Did this site get yet another illiterate spam from ''JunkCall''? He's been pushing that sorry ''1800JunkCall'' website for weeks, while siphoning all its user content from 800Notes.

Nothing about JunkCall's little slapped-together project will ''put a stop'' to anything. Two of the four categories cited in his spam are besides exempt from DNC list scrubbing, therefore harder to control.

i have informed them numerous times that I am on the DO NOT CALL list and asked them to stop calling me to no avail.

calls repeatedly asking for an "update" to their database, when I ask what this is for they say that it is for online search engines, I tell them we are on the DO NOT CALL list and to take us off their calling list, to which they reply that it is an outbound call center and they can not do that.

Caller is indeed INFOUSA.com ...as others have mentioned below. If you are a legitimate small, brick and mortar business owner...you DON'T want to IGNORE this caller...assuming you want customers to be able to find you in the various major business directories and yellowpages...especially if you are a new business. They are a database management/supplier company (probably the largest) and all they're doing is verifying (once a year) that your business contact info is current and correct. Need more info?...look here: infousa.com . . . This is NOT a sales/scam call of any sort. A word to the wise: do a little homework on Google before blowing off a caller as a telemarketer/scammer. Ignoring this one could hurt your business immeasurably. Just call back, speak to a real person and they will explain what I just have. Takes 60 seconds.

I love when I get these calls. The guy asks for me, and I say "who's calling." I repeated myself and he said, "Kevin Scott." NOT. Made up name. I asked him from what company. He says "Is this Rick L....?" I said again, "from what company." He says "I've already answered two questions." I said, "No, only one," and hung up on him. Usually I'm not that nice and drop F-bombs on these guys. Don't EVER admit who you are until these people tell you from what company they are calling. Technically, I don't think they can say their pitch unless they get confirmation that you are you. Drop some sh*t on them. It will make you feel better.

Some company called InfoUSA. When I made the mistake of answering, they wanted to confirm my address, city, state, etc. When I asked them what they were calling about, they continued that they wanted to confirm my information. I asked why. They just kept on trying to get me to confirm. I believe they are collecting information to sell to other scum bag telemarketers. STAY AWAY FROM THEM! You'll be happoer.

Answered the phone called it rang two times then I heard a lady asked how she can reach "my business name" but the weird thing is she called it by the DBA that I am about to register tomorrow my company names is just a little different. I just hung up when she knew that she must of obviously saw it on our website as it is the only place where that is.

Operator called asking for owner to confirm on-line listing. When we informed them we did not want to be included, they said we had to or send in writing the request to be removed. When we asked for the details they hung up.

this company calls every couple of days. this is getting riduclous. they advise on the machine they will only remove your number if you provide a letter on business stationary. it also says it will transfer you to an operator but just routes you back to the same automated messaged over and over again....i even already registered with the national do not call registry and it dosen't help...

Someone told me they are looking for money to buy atomic bombs,guns and start another war with USA-- that the info I Have.

When a solicitor calls, be happy. YOu have to get a name and phone number in order to report them to FTC at their website...donotcall.gov. The catch is you have to have BOTH name of business and their phone number. Sometimes solicitors trick you by not givin a real phone number on caller ID or they hope you won't report them. You have to report to FTC. I believe if they have enough complaints, FTC will forward all the complaints to the appropriate agency for criminal and/or civil prosecution. But you do have to report the violation.

Called my home number and wanted to update a business listing for a business that they said is listed in my name. It wasn't the correct business name, and I noticed that I've received junk mail addressed to that name. When I asked where she was calling from, she said INFO USA. When I asked what they do, she said they provide information services to thousands of businesses, made it sound like a D&B. Asked her to take the number off the list, and she said I would have to go to infousa.com to do that. This is a company that sells your contact info! I won't answer next time.

Called twice Thursday, FOUR times Friday. Info USA. They collect information on businesses and sell it to those who will telemarket to the business later. I have them blocked, so all they get is a busy signal.

We got a new phone line installed at work that I use to test my modems on.

I just finished polling a cash register and the phone started ringing. I picked up the phone, just to hear a ringing tone. Moments later, a female voice came on the line saying "hello". I just hung up the phone rather than get into a debate as to why we were connected.

Since my line doesn't have call display, I used Bell's *69 feature, and it told me what my last call number was (I never make outgoing calls on this line so I knew this had to be the number that dialed in.)

i just got this call today at work asking questions: who's the manager, location, how many ppl working, manager's email (?), etc. i answered them since they already knew about the previous manager and i didnt see any harm. but i forgot what the woman said she was and what it was for. so i checked the id and all i saw was the number. then i checked the directory in the computer, and i saw omaha, NE and Qwest Corporation.

This is InfoUSA calling everyone - I haven't ever answered them because I believe they will then sell your number. They're a 'sales lead' company. They've left me over 5 voicemails in the past week, most were just static and some were background noise. It's important that people register for the 'do not call registery', it's donotcall.gov ; once you've registered, you have to wait 31 days I believe, but then you can report them every time they call you!! I've filed multiple complaints on them this week!

When they call, if you ask their Indian or Filipino representative: "What color panties are you wearing"? they get upset and stop calling.

Saw this number on Caller ID when I came back from working out. My opinion; just don't answer if you don't know who it is. They're morons but probably will keep calling. My caller ID simply showed the number and "Nebraska."

Said they were INFO USA. The woman said they were a company that compiles information for search engines. She started to ask questions about my business. I didn't answer them because I thought they were unneccesary. She wanted to know who I was. What the business address was. What phone numbers we use. How many people worked at my businesses. I told it was irrelevant who I was and I don't see why she needed to know how many people worked at the business. I said I would be happy to give her information if she could fax it over to me because I do not divulge such information over the phone. No one has faxed me anything and I am glad I didn't give out any information.

These people just won't stop annoying me. From what I can tell, they are boiler room whores shilling for a variety of scammers who are paid based on the number of calls they make. The Do Not Call list is irrelevant to them.

I was told that this is a small collection firm for both information and skip tracing for a number of credit and collection companies. I think their regular number is 320-587-3371

I used the phone number that a previous person had listed. I simply asked info usa to put me on their do not call list. After being transferred three times, to the guy who was identified as doing this all day long, he assured me I would be put on that list. I will let you know if it works.

Lady on the phone identified herself as being from the "American Church Lists" company which is owned by Info USA. She called our church number and wanted to "update" their database. She just started asking questions and I told her that I wasn't going to help her compile a list to sell to telemarketers. She didn't know what to say so she just said "have a good day" and then hung up. I used to work for a company that would purchase the database of all the churches in the US. The idea was that if you already were able to get the pastor's name off of their database, then they would be more willing to speak with you when you made a sales call.

Have received a call from this number two days in a row, always missed the call so I looked up the number and found this site. Im actually in nebraska, so they are calling us too. Thanks to this website I wont bother to answer that call.

California, I get at least 4 of these call a day from info USA. They ask too many questions and are extremely rude.

you can go to infousa.com and chat with them about why they seem to have some many people on computer redial- even after we've told them not to call. Or you can start a chat session and force them to wait. I felt better after wasting some of their time.- silly i know but after they called me every morning for 2 weeks I DO feel better

I'm near St. Louis--When I answered, woman said she had wrong number and hung up before I could find out who it was. Same number called a couple days earlier & didn't leave message.

Received on 2/20/2007 @ 2:06 PM EDT. I gave my usual greeting (company name) the woman on the other end simply stated "Sorry, wrong number" and hung up. I dialed *69 to get the last number called. I plugged it into Google which lead me here.

Received a call at 8:45am, Tuesday March 20th from 402-930-3659. I answered with my usual business name and greeting. The man on the phone asked if 'x' was my address and I said yes. He said "Does your street address have any more details?" I responded with "What is this about?" He said he was calling on behalf of Yahoo Canada Business Directory and needed to update my listing information. I confirmed my information (which is all available on my website anyway). The questions were "What is your street address", "What is your mailing address", "What is the owners name", and "How many employees do you have". After answering the questions the man simply said "That is all we need" and hung up.

Caller ID says Info USA. Maybe third time they called. Won't pick up as it is probably a sales call. They never leave a message.

Info USA used to put out cd's with personal and business contact info. This was in the early 90's before this info was readily available on line.

For those of us that get really annoyed by such calls, let me offer some advice. I have a Vonage line and I set it to go directly to voice mail. There's a courtesy ring on my end to let me know there was a call, but then my voice mail picks up. It removes the temptation of answering a mysterious call. Anyone who wants to get in touch with me will leave a message and a callback number. Anyone else can give themselves a digital prostate exam.

I have Vonage set up to notify me by email when I get a message so even if its an important call, there's not much of a delay.

Friends and family have another number that has call intercept (from Verizon). So no one gets through without first telling me who they are and what they want.

402-930-3659 called us in Wisconsin on 3.14.07 at 2:20 PM CST - when answered, there was ringing...then a women said, "I'm sorry, I have the wrong number."

peckerheads. I blocked my number and called them back... pressed enough buttons til I got an answering machine that asked me to leave a message. I left them the same message they had for me "sorry, wrong number". I feel better now. Those prozacs must be doing a good job for me.

These jerks have called 3 times in 5 days. The first time I answered and they said "I have the wrong #". The next 2 times they called shortly after 6 AM and just hung up.

He (Kyle - a Sales Manager) said I can check for removal by going to website daplus.us and search by company name or phone number.

Incoming phone call answered, automatically rings back to call center; female answered indicating she was with Info USA updating their records on Business listings. She inquired about the following:

infousa.com has been reported by 60 Minutes as being the largest data collection companies in the country. They collect personal information from may sources and compile it for sale to mortgage companies, credit agencies and the like.

i answered and a female voice said "sorry i dialed the wrong number" but i could hear alot of other callers in the back ground and they were saying the same quote then she hung up on me

Further info: I called InfoUSA at 800-321-0869, pressed 2, and told them I had just gotten a call from them, and asked to be removed from whatever the data is used for. They took my phone number, told me my business name, and said they'd remove me. I spoke to Anand.

Said she had the wrong number. I said, "this is Info USA?" She said, "Sir, we're just trying to verify if this number is disconnected, and apparently it's not." I said, "No, put me on your do not call list!"

OK - so I get the call on 2/26/07 that leads to a ringing like I made a call, so I hang up, then again yesterday I get a call with the older lady saying she got a wrong number.
TODAY, I get another call from the number - so instead of answering with the usual business greeting - I just said "hello". That threw this new voice into a tizzy. Then I got the "I'm sorry I got the wrong number" and she hung up. I do not know who they think this number belongs to.

I get a call Monday-Friday from Omaha NE. at 10:00 A.M. When I answer there is nothing on the line. It is very annoying.

they are only verifying your contact information. If you operate a business and would like to be listed under various yellow pages on the internet, then this company is actually helping you. I requested that my business be listed so that sites like aol or msn would post my information on their sites. The only other way is to pay for listings in your local yellow pages since that is the only way they can verify your data. Otherwise you have to submit your info and wait months to be added to their database. Basically, free advertising for my business.

Info USA asked the owner's name, address, and how many employee and e-mail address. They said to verify the info for search engine. I told all of our employee not to give any company info over the phone.

I answer my business line informally alot due to the type of calls I get. Because I answered with a "Hello" the woman seemed confused and apologized and said she had the wrong number. From Omaha, NE to my business cell phone. I didn't answer. If it really is INFO USA, then they actually are legit. They are verifying that phone numbers for businesses and those involved in business are accurate. They should do this at least every six months, verifying the phone for each business and/or organization is still a working number connected to that business.

they just called again today. yep they said infousa, they said they provide information about my business to search engines. they read out my address and business name and asked if it was correct. i said "we are shutting down our business so that address and phone number will not be available anymore. so you may as well take us off the list, but thanks anyways" they girl happily said "okay, thanks very much"......well, that's that, i'll post more info if they ever call me back =D)

INFO USA sells your data as business leads. Do NOT confirm any information from them. Not only is it a waste of your time, they will go ahead and sell your data to as many people who are willing to purchase it. Please trust me on this one.

Caller said it was info USA.com and they were an updater service for places like Google, Yellow Pages and so on. Interesting that I have to place my ad with these people on a yearly basis so why do they need to update anything. It was certainly a predictive dialer (boiler room) type of outfit and they were just fishing for new info. Why? Who knows. I have all the info available on the web for my business so why would I need to offer it to this guy.... not a good move, I wonder about this stuff and will not just offer up company info to just anyone that calls. Never heard of them before today and hope to never again. Just another list and more junkmail I'm sure.

Called stating he was from Info USA and was updating some records. Asked to verify company name and owner's name. I didn't tell him anything, giving out company info to strangers is not a good idea for any business.

They said it was INFO USA and wanted to "verify" our address and contact info.

I asked what the nature of Info USA's business was and was told they provide info to sites such as Yahoo business listings. I asked that my business info be removed from the list and was told I couldn't be removed from Info USA's files but that they would not distribute my info outside their company. As much as they knew about my business, they must have access to state records, so I guess I'll need to contact someone at that level in my quest to stop so many unwanted telemarketing calls.

INFO USA- they call every day on 3,4 different lines. This happens once or twice per year. When you answer, you hear ringing, then operator asks questions regarding who is owner of the company, what address, etc. I have asked many times to be removed, but they continue to call.
