I desperately tried to stress the importance of getting excellent grades in high school and prep for college entrance exams but instead he chumped around and couldn't get into college and has worked a number of menial jobs like "surveyor", collector and customer service representative. Job after job after job and NO career. I could blame myself but this is the path he chose and the misery that he'll always have to go with it. Obviously we should have gotten him help because his pathological pleasure in using software to "pay back" frustrated callers.

I've been getting called by 425-282-5526 a lot. I haven't picked up the phone though. They never leave a voicemail either. So, each time I try to call back it goes to a vm and says leave a message and then hangs up on me.
I took the advice of Rea below and called 425-272-2300, and a very nice lady promised to put me on their "dont call list". I gave her both of my phone numbers and told her I had to check to see if the 425-282-5526 number was them because I, obviously, wasn't calling that number back. She assured me it was and they were a research company and it was one of their automated dialer numbers that was on my caller id. She was super nice and said she'd remove me from their calling list.

It's sorta a shame - as a probably honest outfit they're the exception to the rule. That "Car Warranty" fiasco from Boca Raton Florida has angered the whole nation. I wouldn't mind talking to genuine folks, but now stray phone calls set off my FIGHT response. The well has been poisoned and I'm becoming sympathetic to Tim Macveigh...now that's scary.

I am so sick of being called. This is MY Phone & I don't want you or any other entity calling it.

I used to call people as a telesurveyor. It's all fun cussing out the guy on the other end, blowing your whistles, hanging up etc. Let me educate you a little bit. The reason we do market research is to benefit you, and the future consumers of America, Companies come through market research firms to call your households, and acquire information, and feedback on products that you may have used. We then take what we've gathered, and pass that back to the company, The company then uses this information and comes out with better packages that the consumer wants! It's how supply and demand works people. Now... The laws.. ftc.gov Telesurveyors do not abide by the do not call list laws, BECAUSE they are not selling anything. They are allowed to call between 8am - 9pm. If your area code is a california area code and you reside in new york... yeah your gonna get called @ 12pm...

Now as a tele surveyor, I honestly think this was one of the funniest jobs i've had because i got cussed out, screamed at, hung up on, whistled at, bomb threated, etc... 295 calls out of the 350 I made. It's all repetitive, your not making this person experience anything he's never seen or heard before. And if you threaten them with a bomb, its actually kinda cool, we get to let our supervisors know, then evacuate the building "while still being paid by the hour might I add" and the police come and search the place for about an hour and a half, but also track that last number which is saved in our databases. Also, we have the power to call you back by months, weeks, days, hours, even call you back in 2 minutes!! We are able to control your emotions by what we type on the computer! Call back for 30 minutes all we type is +30m *enter* bam your gonna get called in exactly 30 minutes by another person in the same building.

Now As a research firm, we have a do not call list of our own, We can only put you on a list for "THIS PARTICULAR SURVEY ONLY" we cannot guarantee another survey will not contact you.

I hope this opened some peoples eyes. I worked for a market research firm for 5 months. Theres no winning or losing if your gonna just cuss em out, just calmly say hey, i'm not interested, please place me on the do not call list for this particular survey, and thats that.

I received an intrusive and annoying call at night. I hung up because I suspected fraud; a legitimate and ethical caller would not conduct business in such a manner.

I asked to be removed and still am receiving calls. She stated she would try to get it removed this afternoon and I did not receive calls for 24 hours, before they started again.

She identified herself as a surveyor with Pacific Market Research. I told her I was on a do-not-call list and she said because her company does surveys they are not classified as telemarketers. I asked her to remove my number from their database.

Was Pacific Marketing Research asking me about car insurance advertising. It was relatively painless although I had to laugh when they asked me "On a scale of 1 to 10 how appealing is a caveman as a spokesperson?"

I received a call from this number (425)-282-5526 - I called the (425)-271-2300 and got a live person. She said she would remove my number from the list (24 hours). I hope she does..

Called to get market research about my haircut. I told them it was not a good time and to remove my number from their database. I'm on the Do Not Call list, so there's no way it's legitimate.

They call here everyday. I just called the 425-271-2300 number and a very nice and polite teenage girl answered. She agreed to take me off their list.

They have called at least 15 times this week and have never left a message. I finally answered and the person said her name was Jackie something from the internal revenue service. To the people defending these liars please understand that I value my privacy and have a very heave workload which requires my uninterrupted concentration. Each time these people call I have to stop what I'm doing to check the caller ID that means that they are jepardizing my family's income as well as being intrusive.
Why would a so called honest company say that they were a Federal Agency - They did not say they were reps the girl said she was the IRS!!! I called Mr Rosenkranz at the number listed below and it is disconnected - Let's find him again and spam call him! I will try to find his address for a face to face talk.

Its Sunday afternoon, time to kick back and relax and have had 2 calls from 425 2825526 back to back with no one saying anything when I answer the call. At the cost of long distance calling these days, they are not the brightest bulb in the package

first, file a complaint on the ftc website and then e-mail or write to your local congressman. the do-not-call legislation does not go far enough. it needs to eliminate all exemptions.

After scrolling down the list of comments on this site I found 2 post. One saying the name of the company attached to this phone number which is "Pacific Market Research" and another post giving this phone number 425-271-2300 to ask them to remove your number from their list. I took the advice of the 2nd post and called the number. A very nice woman answered the phone confirming that this is indeed "Pacific Market Research". I asked to be removed from the phone list and she told me she would do so. Crossing my fingers this direct and nice approach will work. Thank you to Bob Goatse and Boston MA for their postings, your info was helpful.

Today is the 2nd day we received calls from these people. Several calls, between 8am-9pm Eastern. Some calls are almost back-to-back! That phone # is registered to my elderly parents who do not have magazine subscriptions, no credit cards, no computer, and no way in hell they would ever give out personal information anywhere! They are private people and clever about these things.

I would seriously like to know how they obtained our private landline given that I placed them on the Do NOt CAll list when it came out (and renewed it in timely fashion). I'm starting to think they get phone numbers FROM the DNC LIst!

And seriously, can't this marketing company pony up some cash for decent phone/computer equip. that states which numbers they've already dialed? YOu do not conduct business properly by pissing people off!

They called 5:25pm, just as I was leaving. She said that she was calling from Dept. Of Education about my son's Direct Student Loans. I said I was in a hurry, please tell me what it's about. She started to repeat her script and I said I didn't have time. She said she'd call back. So is this a "marketing" junk call? Or is this number being used now by Dept. Of Educ.?

They called today and I answered the phone because I couldn't take it any longer. They call and call and then keep on calling. Whoever it was. asked for my daughter in Spanish. I told them she doesn't live here and not to call any more. Let's see how long it last.

If you have a fax machine , let the machine answer the call . Their automated dialer will see the phone # as a fax line & be removed instantly from their list . Problem solved ..

This isn't the first time they've called recently, although I usually just let it ring and they never leave a message. This time I said "Hello" three times and nobody responded, so I just hung up.

If surveys and non-profits and politicals are exempted, then the laws need to be amended to REQUIRE that their caller ID identify who's calling. We still have the option of not answering, and making the calls anonymously for ostensible legitimate purposes shouldn't be legally allowed.

Unfortunately, including your number on the FTC's Do Not Call registry DOES NOT stop companies from calling to do surveys.

From the FTC website: "Because of limitations in the jurisdiction of the FTC and FCC, calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors would still be permitted..." (URL: ftc.gov )

Your state laws may differ. Here in Oregon, however, survey calls (telesurveys) are still permitted under the state's Do Not Call law.

There may be other laws that could be brought into play here. The main thing to keep in mind is that if you tell surveyors that you are on the Do Not Call list, they will likely laugh at you because that law does not apply to their company.

If they call back I will politely explain how telemarketers/teleresearchers are soulless bastards who most likely have no self worth and although you have no face and name over the phone, everyone in america hates you and everyone you work with. There is probably more hatred in our society directed towards 'you' than nearly any other profession in the country. Go to hell.

They call and hang up aft my answering machine message starts to play. This has been going on for several weeks and they call at least twice a day. According to the phone book, the 425 area code is in Bellevue, Washington and I do not know anybody in that city.

Obviously the message calling us all "babies" for having the insane delusion that we aren't fair game for any crook trying to sell us stuff in the "privacy" of our own homes comes from some clown at Pacific Marketing. Many people who shill for a living believe that they have the God-given right to hound us any time, anywhere, but that doesn't mean we have to agree. Of course I respect the necessity of having to make a living; I have to make a living myself. But I don't do it by theft, fraud, or pestering people to death in their own homes. Give me a break! What's next -- a plea to realize that muggers are just trying to make a living?

These people have now called us over 25 times in less than a week, which really constitutes harassment. They have called as late as 9:30 pm and as early as 8 am. We are on the federal and state Do Not Call lists, which obviously mean nothing.

Tell the person who answers that you want your number(s) removed from their call lists.
You may get a bit of a song and dance - what survey are you being called about (I did) - just tell them you don't know and don't care - this is formal notification of your requirement to be removed from their list. Remind them that on the next call they're subject to a $1000 fine, and for each offense thereafter....

Started calling daily until they reached me. I had to tell the person who called that I wanted to be removed from their list THREE TIMES during the conversation and she kept trying to duck it while being deliberately obnoxious.

Supposedly marketing survey companies are allowed to call you but here are 2 questions I would like answered:

1) Why are they allowed to bother people in their homes trying to get all kinds personal information? Even if they don't ask for money from you, all your personal information still converts to money for them! And you end up with nothing!
2) Who the heck even knows for sure if a call is REALLY even a marketing survey? How do you know its not someone preparing to steal your identity, or trying to get other information out of you under false pretenses?

Reading the messages further I see that the Do Not Call does not apply to the Market Research calls. Fine. But it doesn't explain why we are getting up to five hung up calls a day when we are answering our phones. That is harassment. Is there a point? I think that is what has people so angry. Obviously this has been going on for a long time. We have received as many as five calls a day for five days in a row. They hang up every time. Today they finally asked us to complete a survey about different hair salons, especially Great Clips. We are on the National Register of Do Not Call. Something needs to be done about this company. Well let me tell you guys something, all of you guys are just selfish and only care about your self (Well i have to realize the world is full of selfish, careless people). Companies like this offers work to everyone even homeless people,helps them out with free bus passes and start them off at $8.10. Now have you ever ask your self, how come we dont have people asking for money in every corner of our country as much as others???? I work in the market research industry and was hoping I could clear up a few things. First, the "Do Not Call List," national or otherwise, has nothing to do with telephone surveying or market research. The federal regulations that govern telemarketers (companies who are trying to sell you something) are completely different from those that govern the market research industry, and market research is not required to abide by any list. The best to get a market research firm to stop calling you is by having any relevant info handy and by asking them to stop calling you. If they do not stop calling you and you believe you really have a harassment case, initiating legal proceedings could be your next step. Either way, playing games, hanging up, and doing all of the things that might make you feel like you're "sticking it to those telemarketers" never work.

I work for Pacific Market Research. Yes, we do recruits for the Microsoft Campus in Redmond. We are expanding our office and will soon have phones only used for Microsoft studies, and when we call you, it will say Microsoft on the caller ID. (At the request of Microsoft, of course.)

Yes, we do surveys for an abundance of Clients. We don't claim to be them. If you would listen when they say their intro, you would hear "This is so-and-so calling on BEHALF of whatever client." We use different names, usually representing the client that gave us the job/survey.

If you don't pick up your phone, then how are we going to know you're not interested? It could mean that you're just never home. We don't even get to see how many times we've called you; the computer dials the number for us. So unless you pick up and tell then you're not interested and to remove your number from being called on this survey, we're going to call you again.

I called Pacific Market Research, and they said that their most recent rash of calls is because they are recruiting for a playtest. My guess would be that they're hired out from microsoft to recruit for a game of some sort. If you don't want them to call you, call them and tell them to take you off of their list. They are legally obligated to do so.

The caller wanted me to answer questions about professional tax preparation (I am a licensed preparer), claiming they were conducting research for the IRS. I could barely understand what she was saying and told her I would not participate.

I have received calls from this number sometimes several times per day and I don't answer because I don't recognise the number on my caller ID. I assumed it was some telemarketer that wasn't being blocked by donotcall.gov and reading these responses, I can see that I am right on this account, so I guess that there is nothing I can do but keep putting up with these annoying calls by just not picking up the phone when I see it on my caller ID.

I see alot of comments about being on the Do Not Call Registry. The Registry does not cover the following: Organizations, Charities, Telephone Surveryors and any company that you have or have had a prior relationship with. You can tell these places to remove you from their call list and if they call back that can be subjected to a $1,000.00. Make sure to keep a record of the time of call, who you spoke to, etc.

3:24 pm MDT call showed "Unknown name". Answered and was told this was the IRS calling. Told her to call on another number, they haven't called yet.

I've been getting 'research' calls from this and other numbers lately, probably to do with next year's election cuz I'm in New Hampshire. Now I have a WAV file of the three tones for disconnected numbers, with a message that says 'this number is disconnected or no longer in service.' When you pick up the phone and use RealPlayer to play these the three SIT tones to the automated calling systems these jerks use, the system automatically removes your number from their calling list. You can get this and similar WAV files on the web, just search for 'SIT tones'. It works!!

My 81 year old mother is getting repeated calls from these idiots, and her numbe is on the national do not call list, and the DMA do not contact list. I may have to drive up there (I'm about 16 miles away.)

They're requests to said people to cease and desist are responded to with a polite "It's not bery fun to get badgered, bothered or otherwise bombarded with information you neither requested nor asked to continue, is it?" Please remove the following phone numbers from your call list and we will stop sending you our equally unwanted email.

It takes a couple of days, but it works very well. Please use this information however you see fit.

This number calls me 5days in a row & 3 calls per day. The last call was 53 seconds long with no message--just girls voices in the background.

Annoying calls, at the worst times, often not even there.

This number called me 6 times in the last 3 days. I finally called it back and it was Pacific Market Research.

This # calls everyday! Last night called 7 times in a three hour period.

This is the 4th call that I've rec'd from this phone # in the past several days. The company name is blank,but Kent, Wa., appears on my caller ID. Now this is the 2nd call that I've rec'd today. When the answering machine picks up, they never leave a message. They just hang up. I don't answer calls unless I can identify them & I know who is calling me. I am on the "national do not call list." These calls are very annoying! I wish they would stop!

I have received 4 or 5 calls on my cell phone from this number - voice mail message on 2 of the calls. The messages states that Pacific Research is contacting tax professionals to conduct a survey regarding the IRS.

I normally do not answer calls from numbers I don't recognize or where the called ID info is blocked.

I have resolved to have some fun with them. I now answer most telemarketer calls as a reverse-prank-call. e.g., "Hello, NYPD, 20th precinct, may I have your name, please?" From there it gets real fun. I heard of one guy who pretends the telemarketer just called a crime scene, then begins questioning...name? company? relationship to Mr. "X", the deceased?... Ha ha ha!!!

These freakin A-Holes called at 9:15 PM on a Monday night to do a DirecTV survey. Are they kidding me?!!!!

Got the call, didn't answer. Googled it, and found this. Don't plan on answering if they call again after reading all of these comments.

Just happened to get a call that said "Washington Call" and I didn't answer it in time. I thought it might have been a friend from high school so I googled the number and came here. Needless to say I'm a bit disappointed that it's not my friend from high school. At least, I hope it's not my friend from high school...

Called but I did not pick up the phone as I did not recognize the phone number. They phoned at 6:17 PM which is dinner hour. Annoying!

These idiots have called my cell phone 2 times in the past week. I looked up the number and it says it's from somewhere in Washington state. I have no idea how they got my CELL number, as I supposedly have my cell number on the "do not call" list. Yeah right!

Called me at 4 PM. When I picked up the phone I could hear noise in the background, however, no one would ans. me.

These ppl need to stop calling in English & Spanish! Leave Me Alone! OMG!

Received one call from this number on September 12th at 4:54pm. Caller ID just said it was from Renton, WA. I actually did answer the phone, but no one responded. Their autodialer must be REALLY bad.

I received a call from them a couple days ago stating they had a survey for my wife... we declined... just called again tonight and then hung up on me when I told them I we had already declined their survey.

We answered the phone at 9pm, because almost no one ever calls us that late. We have small kids and we are just barely getting them to sleep when the phone rings! Upon hearing the marketing spiel, my husband said "do you realize you're calling me at 9:00 at night? the woman apologized, saying they're in the Pacific time zone. He asked not to call back, but they have been anyway. We put one phone on mute so the kids won't wake up. Tomorrow we'll see if our phone provider will block the # for us.

These people are CRAZY! They call me AND my boyfriend 2 or more times a day. I pick up and then hang up on them now. They are ANNOYING!! UGH!

HEY AL, I JUST CALLED THAT NUMBER AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD TAKE MY NAME OFF THE LIST AND APOLOGIZED...WE WILL SEE WHAT HAPPENS. HE SAID HE PUT MY NUMBER IN AS A DO NOT CALL AND IT TAKE ABOUT 24 HOURS FOR THE PROCESS TO BE COMPLETE..HOPEFULL!!

Just spoke to the company at 425-271-2300 (website pacificmarketresearch.com). There are humans there on a Saturday. Let's see if they do what they promised and never call me again.

They promised to take me off their list last weekend. Had 6 days of silence and it started again today. If you call the number back, it is Pacific Market Research and the message says they are not subject to the "do not call" lists and that their market research is very important. So isn't my peace and quiet. The next call from there when there is actually someone on their end will be interesting.

I tried to add this number to my AT&T call blocker here in Oklahaoma. The call blocker service would not let me block this number! What a scam!

Answered the phone tonight. They stated they were calling on behalf of a local college (told me later that it was Simmons in Boston wanting my opinion on MBA programs). I let them know my opinion about their calling 4-5 times a day for almost the last week. Funny that I just got word that I have been academicly cleared for my master's degree and will be receiving it shortly from another college in the Boston area. Coincidental..?

I have recieved atleast 3 calls a day for 5 days from these ppl wanting to get my "Opinion" on current events. I have asked them 4 times not to call and that I was uninterested. Today is Sunday and they have called 2 times, Alas agrivated with the situation I told them-without them asking any questions-I do not think Karr killed Ramsey-I think Israel has a right to defend itself-I believe we should be in Iraqi promoting freedom for others_I believe Jesus is the Christ-I believe all governments are puppets to one government and will never actually be interested in my opinions and this data is for nothing more that to separate me out from the crowd or to better understand how to sell something to me in the future. Is that enough information? His reply was well you cannot answer the questions that way, and I then told them, well it is my Opinion and beyond that you now have no other reason to continue to call me. We will see if they call again, but I can tell you this-Something is not right about this.
These calls have started from various companies to both my home and work since i have removed my address from a public web page which they are posting photo's of all the private residences of the country to better locate them in the future.
I am not paraniod and actually am having a bit of fun with this, but no-one can ever deny the oddness of this entire situation, since nothing like it has happened to me in my previous 36 years of life. Best of luck with your own situation.

I just started getting calls from this number. Got 3 calls today (8/15/06) but did not answer. Reverse phone number lookup shows it's from Renton, WA. That's all I know.

I too received three calls in three days - two of them within the same hour. The report shows this is out the the area. I can't find it on the map. What does that mean?
