They keep calling and hanging up

2012-08-28 18:06:52 UTCJudy Hooks

Caller asked to speak to my father, who is deceased. When I told him I was on the DoNotCall registry, he hung up.

There is a very simple solution to put these scammers out of business. Just don't answer calls from unknown numbers! If everyone stopped answering these calls, scammers would be out of the robo call business in only a few weeks. This goes for the relentless political calls too. Get ready, they'll be starting soon.

someone selling extended warranty for auto

2012-08-09 17:37:06 UTCJohnBoy

This is NOT Verizon. It is a call center spoofing numbers and trying to sell extended auto warranties. They are not friendly and will ignore your requests that they stop calling you. Once you've answered, the calls will become more frequent.
I have filed a federal complaint using the link at the bottom of this page. I hope everyone else who comes to this page will file a complaint as well. That is probably the only hope for stopping -- or at least slowing -- these annoying calls.

I do not want these people calling me!!!

Claim to be a company known as "Auto Processing Department" which is not a valid company. Very rude and are trying to sell extended auto warranties. I have been on the DO NOT CALL registry for the past 8 years and it is illegal for them to contact me so I reported them to the FTC via the do not call registry's complaints page.

2012-08-08 16:05:05 UTCJR

Claim their company name is the "Auto Processing Department" which is not a valid company name and before that falsely claimed to be associated with Toyota (suspect this changes to whatever make auto you may have). They keep calling to request extending my auto warranty. I asked at least 3 or 4 times for their company name and they in turn asked another question, which is not only evasive but suspicious. I said I wasn't interested and they were very persistent. I finally reported their phone number via the FTC Do Not Call Registry complaints page for possible criminal lawsuit action.

Maybe next time, Holdren, you won't seize upon other people's faulty comments or the North American Numbering Plan reference at the top of these pages and confuse a phone carrier with the call source. Venting here in all caps every few days is apparently doing nothing to help your blood pressure. It certainly does nothing to help your fellow readers.

Once more, the federal DNC program already does its job. Part of *your* job is to report each violative call to attorneys general and the FTC. By ''violative'' is meant calls which are actually illegal, such as the fake warranty pushers, and not those which merely bother you personally, a distinction which has been lost on you when griping about survey calls.

These people call my home constantly most everyday sometimes more than once a day. I do not answer and they leave no messages. WHY??? Others say they are calling about auto warranties which makes sense why they're calling me. Others also say they are very rude. Since I don't answer I can't say. I DO say they are a HUGE nuisance in my home since they call all the time! Get a real job you idiots! DO NOT CALL REGISTRY.....DO YOUR JOB!!!!!

2012-07-30 16:05:48 UTCcholdren

Verizon calls have gotten to be the biggest nuisances ever!!! Call after call, early am to late pm. They don't leave messages....cowards! Go back to school and get real jobs you ignorant people instead of bothering "real" people! DO NOT CALL REGISTRY, do your job!

Another scam, something you may try, I unplugged my landline phone from the wall for about a half a day during the time that I usually get this calls and went from up to 3 bogus calls daily to 0. That only lasted about a week but it was a week without stupid interuptions. I can't say if there is a reason or if it was just coincidence but I will be unplugging my phone again.

I've been getting these calls every day and decided today to pick up; caller ID lists "service call". A male came on and asked for me by name; I told him to put my number on their do not call list and he acted as if he couldn't hear me. He kept asking for me by name and several times I told him do not call this number again. He said he'd call back. I hung up. Why do these idiots think they can be annoying and expect to make a sell?

2012-06-04 17:11:45 UTCJohn

FTC should put Verizon out of business.

This number beeped as a call waiting while I was on another call. I didn't take it, and it went to my phone company voice mail instead of the answering machine. The voice mail system always states what number the message is from, and here's where you can see that it is spoofed. Even though my caller ID shows "Service Call" from 315-939-1963, phone company voice mail says that the call came from "000-000-0000".

A male voice actually left a message asking for me by first name only, then said nothing more and hung up. I could hear other people in the background, sounds like a call center.

Checked on a variety of web sites, and they are pushing car warranties and already have your information. This fake car warranty scam is getting pretty old. Don't bother talking to these people. They seem to enjoy the attention.

must have been really important...they didn't leave a message ;)

How do I stop them from calling?

  1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
  2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
  3. Block them with a call blocker:
