I answered so they wouldn't wake my wife up. Hello. Hello. Hello. No one there. I HATE these people!

Ijust received a call from this totally obnoxious person. He went on and on how they are filed with IRS as registered charity. He was non stop in his speech. He was beligerent and wouldn't stop talking even when I tried to ask him questions. I decided to just start talking over him about last night's ball game, the weather, what's wrong with my car and the wild fires in California. This was actually fun but this guys was a total "A. H." Believe it or not....he actually hung up

I used to work for this company (TAI) back in the day. I hold a few grudges so im going to spill the beans for all you pansies on this website. They are a telemarketing company that has contracts with diffrent charites. Wishing well, veterans, fireman, and various police patrolman lodges. They call ON BEHALF of the charity to solicit funds from residential customers. Its perfectly legal and legitimate, however the actuall percentages are ridiculous. The charities get anywhere between 10-25 percent of the actual donation. I worked there for a long time and its a revolving door so all types of people work there. Felons, pedophiles, drug dealers and users, you name it. The pay was great and im sure i probabaly actually sold someone reading this now since I SOLD ALOT OF PEOPLE IN MY TIME THERE (at least 60 donations a day, 5 days a week). So stop complaining on this website. The only way to fight them is to start a lawsuit witht he attorney general about harassing calls. No other way to it. Chances are most of you reading this dont have the time and money to sue a company that has ALOT more money and resources to fight back. In the end, JUST BUT THE "PRIVACY MANAGER" box, which wont let blocked calls ring into your phone. MORONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This number and company(?) has called my home more times than I can count. I have told to stop the harassing; I have told them we're on the national do not call list; I have told them we going to report them to our state's attorney general's office - ALL TO NO AVAIL. What else can one do to stop this?

I said, "Hello. Hello, hello, hello! How many times does a person have to say hello, before somebody answers on the other end?" They hung up.

After reading comments called number, informed them they are violating DNC, to cease and desist calling this number, and I will be reporting them as violators. Also mentioned highly available negative web chatter about their number.

Don't care about the Do Not Call List, evidentally...judging from all the posts on this and other sites, this has been going on a long time with these people -- is there a government agency to whom we should report? Atty General perhaps?

This is not a registered charitable organization. This is a scam and have tracked two of them to Lincoln, IL a residential phone #. Also a cell phone out of Manhattan, N Y has been used. It does no good to request your # be deleted. Do NOT give them your address. They only give a P O Box......
They will not hang up no matter how abusive you get with them but a whistle in their ear works.......ABSOLUTELY DO NOT DONATE IT IS A SCAM ..........tracking them on the internet you can find a kit used for their scam.

Caller ID showed "POL PROTCT FUND" -- Guy named "Larry" asks for me by my first name. He didn't get past the first "How are you?" Told him to stop calling. It was a very short conversation. I seriously doubt he's really a charity of any kind, but that's what he claims. Right.

When I lived in Chicago, I was with CAPS. The officers that ran the meeting said that they never saw any money from these types of groups. The officers said to tell any solicitors that claim to help the police to send you information via the mail for you to go over. You'll never hear from them again.

Haven't called in a while, but called today. No message left. We don't answer calls we don't know. I don't think they are legit. (We have a few police friends that said not to donate to these "funds" - especially since we live in a different area code.)

It's eight o'clock on a Monday night. They just called my boyfriend. Asked for Mrs. Replied there isn't one. They hung up.

Tues. 6:30 p.m. I love Caller ID. If I don't know the number I don't pick up. They didn't leave a message. 217 is a central Illinois area code.

called today but no message left (of course) - won't answer numbers we don't know. shows up as pol protct fund.

I told them not to call my number but they keep calling.So with caller I.D. I just lift the handset and then hang it up. About a week later they will call again.

We are on the do not call list. they call and when you answer they hang up I called it back and they don't answer. Search this number online and it is very upsetting. Can't something be done.

I received another of their calls today (seems like a weekly thing with them). I told the guy who called that I was presently unemployed, he made a rude comment and hung up on me. I called the 217-483-9596 number back, as I am sick of these types of rude people invading MY privacy and am going to start invading theirs. I only got their recording but I left my own RUDE message (at least I felt a little better). OK, so if they can legally call my number (I am on DNC,also) isn't there any law against their rudeness and language? or how many times they can call? Do these organizations call the homes of our Congressmen? I am sick of these calls and need someone to tell me what can be done to stop them. Call my congressman? No, I mean, seriously.

funny, i had a legit call from a retired cop yesterday and bingo today i start getting these police begging for money calls. that's f'd.

these guys are a real charity and they spend more charitable money on there programs vs administrative cost than any other law enforcement charity. just go to youtube.com and search police protective fund and watch their video its crazy!

Does anyone honor the do not call list? Do they believe we are dumb enough to commit money to an organization at the drop of a hat without investigating who they are?

They're relentless. They usually ask for my husband by his official name, not his nickname, which is a tipoff. Once, I politely asked to be removed from their list. The guy growled, "F*%* you."

We are on the Do Not Call list and continue to get calls from this number. I do not pick up their calls. Just let it ring! Never will pick it up.

Another CRAP call which I DIDN'T ANSWER. After doing a Google search I see the number "SUPPOSEDLY" belongs to the Police Protection Fund (for the families of slain police officers) which is apparently more crap. This type "fund" would not be solicited over the phone. DO NO ANSWER THIS NUMBER!!!

Called my cell. Picked it up and was ringing tone at other end then dead air. The Do Not Call list is a joke. Then minutes later I get another call displaying "unknown" which I never answer anyway. Just hit ignore on them.

It's actually called the "Police Protective Fund." They're allowed to call people on the national Do Not Call List because they're registered as a charity, but they keep much of what they manage to squeeze out of people for "administrative" expenses.

I don't pick up their calls. I got a call from a legitimate police fund once, and it left a legitimate toll-free number I could call to get off of their calling list. This organization is relentless, and I'm not sure I'd trust them to take me off of their list.

thanks for the web site information. I just called their main headquarters in California at 888-476-1042 and put my name on their automated DO NOT CALL list. I suggest you do the same. Almost 70% of the funds they raise is used for fundraising. Ii is a total rip off.

I get these calls all the time. The "funny" thing is it's always a different charitable organization, always related to the police in some way or another. The number and the "charity" may be different, but the voice on the other end of the line is ALWAYS the same...very rude, very aggressive. The call tonight was at 8:30, I've also had calls from them at 7:30 in the morning. I always thought they had from 9AM to 8PM to call. I do know that charities whether legitimate or not are exempt from the DO NOT CALL list...how unfortunate for us.

501c3 non-profits are exempt from the National Do Not Call List. Look it up if you don't believe me.

I get a call from this number at least once a week. I have caller ID so I don't even pickup but it is a turn-off knowing it is supposed to be collecting for the police. I have my own way of contributing to the local and state police.

Aggressive is an understatement. The whole approach is to intimidate you through hard-selling tactics and guilt for not helping the police.

They have called before; they leave no message; when I have answered they are very aggressive. The DO NOT CALL list is only for the incoming calls without "words" or "unknown". So much for the do not call list!

They called tonight and I said "stop calling me". I heard a "screw you" in the background. I'm reporting them to the Illinois Attorney General's office, Federal Do Not Call list, and my local police department.

This may very well be the same people claiming to be collecting donations for the McHenry County Police Department. I did not answer the call, and they naturally did not leave a message.

The guy calls home phone has my name - says he is with the Police Protection Fund. I interrupt him, tell him I've got no money for him - and I ask if he is a policeman. He sounds like an angry redneck says he's not a telemarketer, calls me "boy" and hangs up.
