What Can You Do to Assist in Our Investigation?

If you have been the victim of this telemarketing abuse, preserve all facts and evidence of the unwanted calls or texts. Save the message. Most voicemail services only store messages for a few days or weeks. As a result, record the message in another place so that you have it. Save your phone bills which show when the call or text was received. Keep all evidence of the harassing calls or text messages.

9/25/07 1:14pm seatac,wa no message. calls all day from 8:30am to 8:30pm. When I call the number back, I get a recorded disconnected notice ("we are sorry, the number you have reached is disconnected or is no longer in service...")

i get daily calls from this numbers with no one to talk to on the other end ....anyoying is in it? try that 3 to 4 times a day.

I get this call every morning, pick up and no-one is there, I am blocking this # from my phone.

Caller ID reads Insurance SVCS. I tried to call back to remove number but it said we are sorry you have reached a number that has been disconnected or is temp out of service “yeah right” they just called me. I guess I'll have to set this line up to the fax so that every time they call they get the fax line. See how they like that.

I found out this was an insurance company, they keep calling my number at least three times a day and most of the time if I answer I hear a sound like something from an anwering machine, will someone help me please to stop them...I am reporting this to Better Business Bureau.

It's very upsetting because my paralyzed life partner who sleeps near the phone is recovering from a major stroke. The calls are an evil nuisance.

I have received several calls from that NUFIC but tonight it said Omaha, NE. I have family in Omaha and thought someone was calling me. I called it back and it said "This number is no longer in use...etc..etc."

Asked for my husband by name. Said they were Homecomings Financial (our mortgage is thru them)I always tell them he isn't home, because he's working.
Last call I received on 6/22/07 at 1:30pm Pacific Time the caller was agitated. I felt this was a scammer calling, so I pushed redial on my phone and an operator came on saying this number is no-longer in service...........imagin that!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have gotten calls for a few days and haven't been home to get them. Of course they didn't leave a message... I tried to call the number and get my name removed as it was suggested but I got an operator recording that said the number was diconnected or no longer in service. I can only hope it has been disconnected.

It took me 2 phone calls from this company to get rid of them. The second time they called and asked for Robert (my son) I told them that he no longer lived at the phone number they called. Simple solution for getting rid of telemarketers

Several calls on caller ID over past two days. Just answered one: Person's name was Gerald - said he was associated with GMAC Mortgage and wanted to offer me low cost auto insurance.

They hu- no message left

NUFIC has been on my caller ID for over a week now. When I pick up (to tell them to quit calling), there is never anyone on the line, and it automatically hangs up after about one minute. I'm getting really irritated!!!

Yeah, this is some Fire Insurance company from Pittsburgh calling from Omaha. We have probably gotten about 20 calls from this company so far. I also found out they have been sued numerous times and have filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy. I don't answer their calls and I am not going to call them. I have filed a complaint with the national do not call list, government agency. We have been on the do not call list for over three years now. It is now in the hands of the authorities.

After many weeks of calls I finaly picked up the line and talked to the person. She would not talk to me as she is trying to reach my mother, this is my own home line and she does not live with us. I told them to never call again or I will report them, however, after seeing this site I am going to file now.

Receive 2 - 3 calls at work. Started the week of 5/21/07.
Has anyone had any luck getting the calls to stop? I work in a government office and we don't respond to any solicitation. It's weird they only call my extension and not the main line.

After getting calls 3 or 4 times a day I picked up and was nothing there, Usually indicitive of a computer controlled calling system, where it calls 3 or 4 numbers per rep and the first to answer gets connected, the rest are dropped.

Calls from this number everyday, all day long. No message being left. Our # is on the do not call list and has been recently updated. How & why do they keep calling? At the point now we are seriously considering changing our phone #.

I read all the complaints, most similar to mine. The one that stuck out the most was on 11/10/2006, stating to "call 800-316-5138 TO BE REMOVED from their "special insurance offers." They got your number from your credit card company OR your mortgage company. This is how they avoid having to comply with the "do not registry" list. ~ I called it and AIG said they can take me off within 24-48 HRS.

I got this call for the first time this morning. Caller ID NUFIC. I did not answer it, but rather researched it here.

Ever since I signed up for a Citi credit card, I've been getting a lot of sales calls from Citi and their annoying brothers in business.

This number called me for the first and last time and they will NEVER ring my phone again....why?

First, never ever give your cell phone number to a business when you open an account, like a bank, credit card company, etc.

For land lines, I highly recommend a phone service that offers "call block". I quite Verizon (basic service) last year and switched to Sunrocket VOIP phone service. There are other VOIP companies that offer "call blocking", some have $200 for 2 years (that's what I got) deals from time-to-time that give you unlimited nationwide long distance calling.

Simply, when I go online, I sign onto my VOIP's web site, and review my incoming/missed caller ID log, Any suspect numbers I research here. I then point to the "action" icon by the undesired phone number and select "block number". The next time they call, all they get is a rapid busy signal - forever and ever. Wooo Hooo!

Update - I figured out who to contact and how to get your name off of the mailing list.

I've been getting quite a few calls from NUFIC over the past few weeks. I wouldn't mind, but this is my business office number they keep calling. Not to mention that there's no one on the line.

Anyway, I called the AIG home office (parent company of NUFIC - aignationalunion.com) at (212) 770-7000. I spoke with the women, who was somewhat of a help. She gave me their Chicago branch number at (312) 214-8870 being that the call originates from Nebraska and that might be a better bet. She also gave me a marketing line at (312) 930-5300. I told her about this web site and that there's about 400 pissed off people regarding this phone number. I don't have the time to follow up with this, so if someone can take it from here and get this fixed. Thanks and good luck.

A woman called Saturday morning 5/5/07 claiming to be from my bank, Wells Fargo. Caller ID said "NUFIC". She tried to sell me some kind of insurance policy, saying if I woukd just look it over I would get a $$15 gas rebate. She claimed she was calling from northern Maine but number is Omaha, NE area code. She transferred me to some guy who was to verify my "personal informtion" at which point I politely declined. Sounds like some kind of scam to me.

Company keeps calling and leaving no message. My son answered once but they would not leave a message with him. Isn't there a limit to harassing phone calls?

Been getting calls from these people at least once a day for almost a year. after about a week i finally answer, they ask for someone who isn't me, i tell them they don't live here and they apolagize and say they'll take my number off their list and the calls stop for about a month then it starts all over again. been through this cycle about a dozen times now.

Oh! And one MORE thing...LOL...

Just because you ask to be placed on NUFIC'S DNC list doesn't mean that other companies that NUFIC writes insurance for can't call you...it just means that the company they happen to be representing at the time can't. For instance...Bob has both Wells Fargo AND Chase credit cards...NUFIC calls representing Wells Fargo, and Bob requests to be put on the DNC list. NUFIC can't call regarding Well's Fargo after 30 days...but they can still call for Chase. This is perfectly legal. The best thing to do is contact your senator's office in Washington, D.C. (good luck) and tell them that changes need to be made to the TCPA (Telephone Consumer Protection Act).

NUFIC doesn't buy phone numbers. Here's how it works. Various banks, credit card companies, finance companies, etc...decide to offer their customers an insurance policy. Since Banks are not insurance companies, they can't offer life/health/accident insurance. So, they have to find an insurance company to do it for them. The insurance company, in this case NUFIC, calls ONLY the customers that the client (i.e. Wells Fargo, Bank of America, US Bank, Household/Orchard/HSBC bank, Chase bank) authorizes. Since you already have an account with the bank/credit card/finance company, they can call you. If you want the calls to stop, all you have to do is say the following thing...WORD...FOR...WORD.
"I want to be place on your DO NOT CALL list." That's it. If you say precisely those words, the calls from that company will stop within 30 days. Now...having said that. Anyone who gets irrationally angry on the phone with a telemarketer and says, "...take me off your list..." or "...don't call my house again..." or anything like that, does not, legally, have to be placed upon the DNC registry. The best piece of advice that I can offer is POLITELY speak to the person that calls. Oh, and anytime you sign up for a new credit card / home loan / etc...request in writing at the time of your application to be placed on the company's Do Not Solicit list. It works...trust me.

We get calls at least twice a day from noon until 8:30 at night. They have never left a message.

We get numerous calls a day from this number. We normally don't answer but that hasn't helped, the calls keep coming. Next step I received the call but said nothing and about 20 seconds later they hung up. I have also answered the call without saying "hello" and told them they were calling a number on the Do Not Call list and they must stop immediately. My next step is to answer the phone and wait for someone to start yapping then put the phone on the hood of my car and start honking my horn!

14 calls today..two of which i told the 'man' to STOP CALLING....still calls so i looked up in the alaska phonebook(front pages) on call restiction...picked up the handset and dialed *60 followed instructions and it was super easy because nufic was the last number that called me. ACS telephone service allows you 12 restricted calls with no charge...now when this guy calls he will get a blocked call message...it's been over an hour and the calls have stopped. He's gonna have to find a new number...of course i'll restrict it too!

NUFIC,..has called twice today. I have no intention of answering the phone when they do call. I tend to dominate conversations from telemarketers, and ask such things as how they got my number, remove it, my Lawyer will be calling, I consider there activity as Hostile,..you get the picture. Once you say yes i am interested please send me the information they tell you that you will receive the information in about 10 days. you will have 30 days from that date to look it over and decide if you would like to continue.
THE PAPERS NEVER COME!!! we did this january 13 on Feb 23, 07 we showed $171.00 taken out of our account. showing a compnay called A I G DIS INS stands for "American International Group".
In the ps box it states this company is underwritten by National Union Fire Insurance COmpany of pittsburgh , Pa with their main office In New York , NY.
This is fraud !! Us Bancorp has no such offer!

My Vonage was down yesterday, so "luckily" this call forwarded to my cell phone. I *thought* I put myself on the cell phone DNC list, so I was just a LITTLE INCENSED that a phone spammer would call me on the cellular. When she asked questions about my insurance needs I fibbed about EVERYTHING just to end the call quickly. I then told her how angry I was that she was burning up my precious cell time! Ooops. Oh well.

Called Mr Guild Friday Feb 9, 2007. He told me he will investigate these calls and stop them.

Husband answered phone, asked for Kim Barnes and I was at work at the time and caller would not leave a message, said he would call back at a later time. On Caller ID it had NUFIC, so I looked it up on the internet and the first one that I clicked on was for a Bank Bankruptsy organization in Kansas, I just moved from Kansas but have not filed for Bankruptsy, but I also see that there are other things that show up for NUFIC. When I called the number back, 402-572-4073, I got an automated message "We have tried to contact you with an offer..."

The last phone call received from them was 1/31/07 with phone calls starting on 1/29/07 at least 3x/day. The caller ID is coming through as NUFIC. The phone number is 1-402-572-4073.

They have been calling continuously to my home number as well. I called 1-800-572-5838 and was told that NUFIC is an underwriter for Mortgage Insurance for AIG. You can be added to the do not call list for them as well.

KD on 2007-01-20 has figured out that if you have a business connection with Wells Fargo Bank, your going to get called. I have a car loan with these guys. Just paid off the loan and waiting for the title and hope that ends the calls.

It is Wells Fargo Insurance. The telemarketer said that we could get 1 million dollars in accident coverage. I asked about our skydiving and the main thing she kept repeating was that we would have 60 days to review the policy before accepting it. I admit I gave her a hard time. She was nice though.

repeated calls from this number, no messages left. very annoying

1/24 4:49 last known call. 37 calls total from them according to my phone. Never leave a message. I dont see how they make money off calling people and leaving them a dead line. I hope they get choked to death by their phone cords.

We've received numerous calls from NUFIC #402-572-4073 (name and number come up on caller ID). Over the past month we've received calls several times a day at first, now several calls a week. They don't leave a message on answering machine and won't leave a message with whoever picks up the phone if you're not the "name" they ask for. Our number is on the DO NOT CALL LIST . I recommend filing a complaint with FTC since they regulate these matters.

They call daily--I babysit infants, calls wake up sleeping children.

I got this call for the first time today. Don't know how they got the number as it is private. I guess some company sold our number to them. I don't want them bugging me so I'm reporting them today.

Got another from NUFIC today and finally was quick enough to answer. Basically its Wells Fargo trying to sell insurance. I asked them to add me to their internal do not call list. Woman was nice, we'll see if it works. National DO NOT Call registry does you no good if the company calling has a business relationship with you. Of course, my mortgage is held by Wells Fargo, so that at least explains why the National list did not prevent it. Perhaps that explains for some of the others here as well. National list should not have loopholes, but it does.

I get calls from "NUFIC" several times per week and sometimes several times per day. I tried answering a couple of times and got nothing but dead air. I am on the National Do Not Call list. Isn't there an $11,000 fine per occurance? Knock it off NUFIC!

Caller ID had NUFIC and the phone number (I used to live in Omaha) and just let it ring. Caller ID is so nice. I googled NUFIC and saw this site and will report the call. Of course it seems a lot of people get call from them.

I think the guy Sean who wrote a comment on 10-11 is the one who is calling and made up this story about the bag of money to see if some people would answer him, fricking people, do something honest and stop trying to rip off the other people ! ! ! ! Received 2 calls this week. First on 1/09/07 at 7pm, then on 1/12/07 at 5.20pm. I refuse to answer any unknown callers, so I didn't answer these. They just hung up after the machine picked up the call. My number is also on the Do Not Call List. Note to all telemarketers: I hate sales calls!!

Seeings how my family is in Nebraska I answered the phone. No one was there. So I looked up the number on google and here I am. I am reading these reports and it is kind of scaring me

This number has been calling me left and right for the last month. I was finally at home when they called and I picked up the phone. They stated that they were selling insurance on behalf of my credit card company. I told them I was not interested and hung up. About four hours later, the husband called and again tried to sell the same service.

Googled NUFIC and got a link to AIG. Called them and was directed to Laura L' Esperance at 212-458-1547, her assistant at ext. 42327 said she would look into it for me. We'll see.

They call several times a day every day. When we answer they hang up. We have an unlisted number and rarely get telemarketers calling.

They have called several times a day for over 6 months. When I pick up no answer. If I say do not call again, they laugh. Who has decided we have no rights to end such illegal uses of our phone? The do not call list does no good. Should all of us get together and file a petition law suit? Is there even an attorney brave enough to take on such irresponsible treatment by businesses-on contingency of punishment to the organization? If the Missouri State Attorney's office can have The DOVE Foundation fined for $70,000, then why can't the situation be valid for all of these firms?

These twirps called again! It's 8:24pm. As soon as I answered the phone, the rep asked if "--" was there. I immediately asked him to remove my phone number from the calling list. I also told him I was tired of all of the calls and that the last time I answered the phone, I was hung up on. He then said he would remove my number and if I liked he could give me a phone number. I said okay, then he said for me to have a good day. Luckily, I was able to ask him for the phone number before he disconnected the call. He says if there are any questions, I am supposed to be able to call 1-800-572-5838. Let's see what happens after tonight. This has gone on for too long....

This number NUFIC has called me several times, each day for the last couple weeks. I have not answered except finally tonight they called me at 7pm and I picked up. They hung up on there end. Thought it was kind of annoying them calling me everyday, and then hanging up when I finally answer. These calls are very annoying, and wish they would stop.

Call 800-316-5138 TO BE REMOVED from their "special insurance offers." They got your number from your credit card company OR your mortgage company. This is how they avoid having to comply with the "do not registry" list.

They call at least 3 times a day. Sometimes when I pick up, they tell me to hold for an available representative. They also will not tell me who they are or what they want. That's the part that makes the least sense to me. I'm tired of them interrupting our peace and our time. If this will help stop it, I'm all for it.

This company is obviously breaking the law. When I called them back they specifically stated something about an "offer" they were trying to reach me about. I am on the Do Not Call List. Under those guidelines companies are not allowed to sell anything using a telephone as long as your phone number is on the List. I suggest complaining to the parent company AIG, an insurance company. We can't let these people walk all over the law like this. I don't wish to be contacted via phone for a sales call and they should respect my wishes.

This guy Tony called and told me the cash would be in a brown and red plastic bag in the garbage can closest to the north entrance of Dry Creek Park. He said to come alone. I said "What money?" and he said "Don't play dumb with me, jerky!" I asked him how much money there was and he said "All Of It, You Scumbag"... How can this company possible consider this an effective form of solicitation. Or perhaps doing some kind of marketing effectiveness research, the results of which will be reported back to the true owner of this phone number? So, I'm a cynic. Sue me. It's just a sad side effect of the world we live in these days. It does seem to me, however, that there have been a sufficient number of reports made to warrant some kind of law enforcement involvement, not to mention a reason for whatever phone company originally issued the number to have it disabled. That probably makes too much sense, though. For now, I'll just take comfort in the "what goes around, comes around" philosophy. Good Luck!

NUFIC 402-572-4073 called August 16 twice, 17, 22, 23, 24, & 25. Prior to these calls, I did not keep a record. I never answered. I use six rings on my phone. This party cancels after 3 or 4 rings. According to the phone book, area code 402 is Lincoln, NE. I would like this to stop.

I have been receiving calls from this number everyday, several times a day for awhile now. I finally decided to answer and they stated they were with Direct Merchants Bank and wanted to offer me an insurance policy up to 2 million dollars. I would pay 1.00 for 2 months just to view it, and 21.00 a month should I accept the offer. I declined of course. I have never heard of having to pay just to view something. The man on on the line was nice, and did not try to hassle me. I just don't know if this was a bogus call or not.

If you call back the number, 402-572-4073, you will get an automated message "We have tried to contact you with an offer..."

You can then choose to either be connected to a telemarketer (yeah, right!), or you can use an automated entry system to add your phone number to a DO NOT CALL list within their company...

I added my # to the Do Not Call List, and let's see how many people they sell my phone number to... I guess only time will tell how many other telemarketing firms call next week.
