Called to enquire about a purchase and past due delivery,notified disconnected.

This is a fraudulent company posing as paypal. I called the real paypal at 888-221-1161 and there was no record of this charge to my account with the real paypal. I was able to persue this charge with Bank of America.

I got a call this morning from this number. I simultaneously got an email from PayPal confirming that a $218 charge had gone through to my account. I had not made this online purchase. I checked the credit card account that backs up my PayPal balance, and found that three more online purchases had been made. I was glad I took immediate action both through calling PayPal directly myself and the back-up credit card company. The car stereo that was the first fraudulent charge was to be shipped to someone located at the Pondview Apartments at 2565 Ivy Ave E #211, Maplewood, MN 55119.

Called today to remind me to log on to their site and check their latest policies.

This is a FRAUD ATTEMPT. Number is registered to PayPal, but it is being spoofed. I just got a call from this number on my cell phone. PayPal DOES NOT have my cell number.

Using Paypal since 2001; this week, when paying for an eBay purchase from the CC attached to my PayPal account, I was asked to perform an account verification. The screen asks if you wish to do so immediately (which is done by phone) or by transaction (I assume they make a small deposit which you need to confirm seeing on your statement). I chose the phone method, and this is the number which called me (within seconds!) with the automated call giving me a 4 digit code to enter onscreen in order to proceed with my Paypal transaction. This is their way of verifying that the account holder (as identified by the phone number in the account) is truly the one attempting the payment.

If you do have a PayPal account, and you received this kind of verification call seemingly unrelated to any PayPal transaction you undertook yourself, then you need to face the very real possibility that someone else has gained access to your account. If you do not even have a PayPal account, someone may be using your credit card and billing information.

This showed up on my credit card for 95.00 i do not know how it is.

IT IS FROM A CRIMINAL COMPANY CALLED PAYPAL, IT IS OWNED BY EBAY AND THEY HAVE A HISTORY OF STEALING MONEY.

I simply detest PayPal! Unfortunately, sometimes a necessary evil. I had bought something that morning on E-Bay and had no other choice, but to use PayPal. I didn't remember my password, so I had them send it using an E-mail exchange method. All was fine, I logged in, bought my item...

Then, an automated call that night at 12:30am, woke me out of a dead sleep! It said it was PayPal and I have to verify my account by entering in my web id code. I wasn't awake enough to even think straight, so I just hung up, only to have the phone ring again with the same message. I hung up again. Now very much awake, (and really pissed!), I got on the phone with PayPal and asked them WTF? They said they had no record they called, and suggested it was someone else trying to scam me. I checked my Vonage account the next morning, and sure enough it was PayPal. I called back, and they said "Oops, sorry... Is there anything else I can do for you?". --My sleep is more important than an: "Oops, Sorry!" I filed a complaint with the FCC.

Got an email from "paypal" claiming:

I did not forget my password. They didn't call me but they are trying to get me to call them. I logged onto my paypal account with no problem, no problems with my history, not a chance I am calling that number and there is no reason for me to have received this email, unless someone tried to login using my account. I reported the email to paypal.

This call came into my cell phone which only is used for close friends and family. The lady said she had the wrong number right after I said hello. I decided to call it back and got an automated PayPal line. Then I googled it and found that many people had unwanted charges to their PayPal account and credit cards in connection with that number.

what is happening on this number? 402-935-7733, they called me 2 times, I think this is fraud calling or something else.

Same thing happened for me: 402-935-7733 called, asked me to call the 866-877-4983.

Instead, I logged into my PayPal account, went to Contact Us, and called THAT phone number. When the recording asked what I wanted, I just said "My Account" and then pressed 0 for operator. I told the operator what happened. He did NOT have a complete list of PayPal phone numbers. I was transferred to another department. He looked it up and said, YES, both numbers are internal PayPal numbers to their collections department.

My account had been negative a week ago and I just payed it last night. They were calling to tell me it was cleared up and my account was ready to use. That's IT.

Don't believe me - CALL them yourself, through the contact number in your PayPal account. Of course it is not going to be the same number as their customer service number.

This was a legit call from PayPal to ask about potential fraud on my account.

Hang up- no message

This was a live call for PayPal, or so they said. They asked for my wife and I told them she wasn't available and asked for a name/number & they refused, saying they would call back. They didn't reveal who they were.

found this number on my credit card statement. I called PayPal they said that Paypal Rapidshare has nothing to do with them. This has to be a fraud

This is a legitimate call from Paypal's resolution center. They called to inquire about questionable activity on my account-- thank lord they did. The transactions in questions were in fact fraudulent, someone had hacked my account and was sending money somewhere in Japan. The reason that this number shows up on people's credit card statements next to transactions is because it is Paypal's phone number and Paypal is usually the currency intermediary for said transactions. THIS IS NOT FRAUDULENT. Just want to set the record straight.

i have seen this number on caller i.d. and never answered it....now may '08 creditcard has me billed for appr. $210.00 total 3 occasions (fraudulent) with this # as reference

This showed up on my husband's credit card billing from a John Doe. At first I was alarmed because I suspected fraud, but my husband had actually bought a CD and the amount was correct (it was only about $10) and the phone # is just the paypal number apparently. There was no fraud on our account, everything was valid--but the false name was probably just to protect the private merchant who didnt want others to know their info.

I found this phone number on my credit card bill, trying to hit me with a $1625 Barbie from Mark Paypal. I am currently arguing with my credit card company about the charges.

I recieved a phone call from this tonight as well. I screen my calls as they come in to a work line and this appeared on my caller-ID. It was a hang-up phone call so I ran the phone number and found this page. Thanks guys, quite a little spam phish there.

I thought this might a phishing call. I called PayPay using the number on their site. The merchant services rep said their records indicated that a call had been placed from them. CSR said it was a call explaining the chargebackpolicy, and he gave me the information.

When in doubt, call a known number.

Called this pm stating they were a courtesy call from PayPal, wanting me to give them my account information, not verify it, but for me to give it to them. Told them I don't give out account information over the phone and hung up to a "But Ma'am"

they claimed to be paypal and asked for my boyfriend. this is my cell, not associated with his account. scam artists most likely. don't give them your info.

thius phone number appeared on my credit card bill with a paypal charge to Carolynskit.....$64.95 was charged to my account...i am in process of disputing this transaction....this person is a hacker

Paypal would never call. They would send an email.

I haven't dealt with paypal don't know why they'd be calling me
