Caller Type: Telemarketer

March 22nd, 2009 DLW VA

I got one today.

March 15th, 2009 Steveo

Hung up when I answered.

March 1st, 2009 SHARON KS

I'M SO TIRED OF GETTING ALL THE TELEMARKING CALLS TOO. THIS IS SATURDAY AND GOT ONE FROM THIS NUMBER ALSO. THE CAR WARANTY CALLS ARE DISTURBING ME JUST AS MUCH. WISHES THEY WOULD SLL STOP!!!!!

February 20th, 2009 Sylvia

If the repeated calls from this number is my reward for doing business with Cox - than maybe it is time for Verizon.

December 16th, 2007 Resident PA

"Honestly. It's just the cable company, people!"
Lynn: No, it's a third party boiler room which fails to identify itself and confuses harassment with persistence. We are not "afraid to answer", merely annoyed with having to say "NO" several times yearly to undertrained outsourced reps who clearly ignore internal DNC filing requests.

"... pay yer debts so we don't have to pay for your's!"
Tim: You didn't read my operative phrase "junk debt buyers", referring to firms who make commissions by shaking down people for illegitimate debt. Their primary weapons are badgering phone calls and rudeness, since they usually lack legal grounding for their claims.

November 16th, 2007 Doug VA

get their names and home phone numbers from some disgruntled employee and spread it over the net forcing them to change their numbers! then take their employer to court and get the maximum $$ law permits.

November 1st, 2007 Sarah NE

Dear "Sue Em"

People with lawsuit happy mentalities like you are part of what's wrong with society. WHy don't you actually read the law before you blindly advocate filing complaints and lawsuits.

Everybody knows we can get calls from companies we have "existing business relationships" with, anyway. THis company's website say they call for Cox CUSTOMERS. No cold calls. Duh.
You are an idiot.

October 6th, 2007 Rika NV

I have called from this number twice a day since 3 or 4 months ago. I asked my husband to answer the call, and they just hang up on him. I have no idea what's going on. :(

October 6th, 2007 sue em NV

Some states permit you to file law suits in state court against persons or entities violating the do-not-call rules. You may be awarded $500 in damages or actual monetary loss, whichever is greater. The amount may be tripled if you are able to show that the caller violated the rules willfully and knowingly. Filing a complaint with the FCC does not prevent you from also bringing a suit in state court.

States also can bring a civil law suit against any person or entity that engages in a pattern or practice of violating the TCPA or FCC rules. You can contact your state Attorney General’s office or consumer protection agency with particular complaints, or to encourage such suits.

September 24th, 2007 Harry FL

I hang up when it is obvious it is a recorded call.

September 18th, 2007 Holly IN

No messages...calls all the time...annoying!

September 17th, 2007 E. Hall

I was called from tel. no. 402-934-6251, a telemarketer in Nebraska, who received my number via Embarq/Sprint. The telemarketer answered as Timberline Total Solutions.

September 12th, 2007 Mr.G NJ

They ask for me by name

September 8th, 2007 Joe NV

Got a call from this number and was heard on-hold music for 5 minutes. I stayed on the call because I was curious.

An American (not India) call center rep gave me a 2-minute customer satisfaction survey regarding my recent Cox cable Internet installation.

Didn't ask for any personal information, it sounded genuine.

September 6th, 2007 Charlie W. LINY NY

They called me at 8:36PM on 9/5/2007... no message.

September 5th, 2007 stopcallingme NY

I live in NYC & I just got my first call from them. Saw it on Caller ID and didn't pick up. They didn't leave a message. I'm registered with the no-call registry, too. Hmmmm.

August 30th, 2007 Tris GA

Just spoke with caller from Tota Timberline; told me they were a caller center and he was offering a great "deal" from Cox Communications. 5th call today!

August 29th, 2007 v compratt NV

Had the number mentioned above and the name "timberline tota" on my phone message several times today, but my phone had not rung. No messages left

August 29th, 2007 Judith McNiel CT

Timberline Tota shows on my Caller ID. Usually, I do not bother to answer it. They always call at dinner time. A couple of times I did answer, and they did say they were from COX. I already have Cox digital phone, cable tv, and high speed internet. I told them the homeowner was not here. Next time, I am going to answer it, get the person's name, and report the call. I am supposed to be on DO NO Call lists.

August 28th, 2007 Debbie GA

calls come sporadically, three times to date

August 23rd, 2007 Nick KS

after several hang up calls today they offered COX Digital Phone. Also my number is on the "Do not call list". I will file a complain.

August 22nd, 2007 H.S. VA

We have received several phone calls from this number. The caller hangs up as soon as we pick-up the phone. Will be reported to authorities.

August 22nd, 2007 ZLong AR

Just got off the phone with them. I've been on MCI neighborhood complete and I switched to Cox today. It's going to save me about $30 a month on my phone bill. Glad I took the time to check.

August 17th, 2007 Ted NE

"Timberline Total'---they called me. I have Cox phone. They're hired by Cox to call customers to see if they want any other services. I added internet serv. Got a good price.

August 17th, 2007 A.Niewola CT

Who or what is this "Timberline Total'?

August 16th, 2007 Kim CT

Called our home phine number didnt pick up. I thought it was friend but I didnt give her my number sicne she lives in NE. i dont give out our number to anyone I dont know and plus I dont answer to people I dont know and I dislike talking on the phone. Dont answer to these kind of calls cuz it's a waste.

August 16th, 2007 Paulette KS

Thanks for the info, I have put it on call block.

August 15th, 2007 Tim McD. NE

I watch this space for callers who DON'T display their name/#ID. THis company DOES, so no problems. But for those of you who can't pick up yer phone because of bill collectors & you don't pay for what you bought and consumed--pay yer debts so we don't have to pay for your's!

August 15th, 2007 Mike S. NE

I'd be angry if they DID leave messages on my vmail. Timberline Total calling for Cox--if you can reach me, fine, but don't use up my vmail!

August 14th, 2007 Wayne NE

some of my friends work at call centers and said that they aren't supposed to leave messages. takes up too much room on peoples voicemail.

August 14th, 2007 Kelsy CA

This number keeps calling me and not leaving a message. I figure if it was important, they'd leave a message but I wish they would just stop calling.

August 10th, 2007 Mary RI

I keep getting calls from them too. I'm filing a complaint right now with the Do Not Call listing. My fiance picked it up once, I thought they said they were some kind of surveying team. Maybe they were from Cox. Maybe we should contact Cox directly and see if they are legit. I have a feeling it may be some kind of scam.

August 9th, 2007 Lynn NE

I am amazed that people are actually afraid to answer their phone. Pick it up, tell them yes, no, later, not interested, or whatever, and move on! We have already established that this number calls for our telephone/cable co. Not people to be scared of. Honestly. It's just the cable company, people!

August 8th, 2007 Ms. P. D. Offed NV

I keep getting calls from a "Timberline Tota 402-255-5029." ARGH!

August 7th, 2007 Michelle NV

This number has been calling my home for awhile now. But the calls have been getting more and more frequent. I am almost at 6 times a day now sometimes.
I called the company and they gave me the whole 30 day crap (even though I am on the do not call list)She also told me after so long my name goes right back on the its ok to call list. When I said that wasnt acceptable and I know people who have had it taken off. That if she cant do it get me a supervisor. She put me on hold and ten seconds later came back and said my supervisor is not available to speak with you. You'll just have to wait the 30 days. So I called Cox a little more then ticked off.

August 7th, 2007 lisa NV

they call me today no message

August 6th, 2007 Whit NE

I used to work for a call center many years ago and you would be surprised how mean some people were that we called. All they had to do was say 'no thanks' or take me off your calling list rather than be so hateful. Just pick up the phone and tell them your not interested. They can call you if you buy from their company even if your on the DNC list.

August 1st, 2007 Resident MA

} You guys ever considered anger management?

Messieurs "grow up" and "I agree":

I am fairly sure most of the contributors to this database are not running a crusade against telephone pitchmen, nor are we so imbalanced that a cloudy day gives us ulcers. Yet every set of entries attracts at least one catcall about how we should "get a life". We do in fact have better things to do than track inbound phone calls, but some of us have no choice. Some are fighting junk debt buyers who are chasing money no one owes, others are working on legal battles, or for whatever reason we must closely monitor phone traffic.

I have more comments on this subject which are beyond the scope and posting capacity here, which will be shared on request.

August 1st, 2007 Resident MA

Cox has started with us again after a four month respite, lobbing three calls in the past six days with the same lack of identification. Their overall total is now fifty calls.

August 1st, 2007 Viejo NV

sales pitch, most of which was missed because caller's recorded message began before my answering machine picked up. 11:15 AM

July 31st, 2007 billf

These guys are a phone center for hire. Most of us are likely to be Cox Communications customers but they might have a couple other clients. The reason there sometimes seems to be nobody on the line when you answer is that they use a predictive dialer which dials through a list of numbers until they get an actual human to answer at which time the "call" is directed to a live human on their end. if you are willing to wait I'm sure they'll be happy to present you with some "money saving offers."

July 30th, 2007 Arlene RI

This company does outsourcing for other companies. Aren't we the lucky ones. My number is on the Do Not Call List. I guess it doesn't make any difference to these guys!!

July 24th, 2007 S Pedersen KS

They call probably ten times a day no messages

July 21st, 2007 Diana

This number calls my home phone at least three times a day, starting in the a.m. and continuing until evening. Never a message left, it's so annoying. Does anyone know who they are or how to stop it. This has been going on for weeks on end. They are relentless.
Ugh!

July 19th, 2007 Hall

I did not pick up .. just wondering whothehell this might be?

July 18th, 2007 John Jackson AR

They call twice a day, and never leave a message. I have reported them to the Nat'l Do Not Call Registry. This company is a nuisance.

July 18th, 2007 I agree NE

You're right. Some of these folks do need to grow up. I check this site out sometimes and so far think that the comments of people like "Resident" and "Spooky" are a lot scarier than telemarketing calls. You guys ever considered anger management?

July 18th, 2007 grow up NE

Do you really have nothing better to do than bait and beat up on people? If you don't want these calls, what is stopping you from picking up the phone and clearly saying that to whoever is calling you? Or is complaining and making fun of others how you get your entertainment?

July 15th, 2007 John NV

I used information provided by Spooky to complain to the BBB on them. Thanx Spooky!

July 15th, 2007 John NV

They start the call by going, "Hello, John?" Must be a friend of mine. Not. I simply say, "Who is this?" Never acknoowledging that my name is the intended caller. They go right into the pitch. I am calling from Cox Cable and since you are a prefered customer I want to offer you Starz for 2 months at $4.95 a month. I'm not interested in Starz, thank you anyway. Well, (he tries to do the math)this is still under $11 with taxes for the 2 months. It's not the point of the $11. I tell him. Starz is a bad channel and I wouldn't want it if it were free. Well, you don't like tv? he asks. I don't like Starz, I tell him. Have a good night. (Saturday,by the way) Ya, he replies as unprofessionally as he can. I am now going to complain to Cox Coomunications.

July 13th, 2007 Hose B AR

Thanks to those of you who have informed all of us that this is Cox Communications. They are likely calling me on my cell phone to try to get me to subscribe to their ridiculous land line service! While I don't respond to unknown exchanges who don't leave a message, this site has made it obvious that a huge majority of my unwanted calls are coming from Cox. Between this and their misleading commercials about the "advantages" of cable, perhaps it's time to call them and threaten to get satellite TV.

July 12th, 2007 glad I did NE

I picked up the phone when they called and got a great deal on my cable and internet service.

July 11th, 2007 Helga

No message. continuous calls every day about same time!

July 6th, 2007 Lee NE

I used to wonder about those "unknown" or "out of area" calls so I called the phone company and found out that if the company calling us is several states away, the different phone systems that the call gets routed through can't always display the company's number on caller ID that's several states away. Same thing happens with out of state personal calls.

July 4th, 2007 jcross1231 KS

Cox Communications selling their phone service

July 3rd, 2007 Eric NV

I am in Las Vegas, Nevada, and a Cox customer. I am very close to canceling service due to the enormous number of telemarketing calls. Cingular (now ATT) is almost as bad with the calls.

July 3rd, 2007 ArsonBuster TX

They have called me every other day for the last two weeks (2 wks). There has never been anybody on the line when I answered. I just received another call a few minutes ago. I called back immediately after this "hang-up". I was on hold for about thirty seconds (30 sec) before an operator answered. He was very polite and said he would take my number off of their call list within thirty (30) days. I told him, respectfully, that that was unacceptable; I wanted my number removed ASAP. He put me on hold for about two minutes (2 min) and came back with "you're all set; your number has been removed". It was very easy...if it actually worked.

P.S. He said it was Cox calling.

July 2nd, 2007 Sara NE

guys--end the frustration once and for all. Just pick up the phone and tell the telemarketer plainly at the beginning of the call, that you want to be on Cox's DNC list. Being on the federal list doesn't stop companies we have current accounts with from calling us. The DNC law says that. Check this out on the FTC's site: www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/buspubs/tsrcomp. Telemarketers want to talk to people who want to listen. If we don't want to hear the sales pitch, then we have to pick up the phone and tell them to dnc us with the company.

June 30th, 2007 Jan NV

They called at dinner time and did not leave a message. We ignored it because the caller was not identified.

June 28th, 2007 Joshua Hoover NV

Just call the 402-255-5029 and they will automatically remove your # from their list

June 27th, 2007 Nicole KS

this number called me today who is it does anyone know?

June 27th, 2007 Lea AR

The number shows as "out of area" but I did not answer the call. They didn't leave a message either. I have been receiving calls from Cox for the last 5 months until about 3 weeks ago. I thought I finally got a break from them. I guess they got tired of calling from a toll free number so they used a different number this time. Thought they could fool me? I only answer calls from numbers that I know. And if the call is important they'll leave a message, that's what an answering machine is for.

June 25th, 2007 Pam NV

I to have been receiving these calls 4-5 times a day, today I finally answered and told them that I am on the national do not call list, they said they have to transfer me, so stay on the line. they hung up on me. So they are calling to sell you more service for cox communitcations. so I cox myself 702-383-4000(las vegas local #) when you get computer, just say speak to human and then press option 1 for sales, tell them you are getting these calls, and they can put you on the do not call list for their company. I also told them I am reporting them to the National do not call list, for not following the rules, to do this follow this link www.donotcall.gov sick of these people calling me, our service sucks and we pay almost $100 a month, and would NEVER use any of their other services

June 25th, 2007 Charles NV

I picked up the call from "Timberline Tota" on Caller ID, and it went straight to hold music.

June 23rd, 2007 rosanna

she called offering a promotion for cox cable free installation and 1/2 price monthly charge for 6 months. she asked for my ss # for credit purposes and physical address.

June 18th, 2007 John NJ

I called, gave them my number. They said that it was related to a COX promo. I asked to be put on the DNC list. They said 30 days to process and were very receptive to my comments and concerns about there being numberous missed phone calls which in my view were not warranted after the 2nd failed attempt.

June 12th, 2007 Jones CT

they call everyday twice a day.

June 7th, 2007 Spooky

Why oh why do these idiots pick on law enforcement, PI's, and spooks like us? OK folks crank up your fax, email, letter writing, phones, and Omaha NE front door pickit lines. March 29th, 2007 Paula

These Cox Communications people call often. I have asked to be taken off calling list but they do not do it. If I do not pick up, no message is left. Very, very irritating

Seven calls have come since 03 March, no messages. Recognized number from two blitzes in Spring and Fall 2004. In that year 39 calls were logged. Both campaigns began a few days into a given month, just like this one.

When I intercepted a call in June 2004 the culprit was Cox, via a call center in East Nebraska. As our RI household is a subscriber they can call all they like under Federal DNC. Here is a transcript and notes from that conversation:

. . . . . . . . .
Took this call, determined to get these clowns to quit. A man of raspy voice and stumbling tongue butchered our last name, right on cue. Told him that now we have received eleven calls in the past week, and they have to stop now. Then I let him
continue.

man: "Dis is Cox Commoona .... Cox Communications."
me: "But this is a Nebraska exchange."
man: "Yeah, dat's where we are."

He went on to see if we were interested in the Cox telephone service. I turned him down flat, and bluntly requested removal from the autodialer and their call list, and to not share the number with anyone else. He ended the call with scripted thanks.

Five months later they were back with the usual volume of repeated calls, right through December.

If your phone # is on the national DO NO CALL Registry, file a complaint. If enough people file, the Feds could slap with a very substantial fine for violating DNC list.

I urge you to file a complaint; I just did.
