returning call to this number gets this message: This is a non-working number. We need a crack-down on this kind of illegal action.

We are on the do not call list and this # calls us at least 1x a week.

Jeremy with ALS claims to have some kind of special pull with government tax collectors. Total scam. I reported them to the do not call registry.

Real tired of these calls

Call came in at about 4:45 p.m. and went straight to the answering machine. Caller left no message. Second time this week I've received a call from this number. I am on the state and fed DO NOT CALL lists, fwiw.

I've turned this number in 2 times within 30 days to Donotcall.gov. It is my understanding if you placed your number on the do not call list the Federal Government would police and protect citizens rights not to be disturbed. What are we paying taxes for?? The Goverment enforces violations of the Do Not Call list like the protect its citizens on the Arizona Border. Protection is non existant and a waste of my tax dollars paying someones salary.

I didn't answer the phone but called them back. The guy just kept asking me if I had any tax debt. I asked for the name of his company and all he could say was uh Tax Relief. I asked him if they had a website or address and he couldn't tell me that information. I asked how he got my number because I didn't owe any taxes and he hung up on me. It was a recording stating the name of the caller as Jeremy. It seems the intent was to scare me into pressing "2" to talk to someone at ALS Tax Service about my IRS account. Jeremy implied that I owed $10,000 or more to the IRS and was in jeopardy of losing my business if I did not press "2" for immediate "tax protection", whatever that is. When I didn't press anything, he merely said "Goodbye" and the call ended.

Got a call from 212-359-3122 at 5:15pm Wednesday, September 15, 2010. Caller ID said Gary, IN. It was a recorded message to sell debt-relief services. When I answered the phone I said "Good Afternoon," and the recording started.
These are the parts of the recording that I can remember: This is an important call about your tax situation / This is Kevin with ALS / Press 2 to take advantage of this offer, press 9 to opt out / Call 888-787-6364 to take advantage of this service / You can eliminate your federal or state tax liability

This is a national call center for "Bedwetter Annomymous". As part of their therapy they wear adult diapers; then, soil themselves after they hang up. The average caller in therapy, during their therapy session, can call nearly 50 people waiting to be a part of this great philanthropy. After loading-up their diapers several times during the day they can make it through the night without incident. Think of this as your generous contribution to mankind, and those suffering from this affliction will be forever greatful. Hanging up is your way of saying "Piss on You", and making a lasting impression. Some of the therapy callers are so pleased with the fast results they more on to other call center positions.

Suing Telemarketers - Simple and Cheap
When most people think about the process of suing a business entity, they naturally consider it a complicated and expensive process. They consider having to find an attorney who specializes in the particular area of law, the costs for such and weigh it against the potential gain. Forget all that when it comes to suing telemarketers!

For those individuals like me who have successfully prosecuted cases against telemarketing firms, there is little need for an attorney. (A cover-my-posterior caveat: I am not an attorney, so I cannot legally advise you. Whenever you are considering legal action, it is always advisable that you consult an attorney. Personally, I have never needed one when filing claims against telemarketers, but you may wish to consider doing so.) The key is that the best venue for filing suit against a telemarketer is in your local Small Claims Court. The only fees you must pay are the filing fees (varies upon venue and amount, but generally is somewhere around $50) and the fee to perform service of process (anywhere from $10 to $100 depending upon whether or not you have the court serve the telemarketer via certified mail or you have a law enforcement officer or other process server handle such). When the potential gain is thousands of dollars, what is a hundred bucks?

I have personally filed four claims in Small Claims Court against telemarketers. I have been paid on three of them (the fourth was against SBC and they gave me such a runaround on the process serving - BUT they stopped calling) that I let that one slide. Of the three cases where I was paid, the following were the results:

1. Filed a claim against a telemarketing firm based in Florida (Health Benefits Direct) for $1500. This amount was based upon two calls made after I told them to stop calling and their failure to provide me with a copy of their Do Not Call Policy. I settled out of court for $600.00 prior to the trial date.(Initial Cost to me: $55)
2. Filed a claim against a mortgage brokerage firm in southern California (due to settlement agreement, I cannot reveal their name) for $4500. This amount was based upon seven calls made after I told them to stop calling and their failure to provide me with a copy of their Do Not Call Policy and their failure to maintain a Do Not Call List. I settled out of court for $2000.00 prior to the trial date. (Initial Cost to me: $80)
3. Filed a claim against a mortgage brokerage firm in southern California (Country Club Mortgage) for $3500. This amount was based upon five calls made after I told them to stop calling and their failure to provide me with a copy of their Do Not Call Policy and their failure to maintain a Do Not Call List. I received a judgment for the full amount of $3500, plus $60 in court costs. (Initial Cost to me: $60)

I run a business and when I get calls from "Unknown Name/Numbers" or any part of this I respond once and give the caller 3 seconds to answer and then I hang up. If they call back, I let them go into voice mail and they'll never leave a message.
