Called 9:12 AM 11/21/2007 - No Message on Answering Machine
Caller ID gave Phone Number: 1-305-412-2026
Did NOT Answer Call !
Didn't answer & they didn't leave a message.
number came up on caller id 2x today...i tried to call number back and recvd message that the phone number was no longer in service..called operator to check out the number and the number didnt even come up in their system...
A message was left by an automated message service which thought I answered, rather than my answering machine. They wanted me to press 2 if I wanted a better finance rate on a credit card (mention of the bank or card was possibly given before the machine began recording.) I am not sure whether they are legitimate or not?
contact the do not cal registry and file a complaint.
I asked who they were... said Consumer Services in Jackson, FL. Claims they work with Visa, MasterCard, etc. to lower rates. This is a scam. I WORK for Visa and we don't use this company.
my caller id shows miami, fl.
may a hurricane blow their phones off the hooks.
Miami Fl comes up on caller id...called business phone (after hours) no message
Got the "credit card account was up to date, ...but I was paying too much interest. - press one for this limited time opportunity to lower my monthly interest rate" and pressed one (so I could chew someone out). When "Misty" answered and asked if I was calling to lower my interest rate I said "no . . . I'm calling to inform you that I'm on the do not call registry" and that ***** hung up on me! I immediately called back and got the disconnected notice. Of course the Do Not Call website is currently down and I can't file a complaint. Call came through as Miami FL.
No message left on answering machine
SCAM FOR SURE
I have had a call or two similar to this one today and did answer to a recording telling me to wait for the next operator...I no longer answer my phone unless a name I recognize appears...These call are annoying enough when the phone is in reach but when you are disabled and your speed is slow to get anywhere well, I tend to turn the air blue with very un-lady like language.....
Sorry the letter didn't print in my above post for some reason:

I reported this to Capital One. Here is the reply I got:
Obviously, these people are some sort of scam. They are identifying themselves as Capital One and are not. I am assuming that Capital One will be taking care of these rip off artists.

Call saying important message about credit card, didn't mention which one, so I pressed 1 to speak..Fast talking woman who in short wanted my credit card # of the one with the most money available and the exp. date to lower my interest rates to 4%. Yeah right! When I said not interested in giving that info she suggested I was stupid as the Crdit protection act would protect me from fraudulent charges, then laughed and asked if I would rather go on paying very high interest rates and I said YES and she hung up. VERY RUDE! SCAM!
There was no response on the other end at all. Called number back within 1 minute and was told the number is was no longer in service.
They called and didn't leave a message. I tried to call back but an automated message told me that "the number i am trying to reach is no longer in service." If this is a telemarketer or Capital One, I am sad that our government can't assure our privacy and that we are forced to be subjected to pandering from coprorations that already make gazillions of dollars off people, and are still trying to get more. Greedy pigs.
Call started with a recording saying my "credit card account was up to date, ...but I was paying too much interest. - press one for this limited time opportunity to lower my monthly interest rate" The operator asked for my name which I did not provide. Instead, I asked HER what credit card company this was. She identified as "Capital One" - a card that I have paid off and not had an account with for years now.
What a load! This is a sales pitch or maybe even a phishing expidition. Do not give anyone who calls from this number ANY of your personal information. They don't even identify themselves as Capital One on caller ID. I am on the "do not call" list so it makes no sense that a large CC company like Capital One would defy this and risk the fines...
Brooklyn NY comes up on caller ID but it's a FL number?
