From what I have read most people are getting calls from them on their cell phones. They call my house. The guy who called said that I had a past due balance with pay day loan. I have never had a loan with those idiots. He threatened me with the Police coming to my house, them taking my house from me and several other things. I told the idiot off.

I started getting calls from this number 2 days ago. Thank God I have call block...but after 10-12 calls in a 2 hour period I am really concerned. I don't want to have them start calling any other phones that I have. My cell was called.

Verizon and the Police finally after two years have found out where these calls are coming from….using cellular triangulation….. authorities say that a girl was killed driving her car while talking on her cell phone……… the girl was then buried with her cell phone and the phone has been calling random numbers every sense. …………

Had 10 calls from this number today. I finally blocked the number as these calls are so intrusive, actually harassment. They don't leave a message or talk, just hang up.

Received a call from this number, then lo and behold a text from E-Payday-Loan saying they miss me. I think these spoofed calls are a way of finding out if the cell phone number is valid before they send out their text spams. BTW, I have never done business with E-Payday-Loan or any payday loan company for that matter, so it's obvious that my personal information has been stolen.

They start calling me today for total of 9 times!!! as of 7:37pm. I will file a complaint

I hate these solicitors, they called 6x! 5am, 6am...almost every hour! They woke my baby up 3X!, so now I am totally P.O.ed!!!! Have received several calls over the past few 10 days or so. When I return the call from an unlisted, unpublished number, I get a message from Verizon Wireless, which says "the number you are trying to reach has been changed ... or is no longer working." Obviously, it works ... but only one way, and its becoming annoying.

5 times today, each about an hour apart. Finally answered, and they hung up. Automated dialer that's broken?

Several calls this morning. No one there hen I pick up, Verizon Wireless message saying the number is no longer available when I call back. Filed a complaint and blocked the number.

I got call almost on the hour for four hour when i tried to call back it said the umber was disconncted.

Received 10 calls today. Finally answered like many of you only to get a hang up. Called back and found line disconnected. Googled the number and found this blog. Unbelievable. Will log a compliant with donotcall and block number. Can't believe this can't be stopped and has been going for so long. This must stop.

That's why I have Callwave...always answers the phone for me. Unless I know who it is, I don't answer. The phone call originates in Playa Del Rey California.

Ignore these calls. This number is attached to a reverse phone number look up company. They want to harass you to force you to look it up for a fee. It vcan be stopped by contacting the United States Attorney General's Office. Look that number up and call it. This maggot will go away.

rec'd calls from this number on 12/1/10 in the afternoon. Why can't Verizon disable it. This is a criminal act. Let's file a civil suit against Verizon for this. Let's rock their bank account. Follow up and we'll stop this or Verizon will pay.

I added them as a contact so I could send the calls straight to voice mail, but it's still annoying seeing the missed calls!

This is Paypal.com. They call my cell phone when my son requests a transfer to his student account to verify it. They will try to reach you numerous times, 24 hours a day if you have a transfer like this pending. Not sure why they are calling people if they did not already know this, but that's who this number belongs to.

this number has been calling me every hour for the last five hours. I used a feature that t mobile offers for a trial period to block certain numbers from calling your phone. I am going to block this number....how frustrating!!!

When I call the number back, it says it is a verizon call, and the number has been changed, disconnected or is no longer in service.

They won't stop calling!!!!!!! Then when you return the call it says it's a disconnected number.

I have a chronically ill child waiting for a transplant; we are on the Do Not Call list.

This freaking demon dialer has been ringing the phone every forty-five minutes since 6 AM; it is now 10 PM. Our phone system has a second line that will pick up instantly, so the first time that the other number was called, we had it locked.

It was a message, ostensibly from the Republican Party, 'reminding' me to vote, but I doubt the authenticity of the message. Maybe some other party or candidate playing games?

I'm having the same problems as everyone else on here! They call me once every hour on the hour and then like two minutes after the first call they call again. Nobody on the other end it just dissconects. I tried calling Verizon since they are phone carrier but my phone is to old and I need to upgrade to a new one in order to be able to block it! I called the Police and they can't do anything either since there is nobody to get a hold of. I'm so annoyed its not even funny! I either have to go buy a new phone, or change my number to get this number to leave me alone!

Multiple calls, No one answers, just dead air. Not sure of who it could be, all I could find out was it is a California number registered to the verizon wireless network. Calling the number identifies it as being disconnected, however phone calls can still continue.

Who are these clowns? They called my cell phone in half-hour to 45 minute intervals throughout yesterday (10/3/2010), with the last call being around 11 PM EST.. First they have too much nerve disturbing me on a Sunday. I call the number back and I get a recording from Verizon saying the number was disconnected or is no longer in service (as several other people on this board have stated)I kept my cell phone in my pocket so I waited for them to call again, which they did at 10:30 a.m. EST, and I answered so I can give them hell...but nobody was on the other end..just dead air. This is very annoying.

People on this board said calling Verizon was useless so I did not bother calling them, but I am going to take this one step further and contact my local FBI office. I want these calls to stop completely, rather than just simply putting the call on call reject.

I don't answer a call unless I know who it is, the person didn't leave a msg then I looked up the number on the msg board. It appears the number is phishing for something.

Called the non-emergency number for the police dept in my area and they said they could not do anything unless the calls were threatening and most likely the calls were from a dialing system. I received this call twice and am learning quickly not answer my phone (and eat up my minutes) if an unknown number pops up. I did a google search on the number and found all of these other complaints about this number. I, too, am on the "do-not call" list, which doesn't seem to mean much.

Just received this call at 10:02PM CST on my cell. I *am* on the do not call list, but apparently that means nothing? I answered it - which I usually do not do if I don't recognize the number - but my husband is out of town and his phone has not been working so I thought maybe he was calling me from the hotel. i own a fundraising company and what happpens is we load a certain area code & prefix into the predictive dialing computer system.they dial thousands of #'s per minute and when someone picks up the phone your # is dropped then recycled through the system..it is very rude because sometimes u may pick up the phone & it will hang up on u because someone picked up faster..technology??..i live in pa.but the phone company can give me an area code such as 856/609 if i am calling the jersey area,so u may think that the call is local.if u are on the do not call list,that law does not exclude u from being called from charitable or political orginazations/that was the loophole when the do not call list was implemented..i dont condone some of these underhanded practices..if you ever have any ?'s please contact your atty.generals office,bureau of charitable org./different states have different laws..new jersey is very lenient..u write a check for 250$ and reg/your company and u r ready to go/in pa u are required to have a million dollar bond,pay 500 $ pyr.to call and pay 250$$ per campaign along w/the contract u have w/that orginazation...i hope that clears up some of the people who are being called 5-10 per day and the hang ups & the different area codes...gene

I have been receiving these calls too - on my Verizon phone. I just called Verizon, and they blocked the number for me at no charge. The block will expire in three mos, so I'll have to re-do the block, but that's no biggie.

I was talking on my phn at 7:30pm and I have call waiting. When I didn't recognize the number I didn't answer. My caller id showed playdelrey california. no name. When it called the phone just would have kept ringing. I wonder if we can report it on our do not call list as a sales call. Then maybe someone would investigate it. I hope they don't call back.

Call was recieved at 11:01 pm on Wednesday September 15 2010. No one spoke from other end so I hung up. Thought it was very strange to get an unknown call at this time of night.

@shannon: you're a dumbass. it's not verizon's fault just because they were the unlucky carrier assigned that number. if it's indeed being spoofed, the caller can use that number indefinitely. the reason it's disconnected is because could you imagine the nightmare if they gave that number to you? thousands of people calling or texting you daily, yelling at you to stop calling them when you aren't? that's why it's "disconnected", and the person doing the calling is most likely a computer and not a verizon customer.

Just got a call from this number. If you have a Blackberry or Android phone, you should be able to download an app called SmrtGuard which will let you block phone numbers from calling you.

I started getting these calls this morning from (310)-429-5382. They have been coming every 64 minutes like clock work. I called Verizon and they were very helpful. I am not even a Verizon customer and they still tried to help. They got with there clone department and they said that although that number is their's, the calls are not even really coming from that number. Somebody (probably overseas) is using some third party program to make that number show up on our caller IDs. They called it spoofing or something like that. Although everybody wants to be upset with Verizon, don't. It's more then my company would do. I have an iPhonem so that should tell you what company I have.

Hey, this number has been making these calls for two years and verizon will do nothing. It is clearly a machine of some kind, what's interesting is that people occaisionally get a random voice mail for actual people, instead of the "out of service message" I have always gotten. Somehow people thought it was me making these calls (I've never had a cell phone in my life) and I still get anonymous threatening messages where I used to work. I'd like to advise everyone that this is totally verizon's fault, and not to hate on people. No person could call this many people this often for this long for fun. Good luck getting verizon to do anything about it; my reccommendation is for people to cancel their verizon services.

they have a called 4 times in the past day. As late as 11 PM and now starting again this AM at 9 AM. My phone carrier does not provide call block and I am not sure my phone (home / landline) is smart enough to have this not ring when this number is called This should really be stopped.

Create a contact in your phone like "Don't Answer". Set the ring tone to "off" or "none". When you get a call like this... save the number to the "Don't Answer". The next time they call... you'll never know it. Do the same for other numbers like this. When the "Don't Answer" gets full of numbers... just add another contact like "Don't Answer 2", etc. :-)

I have had 2 calls from this party, one when I happened to be present to answer. A male voice (probably recorded) said: "this is a survey, do you own a small dog?" and proceeded to hang up without waiting for an answer...? I have a hard time some people have so little to do that they spend their time producing recorded annoyance calls. Unless there is another reason this kind of call just fills up your answering machine

Super annoying, calls in the night and early morning... going to try the pressing buttons theory. Seems so silly that nobody can do anything about this, you can only press buttons to "fool" the caller...

There were 7 or 8 calls yesterday from this number, the last being at 11:30 PM. I got a call this morning and called it back and got the Verizon message. I called Verizon Wireless and was told this number is now linked to a data card for the past year. I told the rep that these calls have been going on for a long time for others, per other websites, but he had no idea. I know this doesn't help too much, just my two cents.

4:54pm, 6:00pm, 7:11pm, 8:22pm, 9:29pm, 10:36pm, 11:39pm for a grand total of 7 calls. All to a business number. Must have been real important to call so many times. They didn't leave any messages. Googled the number and stumbled across this site with the rest of you happy people.

Kevin's advice is partially correct (and only works if you have a Verizon phone, so ignore this if you don't, and have a nice day). Log into verizonwireless.com and click My Services at the top of the page. From the My Services menu, click Spam Controls. That takes you to the page where you can enter numbers that you want to block. No guarantee that this works, but I am about to try it for myself. Good luck to you all! :)

ATTENTIN: It has been over 12 hours since I picked up and pushed #2 over and over and the calls have stopped since that time. I had received 10 calls prior to that on an hourly basis over two days. It works! Just pick up quickly when it rings push 2 at least 7 times and then hang up. I am told that the call will think it is a fax machine or an internet connection and it messes with the software and they don't call back. So far, so good here. If anything changes I will let you know!

ATTENTION: I have been getting the calls for two days. I read to push the number 2 at least 7 times after it rings and it will mess up the software and the calls will stop. I have been getting calls hourly and tried it three hours ago-picked up and hit #2 over and over then hung up and so far the calls have stopped. It is worth a try all!

For Verizon Customers go online at verizonwireless.com. Log in and go to "safeguards"...you can block 5 numbers per line for free. I added this to mine, time will tell if it works.

It kept erroring out when I'd hit submit, but the number does show up on the blocked list, so I think it took despite the error message.

Calls started last week and have progressively gotten worse. Yesterday they started calling me every hour, on the hour. So far today, I've gotten 3 calls on the hour as well. Incredibly frustrating and feeling a bit violated.

They called here at 11:00P.M., and again at midnight! They just hang up or disconnect when we answer the phone. Hope our President and Congress pass the truth in Caller I.D. Act of 2010 that Jim referred to. This type of thing has gone on for years. We are on the Do Not Call List, which seems to be largely ignored today. We are overtly solicited on the phone several times a week.

there is an APP you can use to call people from and it will change the caller ID of who is calling you to whatever number you want. that may be what is being used to make these calls. -good luck

I have received several calls from this number & there is never a response when I answer the phone. The calls are at odd times, late at night or early in the morning. Not sure how they got my phoone # or who the person is, but I hope it stops soon.
PS - if they call your wireless, you should be able to add them to your reject list and the phone won't ring they will just get your voicemail.

I got this call and nobody speak... so i tried to call back but messege came up from verizon wireless...

Verizon gave me the number of the nuisance call center, they said their is not anything we can do, did not even care what number was on the caller ID. So I tried what someone on line said to do and I have not received a call since. When the phone rings pick up and press the number 2 seven times in a row, it doesn't matter if they hang up before you finish pressing, then hang up the phone. Sounded kinda crazy but it worked for me, I have not gotten any more calls since.

This an overseas scam, it is on a autodialer. Answer the call and just keep pressing numbers, this will cause it to drop your number thinking it reached a fax machine or computer modem

I thought it was family member since I have family in California so I let it go to voicemail and when they didn't leave a voicemail I dialed the number back and got a message from Verizon saying that the phone has been disconnected or is no longer in service. When I called the number back there was a recording from Verizon that the number was changed, disconnected or no longer in service. I just got the call a minute ago.

Just yesterday at 6:53 pm, 8:09 pm, 9:22 pm, and 10:33 pm (all Central Time)this number has shown up on my caller ID. I'm like most people, I don't answer the phone if I don't recognize the number. Got no message on my voicemail. If they aren't going to leave a message, there's no point in me calling them back. I read several of other peoples comments and complaints about this number calling you at all hour of the night. I feel ya. Whoever is doing this, I'm sure, will be caught eventually. It's sad the Verizon can't or won't do anything about it. It's only going to hurt their rep when something bad happens and the fall into the hole they dug by not helping innocent people getting harassed by these people at the most inappropriate times of the day. Just for fun, if you are working or living in an environment that you could do this in, answer the phone whenever a suspected telemarketer is on the line. I did not answer it, but when I tried calling back to see who it was, I heard a Verizon recorded message say, "This number has been disconnected or is no longer in service." Weird. A third party is engaging in Caller ID Spoofing, which means they are taking advantage of a telephone network vulnerability to display a number (310-429-5382) on the recipient's caller ID display which is not the actual originating number.

Congress recently passed the "Truth in Caller ID Act of 2010" which is expected to be signed into law by the President later this year. The bill makes it illegal "to cause any caller ID service to transmit misleading or inaccurate caller ID information, with the intent to defraud and deceive."

Addressing this issue will require a significant investment from all telco's. As such, companies have been naturally reluctant to proceed until it becomes law and the FCC's enforcement rules are finalized.

This number keeps calling ten to eleven times a day until after midnight. No one answers it and when I call it back a recording says the number is no longer in service (from Verizon wireless). How can a number that is disconnected or no longer in service keep calling and harrassing me. This needs to be address by the FTC... My phone is for family and emergencies... whom ever is doing this is sick and needs to be institutionalized and we should have a way to track them. I recieved several calls from this number yesterday and they kept hanging up when I answered. When I called it back it went to the Verizon disconnected message. My conclusion on how you can get a call from a disconnected number is, that number is active but they have all inbound calls forwarded to a number that has been disconnected. I just wont answer anymore and if I need to I will block the number on my cell phone so it wont even ring if they call me back. I think I will report this to FCC as well, maybe if they get enough calls, they will actually do something about it.

Just received the first call from this number on cell phone. I had a similar problem with a different number (same area code)several years ago.
My cell phones allow me to assign different rings to individual numbers. I created an new contact name UNWANTED with the number 310-429-5382 and assigned the ringer silent to it. It may not stop them from calling but I no longer hear it or answer it.

I have had this happen with leeches, I mean bill collectors, before. They always call once, early in the morning, wait a few days, and then start calling over and over.

I spent a lot of time in the hospital recovering from a leg amputation. I had a lot of credit card debts that I could not pay as a result. The statute of limitation on the debts have long expired. They aren't even on my credit report.

I am on disability, getting a princely $674 a month. And these maggots are hounding me for debts that I can't pay, and by law don't have to pay.

Something needs to be changed. I think that a simple change to the law would be suficien: when debts expire on your credit report, they should no longer be collectible, period.

I got a new phone number and started getting numerous calls from a collection agency identifying themselves as "Tide Warner." They were trying to collect on debt that they said was attached to my phone number in their files. I told them that I had just gotten this phone number. The debt belonged to someone I had never heard from. After a week of their daily calls, I becamse frustrated with them and reported them to the Do Not Call Registry and FCC. I advised them of this when they called the following day and the "Tide Warner" agent said, "You will definitely regret doing that." The next day I started getting dozens of calls from 310-429-5382. Coincidently (?) the calls from Tide Warner's regular number stopped!!!! And I have not received any further calls from Tide Warner. The government needs to stop Tide Warner from doing this!

I have a thought about WHO this might be - had any of you been in Las Vegas prior to receiving these calls? My first thought was the convention I'd attended, but then realized I'd been to several casinos as well. I got a call from this number last night at 10:21 PM central time. It showed as Cellular Call and when I picked up, there was a second of silence, followed by a click. I don't know what the point of calling is if they're not even going to say anything. Has anyone actually talked to these people? And I'm pretty sure it's illegal for companies to call past 9pm. I am on the DNC registry, but it seems like lately I've been getting an awful lot of telemarketer calls. Most of them are recorded messages, so I can't even tell them off. Until Caller ID spoofing is made illegal, I doubt the DNC registry is going to be much help since they can't track the numbers actually making the calls like this.

Someone called from this number on 8/5/09 at 10:48PM ET in Maryland. Just when I said "hello" they hung up. I didn't bother calling them back, I just made note of the number so that I could look it up.

Caller phoned me on 8/3/2009 at 10:20a in Indiana - of course I didn't recognize the number and I didn't answer-they hung up just as it would've went to voice mail.

In summary:

No one knows who or what these folks are up to although it is likely they have something to do with Debt Collectors or telemarketing. The FCC and phone companies have been of no help. Do not call the number back. Probably the only way to stop them is get call blocking and block the number or change your phone number. I just added blocking and am enjoying my first day of quiet.

Mike is right that this is a forged ID and number, till we have rules that make it illegal to forge or fake caller ID this will be used by scammers and ripoffs to avoid angry people knowing who they are. These guys need to be located and nuked from orbit.
CALL your providers and ask them to block calls with FAKED Caller ID! (they of course CAN be but they will tell you that they can't) If we keep bugging them they will eventually do it.

VERIZON is calling this number to see what the message says, and verified.
VERIZON is putting this number on a Temp block for me for FREE, but only for 90 days.
Verizon also said it could take 24 hours for this block to begin.
I was also told I could go to the Do Not Call web site and add the number.
It's the one from the Gov. donotcall.gov
The one we are to use to block those pesty telemarketers.

This number and caller ID are FORGED, FAKE, It is NOT the actual number they are calling from so don't bother trying to call it back, the caller is probably overseas.

It will take someone high up in the telecommunications regulatory authority to trace who this actually is and do something about it.

In the mean time our phone providers should take a lesson from e-mail anti-spam technologies and start blocking the foreign providers that are allowing this. I guarantee as soon as these assholes realize that none of their customers can call the USA anymore they'll "FIX" the problem real FAST!

I received 4 calls from this number today. Whenever I pickup the phone all I get is a dial tone. It is getting rather tiresome.

This number has been calling for a whole week almost every hour to two hours although not during the night.

Ok I don't know what is up with this but the number called me at 6 AM ET (I am on the DNC registry and rarely get calls I don't know who they are). I called the number back (within minutes) on a different phone and got a Verison Message saying "the verison number you have called has been changed, disconnected or is no longer in service"???? Sounds to me like Verison has an issue with an auto dialer to me??

Got 2 calls today about 45 mins.apart. Didn't pick up. They left no message. Came here and read all your complaints. Sounds to me like someone is using an automatic dialer. I'm almost inclined to believe Verizon, that it's not one of their numbers. Anyone can put whatever message they want on their answering machine. But if they're not pitching anything why call all around the U.S.A? I can think of 3 groups: someone (hackers) trying to cull live numbers to sell to telemarketers. terrorists trying to drive us bonkers and/or paranoid; big brother trying to peg our schedule; And you can call me crazy if you want, but no live person is that bored that they're going to be punching in numbers all day long calling all over the U.S., so it has to be a machine. And no one is going to program a machine and be so successful at hiding behind a number unless they're very savvy and there is a good reason (in their heads) for them to do it.

I also got two calls from this number so far, one at around midnight :(, however I seem to remember getting similar calls in the past, though I couldn't find the same number in my caller ID history (which goes back a few months), so I'm wondering if they are using several numbers for this.

I contacted the Verizon number 800-922-0204. Got nowhere, of course, but she did suggest that we go on the Verizon web page and use the Contact Us link and submit it to Resolutions. That a group of those complaints all in one place might get them investigating it. The following is the email I sent using Verizon Wireless website verizonwireless.com (I used "Other" as I didn't see Resolutions.

There are several (154) complaints, including mine, on the whocalledus.com website about the Verizon Wireless number 310-429-5382. They call at all hours of the day and night and when you answer they hang up. When you dial that number back you get a message from Verizon Wireless saying the number is changed, disconnected or no longer in service.
Many of the complainants say they have contacted Verizon with no help whatsoever. The same for me.
Since it is a valid Verizon Wireless number and a Verizon recording when you call it back then the question arises - Why is Verizon Wireless not helping with these complaints? And why, since the calls are being made from this Verizon number, does the Verizon recording say it is not a good number?
Verizon has told those of us who have called that there is nothing they can do. But your own "Our Rights to Limit or End Service or This Agreement - (f ) "spams," or engages in other abusive messaging or calling" seems to make that argument void.
Which makes it seem that these annoying phone calls are allowed to continue with the complicity of Verizon Wireless.
I am also lodging a complaint with the FCC and encouraging the others on the whocalledus.com and other websites to do the same.

The only real problem I see with that link is it requires your cell number. I don't know if it will take other providers numbers or how you would complain if you don't have a cell number but I'm sure there is a way. The FCC web site for complaints is esupport.fcc.gov

The number is allocated to Verizon in Santa Monica, CA - but I doubt that is the source of the calls. Given the pattern of 'disconnected' messages that come and go, and the way most blocking services do not work, I am guessing that the CID information is fake. Verizon probably assigns the number every once in a while to some unwitting person who then gets called by a bunch of people demanding to know why they are being called at all hours. Then they probably ask Verizon for a new number.

The question is, what is the purpose of calling and hanging up on hundreds of people at all hours of the day?

They called me twice this week. I suggested that you should not call back that number. If you do, they knows your numbers with name. Possibly, it is purposed for telemarkets. Based the comments below it seem everyboby had the problems.

I've been getting this too. I have a G1 Android and I just made this number a contact and then theres an option to send calls directly to voicemail so I just did that.

I received a call last night at 9:50 pm (Eastern Time) on my cell phone. My cell phone service is provided by T-Mobile and my home service is with Verizon. One suggestion that I have for everyone is do not call back. All that does is verify that the person has called a valid number, much like responding to spam email.

this number started calling last night at 10:45 our time in Florida. It has since called every hour this morning starting at 8:15.

2x already this morning and it's only 9 a.m. - CST! That means it's 7 in Cali and they called me at 7 my time, 5 their time! wtf is this??? I called Verizon (California brach) this morning. The rep was nice and listened to our problem. He is investigating it as we speak. The last call I had was at 9:10 a.m. this morning (Eastern Time) from the annoying 310 number. I spoke to the rep around 10:30 a.m. Since I spoke to the rep, I haven't received that annoying call yet. I hope we all get some relief. :)

Sure glad I bought a phone with an internal call blocking. Some of these numbers don't get blocked with the *60 system. So far my new Panasonic cordless phones have done the trick. And to think I had these phones for months before I knew this feature was on them! :)

I get a call from this number 6x/day every few hours, from 7am to 10pm. The caller hangs up when I answer and a call back says the Verizon customer is disconnected. Something weird is going on and I can't figure it out.

I go this call from this number 310-429-5382, when I googled it, it was a California number, then I saw all these complaints aqbout the same number. I have not tried the "pick up phone immediately dial 2 seven times and hang up" step. But I will next time. I think that should block that number permanently. I think it will also work with the other annoying calls.

Received a call from this number last night at 11:00pm and again this morning at 10:55am. I go to bed early because I've got to get up at 5:30am to got to work, I leave my cell phone on 24/7 in case of emergency. I guess I will call and complain to Verizon wireless, probably won't help.

This call comes quite frequently! I don't answer often, but do every once in awhile just out of curiosity. Always the same response......NOTHING! They called at 8:55pm. They just called again at 10:30pm! How rude!

I hate getting these calls, too. So much that I finally bought "Person-to-Person", I do not work there or anything, but since I bought the set-up a couple of years ago, it blocks any and all calls I wish to have blocked, you just have to have caller id. I recommend it to anyone with problem phone calls. I am on the "no call" list but it doesn't seem to stop the telemarketers, etc. Wish it would!

When I hung up and checked the caller id, it was this same number that had called twice earlier in the day. I am not sold on the idea of pushing the #2 seven times, ( as suggested earlier) that sounds strange to me. I have heard of lots of scams that when you push certain phone buttons it gives them access to your private info they are trying to hack into. If anyone finds out who these people are...Please post.

The calls have stopped !!

I was getting the same annoying calls to my home phone as everybody else is reporting . I am in the Los Angeles, California area and have Verizon residential phone service. I called them several days ago to find out what I could do to stop the calls andthe service representative gave me these instructions. She told me that the next time I get a call from that number I should immediately pick up the phone and then hit the number 2 seven times then hang up. It took a few tries to get it right but I finally picked up the phone quick enough (before the caller disconnected) hit the number 2 seven times then hung up. I haven't received another call from that number since. As far as I know, there will be no charge for blocking the calls this way. I hope a lot of other people can use this to stop these harassing calls.

POSSIBLE SOLUTION FOR VERIZON RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMERS

I am in the Los Angeles California area and have Verizon residential phone service. I just started receiving these calls a few days ago, same scenario as everybody else is reporting on many web sites. I called Verizon this morning about the problem and the representative told me that I could easily stop the calls from getting through to my phone. She said that the next time I get a call from 310-429-5382 I should pick up the phone, hit the number 2 seven times and hang up. She said it doesn't matter if the harassing caller hangs up immediately or not, all future calls from this number to my phone should be blocked. I am posting this because I hadn't seen this particular solution to the problem posted anywhere else. The representative made no mention of any additional charges. I will post back in a few days to confirm weather or not this worked.

They called my home phone at 11:48pm(CST)on Thursday, December 4, 2008 and I am in Houston. When I answered the phone they said nothing and hung up. This is very disrespectful. When you call the number back it states that this is a Verizon number and is no longer in service and please check the number and try your call again. This is just horrible that these people are calling houses this time of night waking individuals up when they have to work and get their kids ready for school the next morning. I looked the number up and it states that the call is from Los Angeles and Santa Monica California and the Cell Phone Carrier is CELLCO Partnership Dba Verizon Wire.

This Verizon wireless number 310-429-5382 had a payment of $160 bucks posted on November 5, 2008 and the payments go back to July 08 BUT yet it's "not in service", BULLSHIT!!!! This number has an active debt account and VERIZON KNOWS WHO HAS IT!!!!! Call VERIZON 1-800-922-0204, input the number into automated system and you'll be surprised!!!

Calls started OCT 9th and continue 11-19-2008, with no one there when I answer. Never leaves message. Calls start at 7:38 am and latest was 9pm (tonight).Filing complaint with DNC.

Just talked to Verizon Wireless manager Casey and he took the complaint and is handing it over for resolution.
The number to reach Verizon is 1-800-922-0204....you can also contact your own carrier to have the number blocked.

Recieved a call from this number at 11:59pm on Monday, October 20 and 12:44 am on Wensday morning October 22.
I answered both times and they hung up. The first call I answered and they sounded like they hung up and then I heard clicking sounds in phone as if recording maybe.

Receive calls late at night from this unknown caller. It said number was a Verizon numer and it had been disconnected, changed, or is no longer in service when I called the number back 1 minute after the call came in. This may be forwarded to a disconnected number or the message is just a recording on a voicemail. After calling Verizon CS and learning this number is not registered with Verizon I called my local police department who wasn't able to offer much help. I then called my carrier (AT&T) and they said they would CHARGE ME TO BLOCK THE NUMBER. Mad that I can't make the caller stop I logged on to the FCC website and FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE FCC at fcc.gov. I hope this'll HELP ALL OF US. If your phone company is charging you to block this harassing number then I would also say file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission on your phone company as I have done with AT&T. If a phone company is going to charge us to block harassing phone calls it would be in the best intrest of the phone company not to help us block the calls so we have to pay for the blocking service. The FCC should allow us to block numbers for free when they've been reported. I want it to stop and I shouldn't have to pay to keep from getting harassed!!!

Yesterday 7-28-08, I received 6 phone calls from this number. I don't answer calls if I don't know who is calling, and they never leave a message. When I tried calling that number back, Verizon states that the number has been dis-connected or no longer in service. So far today, I have received 2 calls from this number, and when I did finally answer the phone, no one is there. The first call today was at 7:15 am, and woke me up. I am not a happy camper right now because of it. I hope someone finds out who is calling, and puts an end to it right now.

I have to agree with everyone else. the number is not recognized --- therefore I do not answer the call ---- caller doesn't leave a message ---- when calling back you get the voice mail message for "310-429-5382" and cannot find out who it is that keeps bothering you.
