How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the
FTC. - Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

Recorded message about "Best Carpet Cleaning"; pressed "1" to speak to an agent; mentioned the Do-No-Call list, she said "Shut up!" and hung up.
Have received calls from this number several times. When I pick up, the caller just hangs up. I suspect something fishy, or someone who has nothing better to do with his/her/its life.
If this is for carpet cleaning, you can try them at 888-279-6050. Ask for their location or website - they won't give any info and will likely hang up on you. Google that number for more links to phone numbers that they spoof.
The best way to deal with this caller is schedule an appointment and then cancel when they show up.

Call received on 6/2/2007 at 11:45am PDT. Did not answer. No message left from caller. I reported it to donotcall.gov .
got a message from best carpet cleaning. Pressed 1 to schedule an appointment and as soon as I started to complain about the call, they hung up. ID had the last person they called. They manipulate caller ID.
Automated call from "Best Carpet Cleaners". Gave me an option of "1" to talk to an agent or "8" to be removed from their list. I entered "8" so we'll see what happens.
I got a recorded call about carpet cleaning. When I pressed 1 to "schedule" I asked who the company was. "Best Carpets" was the reply. I attempted to tell her that I was on a do not call list but she hung up on me before I could get the sentence out.
A few minutes later I got a call from someone wanting to know who called him from MY number. Seems that my number came up on his caller ID from a recorded telemarketer call that he just got.
I answered and said hello. No answer. I said hello?, hello? They hung up.
