accused them of calling the households that had a confrontation with them back with obscene phone calls. They would say foul things, especially sexually based, to whoever answered the phone. This including children and in at least one case I read, a woman in her late 80s. The complaint detailed what was said to her. It was unbelievably disgusting and worse than what was said to me. The mildest of these harassing calls were hang-ups when someone answered. I didn’t and haven’t experienced that, but based on my first-hand dealings with them and the way they flaunt the law, I believe it.

In case anyone reading this missed it, filing complaints on violations of Do Not Call is USELESS because the complaints are not reviewed AT ALL! Read the fine print on the page where you fill out the complaint. It says in essence “complaints are not read or reviewed”. It’s only when a company is investigated that the investigators MAY look for complaints filed at DNC. It doesn’t say what type of investigation would lead to DNC violations being reviewed. So what triggers an investigation if nobody is at DNC paying any attention? Beats me! I started sending complaints to my state AG's consumer affairs office and the FTC. Whether these complaints do any good or not, I don't know. They keep calling.

What's amazing is the sheer number of complaints against this one company that are on every site like this and this one as well. They have been doing this for YEARS! Early on in the 90s my caller ID box would show names like 'Mickey Mouse', 'Pluto', 'Popeye', 'Walt Disney' and things like that. They used names of known companies tweaking the spelling and for the past couple years have been using the 'wireless caller' thing. Nothing and nobody stops them. Their CEO’s name, address, and phone number, the company address and phone numbers are all readily available with a minimal of effort to find with any search engine. Still, nobody does a damn thing about it. No wonder they thumb their noses at the law. They know the law has no teeth and no enforcement.

Note that they use several names such as Credit Card Services, Card Holder Services, and Card Member Services among others. A few of these name are also used by some of the legit credit card companies. A year or so ago I came home and when I came in my wife was on the phone to whom she thought was Citibank. I heard part of the conversation and became suspicious. I slipped her a note telling her to make tham clearly say they were Citibank. They hung up on her. She immediately called Citibank and they closed her account and issued her new cards with new numbers. They told her they regularly get customers who were decieved in the same way.

Did not answer as I have a cell phone and all calls cost me. But my number is and has been for years on the do not call list. Good to see I can label as a banned caller.

2012-07-23 19:25:52 UTCGayle

wants to sell me a new credit card with lower rates.

2012-07-20 15:03:03 UTCCarol F Hendrix

One of the many, many that tell me "there's nothng wrong with my credit card, but this is my last chance to lower the interest rate". It obviously ISN'T my last chance as the calls keep coming from varied numbers no matter how many times I push the button for no OR try to talk with one of the humans working there!!!

2012-07-20 04:16:21 UTCpinkpercolator

I looked up the number. It says Land Line. Santa Fe New Mexico. On my caller ID it says cell phone number. But it's a call to offer you a lower interest rate with your credit card. They call me daily, Its always some automated message they play. It always hangs up before I get to the real human person. So I can tell them we're on do not call. Take us off your list. Don't call again.

2012-07-19 19:48:11 UTCVance

All we can do is report them to the FTC, lets make it happen. ftccomplaintassistant.gov

2012-07-12 18:54:51 UTCjohn

we don't answer our phone if we don't know the number. we get the credit calls all the time too, when I do answer.

2012-07-11 16:02:31 UTCMaddie

The same people but with a different number who want to "help" us with better interest rates on their credit cards. I am getting sick of these people. I have blown air horns in their ears. I have told them to you-know-what off. I have told them I am calling the AG, which I have and apparently there is nothing that can be done with these morons because they have managed to fly under the radar somehow. They must just call everyone because we have no interest on our credit cards. We pay off monthly or use AMEX. What's scary is they sound somewhat official and if they were to get a hold of an elderly person they could scam them. I hope there's a special place in Hell for these people.

The DNC list doesn't seem to apply to these folks.

2012-07-09 21:29:33 UTCRankle

It's Rachael, the Credit Card Services whore, calling from another spoofed telephone number. They are trying to steal your credit card number and other financial / personal information. Criminal identity theft scammers !!!

2012-07-06 20:54:41 UTCcarla

this # called my cell, from Santa Fe, NM. I don't answer calls I don't recognize. No message was left.> luckily for this site, its just another scam credit card solicitor. I too, am on the DNC, but as such, it does no good.

2012-07-06 18:46:58 UTCCharlie

Robocall stating that it was my final notice about getting a better interest rate on my credit card. Keep receiving similar calls from Credit Card Services several times a week from different parts of the country. I am on the DNC list but that apparently doesn't matter anymore.

How do I stop them from calling?

  1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
  2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
  3. Block them with a call blocker:
