Who Called Us

I was getting these auto extended warranty calls two or three times a day to my cellphone for the past two months. They hardly ever came from the same number, but the recordings were always the same. Finally, I pressed the "1" button and got a rep on the phone. I tried to keep the rep on the line as long as I could, telling her I was very interested, asking her to repeat information, had to look up the year of my car, couldn't remember the exact make and model, asked lots of questions about the coverage, couldn't find my credit card, etc., etc. Just kept it going and going, finally giving her the impression I might not be playing with a full deck. Finally, after about 15 or 20 minutes, she asked me to confirm my cellphone number, which she read off to me. "That's it," I said. She then hung up on me. I have not gotten a single such call since I did this more than two weeks ago.

FOR JILL I AM AN EMBARQ REP FROM WHERE THIS NUMBER CAME FROM AND THAT NUMBER IS NOT A WORKING NUMBER IT WAS A WORKING NUMBER UNTIL SHE CHANGED IT AND THE NUMBER WAS STOLEN OUT OF THE EMBARQ DATA BASE SO YOU SHOULD DO SOME RESEARCH BEFORE YOU POST COMMENTS ON THE INTERNET THAT YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT.

Why can't the FCC stop these nuiance calls?

people on altel and at&t are not the only ones getting these frustrating calls, folks on verizon are experiencing them too!! I would be one of them.

Oh really??? I used to be a toll fraud investigator for Alltel. If this ISN'T your phone number then HOW were YOU able to cancel it????? Answer; You WEREN'T!

Actually, besides my first comment, I wanted to add this:

I'm really sorry to hear that someone's been messing with you and used you
"as a pawn" in their insipid little game. It will catch up with them, and
then they will find this page. We'll all be able to file a class action
lawsuit when it's all over. That's mainly because these scammers have not
been "put in their place" (yet) and that's what is needed here.

Well Mrs/Miss Harrell, it's YOUR number coming up on the caller ID ... I'd suggest
that YOU contact the FBI and submit some info before you get implicated in this scam!
If you are just going to sit back and "take it" you deserve to be punished as well.
I'm getting pretty sick of tracing these calls. I think reporting this to the
FCC would be a great idea - THEN you might go and do something after you get
PICKED UP (and arrested) for a country-wide phone scam, huh?
Since it's on a prepaid cell phone there's really NO company to call.
Oh, and it just started to happen on my Magic Jack number which is NOT
published, either, so what gives? This is the third call this week
that I have received. The company deserves to be SUED into the ground.

Why can't the federal government get their s@$t together, crack down on this crap and figure out how to protect their citizens. We are paying billions to companies with outstretched hands and this is what we get. Now the FCC is trying to ditch analog TV signals to sell to cell phone companies and for what so we can have more of this crap? I have had it. I want my money back! These people won't stop calling even after being on the national do not call list!

Received call on my business cell today. Didn't even bother answering. I knew that this was the same a@#holes that called the other week from 262-513-8290. This is clearly a scam. I don't know how they're getting away with this. These people have no conscience. They should be strung up!!!

this number caled my cell at 1:21 pm today, i didn't answer, they left no msg. it belongs to Euralee Harrell in New Bern, NC which seems to be a residence. i believe this is another in a string of fake car warranty calls i've gotten lately. i got another this evening at 8:16pm from 509-935-0671 (registered to Angie Tipton of Chewelah, WA) this new way of making scam calls, the tipton call i answered and it absolutely was a fake car warranty call, my vehicles have no warranties. this is abusive cold calling and must be stopped. i get calls from different numbers every day with the same automated BS. how odd that i got that call at the same exact time as JESS on this board. this seems to be a front bogus number for whatever company this is. i'm really sick and tired of these calls. i registered it on the do-not-call registry, hopefully that will help.

filed a complaint at fcc.gov They regulate these things, especially if they are calling you on a cellular phone.

Called Cell @ 10:23 am EST 4/28, I didn't answer, they didn't leave a message. Assuming this is also the same scam that called me from 402-753-9939 yesterday. It's always a call from a random number from 10-11am. I have a real job unlike these people, so haven't been able to answer the phone to share some "colorful adjectives" with these people.

This came in on a cell phone. Are they calling at random? Since they said a warranty was expiring, and I knew it was a scam, I asked which vehicle they were referring to. They lied and said that the manufacturer just gave them a list of expiring warranties. They hung up on me after I asked what the name of their company was.

They're calling us too. Auto warranty expiring, last call, yet it never ends. Calling on cell phones of me and wife. We told them to stop calling. They called the next day. Asked them to let us speak to their supervisor, and they hung up the phone. Who are these people? Wife told them we didn't even have a warranty on our car, it's very old, and haven't had one since we bought it used. The woman calling said that's why she was calling, to sell us a warranty!?!?!?! I called the # back, and it was a recording saying it was no longer in service.

Got a few calls from this # but I'm guessing my ringback tone made them hang up on the first ring, tried to call back only to get a fast busy signal. Tried calling later and now it's says the # is no longer in service

Missed call didn't leave message, now car warranty info on me as i have never owned a car. Not sure what they wanted.

i've gotten these calls numerous times on both my cell phones, at&t and alltell.
i've gotten the same "business" from numbers in missouri, north carolina, pennsylvania, arkansas....
i haven't recieved a call on my at&t number since i told them i was pressing charges.
these people have no life.

This is just a scam. They didn't get your number from anyone, they just dial at random. That's why they get "unlisted" and other non-traditional phones to ring.

My whole family gets these calls. I have been getting them everyday but I don't answer so its not bothering me too much.

Have had a few of these "auto warranty" calls to my cell phone - usually while at work. Any way to get rid of this spam?

My experience is much the same as the others - auto warranty spam. We've gotten these calls quite a bit before, it's on an on-call business cell phone with Verizon.

I spoke with Josh, ID 2507053119. He said the company name was "Warranty Solutions". Immediately after I pressed him for his ID number and the company name, he quickly said he would put me on their do not call list. I'm not expecting it to work.

As of 4/28/09 this number won't stop calling our main business line. This number has been contacting us for about a year, although the name on the ID changes the number has not, along with the same annoying F@#$*@! msg. This is Manhattan - we do not have a car!!!!!

I will press charges once I find out additional info. And I have people down south also looking into this.

These guys keep calling my wifes Cell number.. there is a cost associated with that call each and everytime they call and we are on the Do not call list.. both Cells and our home phone are all listed there

What can I do to stop them from calling? any suggestons.. it's annoying as can be.

We bought a new Chevy Trailblazer in 07.. we are approaching the 33,000 mile mark on the car and the 36 month/36000 mile warrenty is about to expire.. however, when I bought the car, I bought the extended warrenty to 60k miles or 60 months...

SO I'm thinking either the Dealer sold our name, or the extended warrenty company did, or GM did or my insurance company did.. That could be 21st Century insurance or GEICO... I've had both in the last 2 years.

Any correlation there?

ARGH! Got another call from these spammers. Looked up the number and apparently it is registered to a Donald R and Euralee Harrell at 120 Palisades Way New Bern, NC 28560-8525. PEOPLE!!! I DO NOT know ANYONE who is from or currently resides in NC!!! >(

If it's for an auto warranty, can't we sue whichever stupid auto company sold this information out?!?!

Just called 4-28. To the poster who asked about the do not call list, I am on it - and it has no effect on these people. They have called me from 3 or 4 different numbers in the last few months.

Called on business phone, didn't answer. No voice message.

This number has called repeatedly. I figured (acurately apparently) that it was a telemarketing call and let it go to voicemail. They never leave a message. I guess I'll need to give them the 'blowing whistle in the earpiece' trick. If you can't do anything else make them pay with bleeding eardrums:)

Called my house-unlisted # no message left although I do keep getting a message like the the auto about to expire messages everyone else is getting, on my cell. I just called the # number back. It says this is an unmonitored cell ph. # with GE health care. If you are calling for Andy Patterson. Please call Janic Baker @ such and such #. How anoying! Is there a number to call and report these people? Better Business burea? Also got that name Euralle Harrell when I looked the # up on google. Today is April 28, 09

Called me last night around 7pm and then called again today at 9:45 AM. I've read elsewhere that the people who do the "warranty on your vehicle" scam block their number by going through others, don't know if that is true, but I get these types of calls a lot. Annoying.

It came up on my cell. When I answered it and I heard a prerecorded message... the warranty on your vehicle is about to expire..., so afterward I entered the number in the online white pages reverse look up and came up with two names from the same address Donald R Harrell and Euralee Harrell 120 Palisades Way

Has anyone been successful in getting this off your cell number? I'm also receiving these idiot calls on my home phone. Is there some way to block these calls like you do on email? Thanks for any help.

Yet another call from an auto warranty scammer. They didn't appreciate it when I tried to buy a warranty for my daughter's powerwheel.

This is a work number so I pressed "1" like the automated operator said to do so that I could speak to a live person to instruct them to remove the number from their list. I was not agitated, it's just that a "vehicle warranty that is about to expire" should not be associated with my work number. When the live operator came on the line and I expressed my wish to be removed from the calling list, she just hung up in my face. When I tried to call the number listed on the caller I.D., which is the 252-636-3841 number, I only get a fast busy signal.

Just called when i was in school. yesterday they called from a florida zip code left no message i called back and i hit the do not call again. still calling.

Car warranty scam. Illegal call made to my cell phone. I believe the automated recording was illegal as well. Caller ID probably fake. I wonder why anyone would be dumb enough to fall for such tactics.

Has anyone gotten this same spam auto warranty phone call repeatedly from many different numbers? I get a call from them about once a week. It's a new number calling each week. Presumably they get shut down within a day or so, but then just keep moving on. Someone needs to contact the police to set up a sting operation to follow the money chain and find out who is behind this. Shut down these auto warranty scammers once and for all.

BTW - is anyone here on the do not call list? I am not, but am adding my number now.
