This is a "survey request" for the ATT Yellow pages delivery.

No message... I guess it's about phone book delivery like others have stated. But seriously, who uses a phone book anymore?!? And why do I end up getting 5 different ones delivered in the same year. WTF?

This telemarketing group called and wanted to know if I had received a telephone directory. I told
them that I had not and hung up. They continue to call, requesting that I return their call. I am
recording the date and time of each of the calls. If they continue, becoming a form of harassment,a list of the calls, including the date and time of each, will be reported to the Chief of Police in Denver, Colorado. Another choice is to send the data to the Attorney General for the state of Colorado.

Google search of this number indicates that our telephone numbers comprise a database submitted by Product Solutions. Since one call is a legitimate effort to seek information regarding the delivery of a telephone directory, there is probably nothing we can do; but, as I said, if they continue, becoming a form of harassment, there is something we can do to stop it. The police are very helpful
regarding this.

caller called my residential phone, i did not recognize the name or number so i did not answer.

We had yellow pages delivered yesterday and I assume that's why they were calling based on the other comments I've read about this number. I didn't answer.

I sent them a pc-fax consisting of 50 pages (word doc) that was in 72 pitch font stating: DO NOT CALL (and my #) over & over again.

After reading the numerous comments about the possibilities, I have decided not to answer the phone. While they say they are trying to verify that the books were delivered, I think it's pretty much BS. If they really wanted to know if books were delivered, they should have supervisors do spot checks - it's got to be cheaper than the money they are spending calling people who are never going to pick up their calls. The phone books were unceremoniously dumped in the foyer of our apartment building, where most of them will probably sit until someone from the apartment complex gets sick of them and throws them out. I usually have things in my hands when I go up the stairs to my apartment and those books are heavy. Since I usually use the Internet to look up numbers I have no need for these books, but there are people who don't have computers or cell phones who do rely on them.

I'm more apt to believe this company is taking advantage of the loop hole that says if you make contact with them, they now have the right to pester you through their many associations with whatever company contracts them to do work for them in the future. It also gives them the right to sell any information about you to other companies, such as when you pick up the phone, etc.

Be safe. Just say no and block the calls as best you can.

HERE'S WHAT TO DO:

Look up this company's corporate telephone number. It is not the same as the call out number 303-280-8689. Once you have their corporate number, CALL IT. Ask many questions. Call them again to be sure they understand your displeasure. CALL IT 3 more times just to be sure. If each of us does that, their corporate line may become blocked with our calls...that would really be a shame....Be sure to check their website for their most up to date phone number, as they might try to change it to avoid our complaint calls. They need to hear from us, again and again and again and again and again...

This company phoned shortly after the new Yellow Pages were delivered to my house. They pretty much followed the same routine as I described in my comment from last year (August 15, 2008).

As mentioned, they are the U.S.-based subsidiary of the firm that delivers the phone books in my city (Vancouver, B.C., Canada). That explains why the call display shows "Colorado" and the 303 area code.

They called and hung up after I said hello.

If I pick up the call, can I ask them to have their delivery people just put the new directories directly into my recycle bin so I don't have to pick it up, carry it around back, and dump it myself? Does anyone actually use printed telephone directories?

To be fair, these people hire 'basic' people to deliver their phone books. These calls are only an attempt to confirm that these 'basic' people are indeed delivering the phone books (as they are paid to do), and not just dumping them in the trash somewhere.

Seems like a pretty reasonable call to me, and it would only take you a second or two to help them out.

Sorry DNC doesn't work!!! If they want to know if we got our phone book why don't they just send the people that dropped them off go back around and see how many are still laying next to the mailbox or on the front steps in the neighbor hood and quit pestering people. In my eyes we get WAY to many phone books

A call to the number revealed that it is some survey company doing a survey about a phone directory that was left in our driveway.

Call 1-831-333-1100 and have your number taken off the list. Got this from Verizon, who looked it up from their sources. I just did and it worked.

"Not selling a product or service?" Well, actually, they are. The product is the yellow pages, the service is the delivery of the phone books. To stop the calls, we must effectively communicate our displeasure to the right people. Those people are the decision makers at the companies who advertise in their yellow pages.

All of their revenue is generated by advertising sold in the yellow pages, and unlike PDC, these businesses care very much what you think. The most expensive ads in the yellow pages are the ones on the covers, so why not call these companies and let them know in no uncertain terms that you wouldn't use their services if they were the only company providing it. Ask to speak directly to the president (don't worry if you get his/her personal secretary, sometimes they are more effective than the president him/herself).

If enough people called only the ads on the covers (to say nothing of working your way through the full pages in the book), the advertisers would be reluctant to pay the exorbitant ad rates they pay, and the phone book might eventually disappear, along with the delivery service and the annoying phone calls.

A responsible company (especially one who monitors this site, reads the comments, and even posts) would realize that consumer backlash would be reason enough to cease these annoying calls, but they won't care until it starts reducing their bottom line.

We're posting this to our neighborhood group chat group and urging all our neighbors to do the same (and trying to find another copy of the yellow pages laying on the street, since we always throw ours directly into the recycling as soon as it comes).

It may be a small step, but it will certainly be more effective (and more satisfying) than dealing with PDC.

Phone book delivered few days ago. Call received today. Didn't know number. Didn't answer. No message left. No big deal. Just knowing I have the option to ignor these calls is good for me. If the calls start coming in during the middle of the night, then there's a problem.

Let ring as I do not know who this was on caller ID. Just showed Product Dev and number 303-280-8689. They never left a message. I reported the number to the national do not call list as this number has called before. I am on the do not call list in my state and national.

Call came in yesterday (12/2/08) at 4:52 p.m. IF this is about those stupid phone books, it's been a month since they were delivered here. Why call after all this time?? I didn't pick up the phone books & I'm not picking up the phone when they call. And I'm supposed to be on the DNC list. What a joke. :-p

Say you're not answering the phone cuz many creditors are calling 30 times a day - each! This company may be part of a new tactic being used to simply find out what days and times you are most likely to pick up and answer your phone. They make note of the days and times, and hopefully establish patterns of the best times to call you when you'll likely answer. Then they sell this data to the creditor(s), and/or telemarketers, so that they can call you at a time you are most likely to answer your phone. That's why many don't talk to you (& the phone book excuse is B.S.). They're only interested in the days & times that you are most likely to pick up & answer your phone! Credit card companies use this data to try and program their computers to call you at the best times, so they can then get a live body on the line to try & make you pay your bill(s), and they're great at that, too!

I noticed that an earlier message posted said they asked if they received their phone books. We received our new phone books yesterday, and I got this call today. I did not answer, and they did not leave a message.

I wonder if any of the politicians who literally promised us the world will have the balls to stop this. When the government wants something made law no matter how hard it might be on the average citizen, that's the way it is, yet they will never do anything to stop this menace...not just from this number but from the uncountable ones we all get!

Honestly, I don't believe that this is a legit company regardless of the reason. Why? I SPECIFICALLY HAVE THIS NUMBER BLOCKED FROM CALLING ME! In other words, the number they are showing on Caller ID is spoofed--meaning it does NOT currently exist and is being forged. I even get calls that caller ID shows was sent from MY OWN NUMBER--which is another spoof. I'm reporting all of this in a police report. Even if the caller is not soliciting you for SALES purposes--they are STILL soliciting you---for data. Just by asking you a question they are soliciting you for an answer. Just like all the political campaign calls I was getting regarding Obama--they still call soliciting you (or "prompting" you) to do something, whether it's a verbal answer or action they are still soliciting you. And if the person they are calling is on the DNC list or has an unpublished number or has the caller's number specifically blocked then they should NOT be allowed to harass us! Whoever delivered the supposed phone book that they may be calling about can simply put a postcard on your door, with a code to somehow indicate your area without needing any personal information, asking you to confirm receipt. Wouldn't THAT be more legitimate and believable? Or why not have the delivery person of the phone book be responsible for checking off the addresses they have delivered to? That would save us ALL a lot of headache and save THEM a lot of money!

This number called again today. I answered, but there was nobody on the line. So, I followed-up on the information in PDC's comment (left on Aug. 4, 2008) and found that PDC is the sister company of the firm (teamcanwest.com) that delivers White/Yellow Pages in my area. Therefore, it's possible that this call is connected to the recent delivery of the Yellow Pages to my house. If so, then I suppose that I technically have a "business relationship" with these people. These calls still feel very "spammy" to me, though

Also, it seems odd that the Caller ID always shows "Colorado" and the agent asks if I got my Verizon phone book. As mentioned in my earlier comments, Verizon does not offer any services in Canada (except for some business services in partnership with MCI Canada). So, there's really no reason that I can think of for Verizon to call me.

Answered and no one there, but the line remained open for some time. Then there was a click, and the line opened again, but still no one there. Finally, a dial-tone and an automated message saying to hang up and try MY call again. pfft

They called a year ago to see if we had received their phone book (see my comment from Aug. 18, 2007). Once again, I have to ask why they would be phoning me about a phone book when I am not a Verizon customer. For that matter, I'm in Canada where Verizon doesn't even offer any services.

Frankly, this is a waste of both my time and theirs.

I called the number back and it is a recording that states that "you have reached product development Corporation, if you received a call from this number it is because we are currently delivering a telephone phone book in your area, and you were randomly selected for our delivery survey.

You can leave a voice message which I did leaving my phone number demanding that they remove my number from their calling list considering that I was on the Federal DNC list and that I was documenting that date and time that I left the message and that I received another call from them that I would pursue further action. I also in my voice message stated that I thought it was pretty amazing that they were calling me wanting to survey me about a phone book delivery considering that my number is unpublished, how in the world would they know what area they were even calling to even know when a phone book was delivered.

I am so SICK and tired of being bothered by these BS companies all the time. I find it unbelievable how many calls that come in during the day while I am at work... don't even think about taking a day off of work to just relax! YEAH right your phone rings off of the hook!

Recently had a YELLOW Book delivered to my residence. After reading the other comments, perhaps they are calling to in regards to that delivery.

After reading thru the messages left here and on other sites, I believe that this is a legit company, trying to verify phone book delivery. That being said, I think they need to come up with a better system because their calling and hanging up (They probably mass call multiple #'s per operator, and whichever # picks up first goes thru, the others get a "hang up") is really disturbing. I don't have caller ID, and I had to pay the Phone CO. for Call Return Service to find out the phone #, plus the cost for the long distance call to figure out who they were(which was a waste because it went straight to "mail box is full"...) I'm wasting my time and money to help them gather info? Instead, Product Dev. should leave a message (it can be automated) along with a toll-free telephone # that we can call back IF WE SO CHOOSE. We should be able to leave a response, like thru an automated survey, to make it easier on us, the customers. More people will respond than you think and no- one will be annoyed with these mysterious (and costly) hang-ups.

Wish these people would answer when I call them back. They call my home number 4 or 5 times a day and leave no messages. Caller I.D. also said product development. Signed up for the no call list and am starting to think maybe there the ones giving out my number. Seem to be getting more telemarketers and wastefull calls since I have signed up for it.

No answer when I picked up. This occured on the day Verizon left phone books. Call should be made by the company using their caller ID. I do NOT have business with "Verizon" or "Product Dev". Where are the fines for these companies? Who is running this country?

When I called them back to see why they had called me I got a voice message saying " The Mailbox for the Product Development Corporation is Full"

I called 303. 920. 8591. A live person refused to talk to me. I left a voice mail for the 4th time to stop calling and hanging up. The WONDERFUL STATE of TEXAS puc said because they are not trying to sell me anything so there is nothing they will do to stop them.

Ultimately, This is Verison who is at falt. When it comes to marketing I believe that Verison will use shady tactics and from the comments listed so far it seems that in some way this \"poduct dev\" company hired by Verison, uses phone call data to note when people might pick up the phone, or who might be willing to take a survey, or who will call you back -when no message is left- then, if you call them back, they have you calling them opening up an opportunity for them to bug you further.
By the way I got a call today (no message left) and a phone book was deliverd 2 days ago. The book promtly went into the garbage. I havent used a phone book in many years. Al gore invented the internet so we can stop killing trees. ;P

This is 2nd time - answered right away as I have family that worry if I don't answer immediately - no one there. Do not have caller id but I *69'd call to get tele number. I am on state and federal Do Not Call list; also disabled.

I didn't answer and they hung up. Then I called this morning and there is a recorded message that says who they are and that they are randomly calling regarding a telephone book. Maybe they got so many complaints that they decided to leave a message on there. Anyway, I didn't leave a message, since they were not kind enough to leave one on mine!

Verizon calling about our phone book. We're using Cox, haven't used Verizon since C&P Telephone went belly up, and have never had a Verizon phone book. This sounds like a candidate for the Do Not Call violations folks...

Got caller ID July 28th at 5:23pm name was "Product Dev" I did not pick up. There's a rumor going around that this is a new tactic being used. These companies call you now and make note of what time you pick up and answer and when you don't and then re-sell that data to telemarketers so they can call you at a time you are more likely to answer the phone. That's why they don't talk to you. They're only interested in whether or not you pick up the phone and at what time of day that you do.

ANSWERING MACHINE PICKED UP NO MESSAGE LEFT.

Same as others - I waited for the answering machine to kick-in. It did, but there was no recording. I still had to re-set my phone, as the little red dot would blink, indicating that the answering machine had taken a call.

10/24/07 at 5:45 PM - Answered main business number with name of firm only. No voice or other sound on the line. Repeated answer after approximately 5 seconds - waited for 10 seconds of silence - no sound of voice, fax or disconnect - I hung up.
Used "last call" service to ID incoming number, Googled the # and found this log of nuisance calls.

It's an automated system from DEX, the phone book people. They wanted to know if I'd received my new phone directories. Press 1 for yes or 2 for no. I pressed 2 and it said the delivery company would be notified.

I got a call 10/10/07 at 2:30PM. I didn't answer the phone. Caller ID said Product Dev. I called the number back and got a recorded message saying they were delivering phone books in my area and I was selected for a delivery survey.

Companies are trying to skirt the DNC list by using the "curiosity approach". Should YOU call this number back, the company can now qualify your call as an inquiry for their product or service, thereby giving them permission to spam you for the next five years. Handle it this way:

They called at 1:48 PM and when I answered it took a while but there was a recording that sounded like lions roaring in the background (like at a zoo or something) it was really wierd!!!

Answered, said "Hello". Nobody there. Thought I'd wait to see what happened -- the other party went on-hook/off-hook twice after about 45 seconds. Call ended after about 1 minute.

Called them back; said I was selected for a phone book. Told them I have no prior direct business with them and would not only file a complaint for do-not-call violations, but if they called again I'd file civil charges against them for the maximum allowed by Illinois.

Phone rang, I answered, the sound was like they were calling from a pig pen. Hung up the phone it rerang. Same sound. Had difficulty breaking the circuit. Finally did.
Verizon - my land line - service desk was NO help!

Tuesday August 21st, 2007 we also received the call. But we had sound in the background as if it were in the Big Cat section of a zoo. Sooo, I star 69'd the call and tried to find where it came from. I asked several times if someone was there but all I could hear was a large cat like a tiger or lion growling in the background. Very Strange indeed!

I echo the comment above from Sabine. I answered the call and there were strange sounds like barking and garbled voices slowed way down. I found it interested so I muted it and let it run. After about five minutes an IVR response came on and said "Ivalid Response. Press one for yes and nine for no". I pressed one and nothing seemed to happen. I wish I had recorded these strange sounds. Called at 2:30 PM today. I answered the phone and heard someone breathing and some kind of other garbled gurgling noise. I hung up my phone a few times then when I turned it back on it was still there- no dial tone. Finally I left the phone off for five minutes and tried it again and got a dial tone and *69ed the number.

The Do Not Call List does not apply to companies that you do business with. Verizon Directory delivery services use third parties to deliver phone books, usually some guy in a car throwing phone books on the ground so they need to verify you got the phone book. Telemarketers typically use a Predictive Dialer program that can sense and hang up on answering machines and also looks for a 'live" voice pattern like "hello..pause..hello" before activating.

Wasn't home, no message left, but when I tried to call the #, it said "area code or # are incorrect". Called phone company, they said companies will call you from a ghost # and caller I.D. so the call gets through your blocker, but then you can't call them. That's bogus!!

These are confirmation of phone book delivery. Do not call list won't help because if they have a prior relationship they are allowed to call. Everyone gets phone books delivered so you have a relationship.they should not hang up and that is the problem

I reached someone at the number and found out that they are a company that verifies if you have received a phone book that was most likely just left at your door. The woman was nice and said that if you pick up, you will be asked to verify receipt of your book and if it was in good condition etc. Made me feel better to know they weren't tele marketers.

The phone book companies that pay them to deliver require that they verify people have received their directories, so they call people on every street until they get a certain percentage verified.

Called today 11/15/06 @ 10:56am. I answered (we just got this phone number and i'm curious who would be calling us already) and there was just some clicking and then nothing. I hate it when stupid companies don't have the balls to talk to you or have a REAL person call you! This number 303/280-8689 just called me and left no message; when I returned the call from caller ID, got the message that "mailbox was full, unable to receive any messages at this time". When researching Prod Dev Corp in Google, it appears that the government offers business grants through some new prod dev corps to help develop new consumer products and the prod dev group receives a royalty % from sales. Do not believe that this is the case for this Prod Dev Corp call, though. Thank you for offering this reporting website.

Received call. Didn't have my glasses so I couldn't see the caller ID info clearly. Was expecting an important call so I answered. The caller asked to speak to Carol. "No Carol at this address", I replied. If they are trying to ascertain when I answer my phone, they found a good time to reach me but I'm now keeping a spare pair of reading glasses by the phone!

they like to call at 4am and times when i am at work, never leaves a message, when i call back i get a buisy noise

Called today at 11:10 am Central Time. I answered, no one was there. I am on the DNC list and reported them.

303-280-8689 called today. name on caller ID was Product Dev. I work from home so screen my calls. I am on Do Not Call list and have been since it started. It does not stop any of these calls.

Caller ID said product dev - no message left - I am on DNC list - a lot of good this is doing

Got caller ID July 28th at 5:23pm name was "Product Dev" I did not pick up. There's a rumor going around that this is a new tactic being used. These companies call you now and make note of what time you pick up and answer and when you don't and then re-sell that data to telemarketers so they can call you at a time you are more likely to answer the phone. That's why they don't talk to you. They're only interested in whether or not you pick up the phone and at what time of day that you do.

Message cut in and out. Could not determine what contents of message was. We are on do-not-call list.

Phone rang 3 times, no one there when I answered 1:09pm (central).

This number 303-280-8689 called twice today (8/3/06) @ 12:31pm and 12:39pm. Caller ID read COLORADO.

This number now calling my cell phone numbers (T-Mobile). No answer or now voicemail left.
