How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
- Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

Did not realize call came from overseas when my wife handed phone to me. Woman on phone (with foreign accent) said she wanted to reduce current credit card rates and asked for my name. I asked for the name of the company. The answer was vague, and she continued with some information that she was obviously reading, then asked for my credit card balances and rates, and I faked interest. So she began asking for detailed account information. Told her I could not give that to her over the phone without knowing what company I was dealing with. She began with the same (read) response and I interrupted. She asked if I would like to talk to the supervisor. She put a man on with an "American accent" who went thru a bit of his pitch. I said that I would be interested if they could mail me some information about their company. He said they had done so weeks earlier, and that this was a follow-up call. I claimed that I did not recall receiving this information, and he replied that most people would typically discard it as just another credit card offer. Then he said that they would not send out further information until they had made it thru thousands of other names that they had pulled from a database. I hung up.
Didn't answer. Occured @ 3:53 pm on 072807. They left partial recorded message on machine. "There is no problem with your account at this time but it is urgent that you contact us concerning you eligibility for lowering your interest rates. Your eligibility expires shortly so please consider this your final notice. Please press one now to speak with one of our representatives...." (bleep-message cut off by answering machine). We too are on the do not call registry.
Called 10:10am on a saturday. The number is on the donotcall list. Asked caller if I have any business with this company, and how they are able to work around the donotcall rules. Caller played dumb. Asked that the caller get someone on the line that fields these calls without transferring. Caller hung up on me.
Reported violation with the donotcall org.
Some type of credit card reduction company.
Didn't answer the call. Saw the number was apparently and "overseas" number. I am also listed on the "do-not-call" registry.
The receiving phone is new and rarely used. It is also listed on the do-not-call registry.
