My parents get a call on their cell phone from what answers as "X-press. Whenever we call back, we never hear the full "American Express", so maybe that's a way for them to trick people?
My parents DO NOT have a AMEX account. What's odd is when you call the number back, a automated system comes on asking for your 15 digit card number.
Now, I've never heard of ANY company that asks for your full card number.
Very interesting, Mr. Miller .... No lender already holding your account should need bank data as "verification" of identity. What else was the SS number and signature for at the time of application? Four days delinquent sounds pretty thin as a reason for account suspension, possibly a lie. You'd best hope they don't persist and hand off the dispute to favored scofflaw attack dog GC Services in a couple months.
I received a call from Michael Nelson, an American Express collector who exchanged pleasantries and then asked me to verify the last four digits of my checking account to identify myself. Don't be fooled!!!! He was slamming you so that you would "agree" to make a payment on your account. Little did he know that I had already made the payment and my bank didn't process it. He went on and then stated my account had been cancelled and he would reactivate it. For being 4 days late. The first question, it should have asked is we are not showing a payment, did you make one???? Collectors are being ruthless and I know people lie to them all the time but as a collector myself and I am been told stories you would not believe. Protect yourself - never verify who you are by giving the last four numbers of your checking account because when you do you are giving "Permission" to make the payment.
This number is listed on some other sites as a phishing scammer who purports to be AMEX collections or security and tries to obtain personal information. Others have reported asking AMEX and they confirm it is not a valid number. Other numbers reported include 954-503-2843 and
336-393-7010.
This is AMERICAN EXPRESS collections dept not a scam. They are legit. This is their North Carolina call center. Representative verified ALL my account info. I was late on a payment by a whopping 3 days and they began to call relentlessly. Their Greensboro call center uses many different 336-393-#### lines to call out from. There are dozens if not hundreds or thousands of numbers with that area code and exchange that belong to Amex. If they are calling you, YOU or SOMEONE ELSE who had your phone number or who gave Amex that number at any time is what the collections people have on the account. These are NOT telemarketing calls. Very nice rep told me this Greensboro Amex call center handles collections issues only and has NOTHING to do with customer service or telemarketing.
multiple calls; no voice; hangs up. *69 dials back; line busy
This seems to be the same amex scam they have been doing with 954.503.2843
Received some calls from this #.... I guess it is AX. Im not gonna pay them LOL
This is American Express - they keep calling my business (I answer the phones here at the office) and they just hang up after a few seconds. I called it back and it rings and rings until a generic voicemail picks up with no name attached (just empty airspace when the part where the name is said).
does not leave message but calls 2 or 3 times a day.
The woman just kept saying hello into the answering machine about three or four times and then hung up.
