Re: Zipweb.com. Be careful when talking w/ this company. Internet blogs say that they will try to collect bogus charges from online purchases. A mere conversation w/ any reps., in their minds, constitutes a right to make bogus billings on credit cards or on communication accounts (i.e., telephone bills). Watch your statements and contact your credit card or other immediately to dispute!
I don't answer unknown callers. ;-) Of course I'm on the DNC list and have anonymous call rejection turned on.
Called during mid-lunch hour. First time (hopefully last time, too!) ;-)
I answered, there was a long pause (typical of telemarketing firms) and the person on the other end asked to speak to "the owner of the business." When I said she'd reached a wrong number as there was no business at the number she'd called, she apologized poitely and hung up.
they called and hung up
Call several times a day they sure are annoying!
This is a telemarketing front for Zipweb. The internet is littered with hundreds of irate victims of their scam, basically a bait-and-switch of a "free" service with a deceptively passive-agressive approach from their telemarketers. Because they charge for their practically worthless services via adding charges to your phone bill, the victims of their rip-off don't feel they are in danger of being slammed with charges -- after all, they never give their credit card number to anyone, right?
I just received a phone call from "Beth" and she tried to give me the sales pitch. I immediately stopped her and asked how she could sleep at night working for a company with a business plan that is tantamount to outright theft. Whether because of the language barrier (English is obviously not Beth's first language) or because she was taken aback, she had no clue to what I was referring. I spelled it out a bit more carefully and colorfully and that was that.
Yes, the owners and directors of these companies are the worst of the worst and are the ultimate villains in these situations, but I hold their telemarketers responsible, too, and am not afraid to let them know I don't appreciate their complicity in a scam designed to steal from me.
Not sure who these people are, they keep calling 3-4 times a day and don't leave messages. It's getting beyond annoying. Based on other posts I've read, it sounds like some telemarketing co. that wants something. I wish they'd stop already. I answered once and got no response.
