Calls every nights at about 8:50. Never answered. Try to call back but line is busy

They kept calling and calling. I told them I'm on the Do Not Call list and they called the very next day. When I told the operator I knew who they were and why they were calling (purportedly the NYC Dept. of Health taking a survey of people with cell phones), and that I was on the list and they should not call me, she then asked me if I have a landline. I told her no. She seemed stumped by that one. Then she said, "Well, can you answer a couple of questions?" No! That was the whole damn point--I'm not answering any questions for your stupid survey so stop harassing me. Fortunately that was my last call from this horrible, unethical, criminal people--for now.

I wish I could tell them to take me off their list. They hang up as soon as I start saying it. So much for that theory!

So, 212-448-5501 calls me every single evening. If I do answer, they say they
are with the Boston Health Dept and they are polling Boston residents. I tell
them 1) I do not live in Boston; 2) if you are the Boston Health Dept, why are
you calling from a NY number?; 3) I am on the do not call list so they shouldn't
be calling me; and 4) take me off your calling list and do not call me again.
ever. --- yet, they keep calling. If I do not answer, I get a voicemail full of elevator music.

I reported it to the donotcall.gov complaint line and also notified the Boston Health Commission.

You are with all due respect an absolute idiot. I don't care how long these people have been callling folks at dinnertime asking God knows what. Not cool. Simple as that. If you want to take a survey do a mailing and let folks do it on their own time. Yes it is more expensive but if it was done more often there would probably be better responses to the given cause. NO ONE wants to be harassed by phone! THATS IT! These days I can't even believe anyone even tries it! LOL! The thing that really sinks these guys is the giveaway "delay" from the moment you say "hello" and the time that the buttsniff answers and immediatly mispronounces your name!!! And if you think for a minute that the effects of second had smoke would never have been discovered if it were not for annoying calls to residences...well I can't tell you how stupid that sounds.

This is the second night I have received a call from this number. The first voicemail was static white noise and the second the ever popular Vivaldi. Strange that a person or persons would take time to do such a meaningless thing. Oh well, Vivaldi wasn't so horrible. I have had much worse left on my voice mail. My advice screen your calls people! The world is weird!

I also got this freak calling me. Its really annoying. He/She/..It leaves the Vivaldi's Spring music. It's weird. I want it to stop! At random times he calls and my phone blares Taylor Swift. Ugh go away freak!!!!!!!!

I understand the need to vent, but you, and others here need to understand that you shouldn't make the legitimate companies pay because of a few idiots. And as far as the take me off the list thing? They are obligated to do so if you tell them. if they dont, and they call you again, inform the person that you told the last person to remove you from the list. There are some people that work for ABT SRBI, just like in all other companies, that only care about how good they look. If someone with no morals gets told to take someone off the list, they will not do it. But there are many more employees that if told that the last person did not remove you from the list, that employee will begin an investigation and find out who the unscrupulous employee is and get them fired. Its standard protocol at ABT and they take it seriously. 80% of the employees at ABT are good people, and they do not like harassing others, and they do not enjoy being screamed at or threatened, just because someone did not want to look bad. So for those of you who are not being removed from the list, kindly tell the next person that you informed the last person that called to remove you from the list and that employee will start an investigation that will lead to the unscrupulous one to become unemployed because ABT takes that kind of breach of protocol seriously. I know for a fact because that is what I do and what many of my fellow employees do. The first thing I do when someone tells me that they told the last ABT employee that called, to remove them from the list, I apologize for the inconvenience, politely ask if you can recall the name of the person that called (that makes the investigation so much easier), I remove you from the system so you are not called again, and I begin the paperwork/legwork to discover who it was that refused to remove you from the list. So before you decide to threaten someone or scream at anyone at ABT, or call them "scumbags"..."Laure". try to remember that they are not all scumbags and they do not all deserve to be treated as such just because a few of them are scumbags. And before I go I feel the need to go over the "Do Not Call List" yet again for the billionth time... The DNC list ONLY applies to companies attempting to sell you something, it does NOT apply to research firms. So please stop trying to play the DNC card because its like yelling "UNO!" while playing BlackJack, it just does not apply.

Wrote the following email to all of them: "We are on the Do Not Call Registry, so **STOP** harrassing us with your calls -- we're filing a complaint against you every time. Next time we get a call from you, we'll file a formal complaint with the FCC. And don't even think of spamming this email address -- or face the consequences. Scumbags."

In response to Shutup, your points are well taken. However, we don't care who is calling. Don't know how many times a "legitimate" company has called and, when asked politely to remove name from the call list, they have gotten very testy, say they will remove name, and then call the next day, next week, or next month. You can't blame folks for getting pissed off at the "legitimate" company because of all the calls "illegitimate" companies make. Don't know what solution can be found to correct this, but give us a break. We need to vent as, obviously, nothing seems to be getting done about any of these unwanted calls.

You people are idiots with that do not call list crap, it only applies to telemarketers, not research. So you can just swallow that hot load you call the "Do Not Call List". Also, That classical music you hear is likely a problem with the system not properly hanging up the phone, as they are not supposed to leave a message at all. The cell phone thing, it is not fishy, if you also have a land line they cannot do the study because it could lead to inaccurate data collection because there is a chance that you could do the same survey twice, and yes, there are people that would do it twice and not tell the interviewer they already did it. And the health survey thing? wow you people are dumb, try asking for a website, or better yet, just search for BRFSS, that's what the health survey is and it has been going on for almost 30 years, the fact that you people have never heard of it tells me you need to pull your heads out of your asses. How do you think they discover things like cigarettes affect the heart, not just lungs, or that red wine is beneficial for the heart? Researches don't just wake up every morning with this information, they get it from the data that these people calling you collect. So when you tell them to get a real job, maybe you should ask yourselves if you are the ones that need real jobs that actually matter. You may not like people calling you and asking you about your health but without them, we would not have half the medical advances that we have, and we would still be wondering why people who drink have damaged livers and why smoking leads to heart attacks, not to mention the second hand smoke issues. Who do you think discovered that? It sure as hell was not any of you people.

While unfortunately necessary, if you have a Verizon Wireless phone, you can now block calls based on the caller ID (for up to three months at a time). Log into your VWZ account, go to "My Services", then choose "SPAM Control". From there, you can stop the calls from these motherless fucks.

I was called by this number at 6:44 pm June 16th, 2010. Female caller stated that she calling for an "important survey for the New York City Health Department." They knew it was my 212 cell phone number-only place I ever listed that was on the New York State tax forms before.

called and said they were doing some health care survey that would be used to allocate tax dollars...also the data would be used by universities for various studies. i initially refused to answer questions, but he said most people don't meet the criteria for the survey anyway, it would only take a minute, and if i didn't qualify he'd take me off the call list. ok, i said. first question he verified my phone number he'd just called. i confirmed, yes, that's this number. 2nd question "is this a cell phone"...no, it's a land line. his response "ok, we are only wanting cell phone numbers, so you don't qualify" thanked me for my time and got off the phone. sounds pretty fishy to me.

SO they called again at 7:42 pm, a woman from a health survey. She politely apolgized for calling my cell phone, but said there's a $5 reward for answering all the questions; I said I wasn't over 16 and she ended the call.

Received call 8:30PM PST. Caller identified themselves, I don't recall though. Said they were doing a survey for University of California on using computers at the home. He asked if there was a landline I could be reached on. Since there wasn't, he said they compensate people $10 to answer their questions on cell phones. I gave them a chance. The survey took 15 minutes, sounded legit. No really personal questions - mostly "how often do you use the computer for ...", "how often do you use the cell phone for ...", etc. A few profiling question (income range, race, age, etc.), but nothing personally identifying. Finally asked for an address to mail me a $10 check. I declined to give this info, told them there was no need. He said "thank you very much, have a nice evening", and that was it.

Overall, sounded pretty legit survey company.

These people are persistent!!! 'Doing a survey for healthcare reform??? I just don't give out personal information over the phone so I asked if they have a website that I can fill up. He said they don't do that online. Hmmm, looks like they just want to get some personal information from you and use on something else. The caller called twice and hung up without leaving a message. The third time he played music from " The Seasons".

They rang my cellphone twice today. The first time there was a message -- just classical music with no words. Later, I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message. I'm sure the first message was because they didn't hang up quickly enough.

Calls 3-4 times a day. Has just now started leaving voicemails - 4 mintues of just BEEP BEEP. Blacklisted them on our phone system.

My husband's phone received a call from this # when dialing back got music. I called back it said the call can not get through. I receive calls all day long from an Unvailable when I pick up theres no answer. This is weird there must be something we can do. I guess just don't answer but I hate to have my phone ring and not answer. I wonder if we contact our phone company , it's being charged for the calls we answer. Why else would they do this, makes no sense.

These people have called my cell phone four nights in a row. The first time they called, they left a message that said they would call back, but now I just cut off the call before it can go to voice mail. You would think that they would finally take the hint and stop calling. They always call between 7:15 and 8:45pm, and I'm not going to waste any of my 300 "anytime" minutes on them.

So answering a few little questions about how many people live in your house, and when the last time you saw a doctor, is probably the least dangerous thing you can do with your private information. If you do not want anyone to get any of your information this is what I suggest you do, and this is the only sure fire way to avoid someone getting your information. 1. Get rid of the internet and destroy any and all of your computer devices. 2.Destroy your cell phone, and your house phone. 3. Gather up all of your personal information: Social Security cards, birth certificates, bank statements, etc., put them in a pile in your back yard and set it on fire. 4. Get rid of your house and everything you own. 5. Move to an extremely remote location, such as Antarctica, the Sahara, or better yet, the Sun. 6. Avoid all contact with any and all intelligent life. There, follow those steps and you should be well on your way to keeping all of your personal information safe. Next, I think its amazing how many lawyers we seem to have here complaining and filing lawsuits and claiming this or that is illegal. Seems to be a new campaign by telemarkers to call & hangup all throughout the day without speaking to the party anwering the phone. What's the point?

I got two calls from them this week. I recognized this as a New York phone number and I don't know anyone from NY so I didn't answer. When I tried calling back from a different line, it says "Your call did not go through. Please try again. 064T." Obviously, this is a land-line number but belonging to business that has multiple lines. I was able to Google the number and came to this site. If it indeed belongs to a company called "SRBI" then I will phone them first thing and ask to speak to someone who can remove me from their calling list. And I plan on harassing them on a daily basis until they agree to do it.

Have been receiving calls from this number most days of the week, including Sunday. Just picked up the phone and was told they wanted to take a survey regarding medical conditions and started asking me if the people in my household had X condition. Ummm...that is protected health information that the federal government has seen fit to pass laws to protect. I'm not about to give it out to someone who calls me on the phone and I don't care HOW educated they claim to be. I told the individual that I am not interested in participating in the survey and that I am on the Do Not Call Registry. After I clearly stated that I DO NOT wish to participate, the gentleman persisted and would not let me get another word in edgewise until he pressed me with his question again. Since he was not interested in my willingness to participate, I was no longer interested in being civil. I hung up.

..Oh and to those of you who claim to be getting calls all hours of the night..it's company policy to not call after 9. If you tell the person calling you to call back and an earlier hour..they will.

Instead of saying stupid, I will say ignorant. You people are so ignorant. SRBI is contracted by several government agencies, such as the Department of Transportation, Military, Homeland Security, along with many other companies who do scientific research, and leading magazines such as TIME. The DNC does not and will not apply to them because A.) They will NEVER try to sell you anything B.) They do not use a list. The phone numbers are randomized by the computer.

I work for SRBI, and more often than not we are doing surveys which will help determine where YOUR TAX money goes. I know half of you people will say " throw the survey in the mail" and then the same people will throw it away.

We get calls at all hours of the day and night. It happens at least once a night for the past 2 months. We would like it to stop..... It is very upsetting. We are in the midwest and caller ID indicates it is a New York caller, no message.

At least 20 hang ups finally answered and they claim they are calling from Princeton University doing a survey. I told them " not interested and advised them not to call again" I'm on DNC registry. They also asked if it was a business phone or home phone.

message ever left.) The caller asked for me by name. When I asked who they were, the guy said some first name and proceeded to say he was from the MTA and then the
line just went dead. Hmmmm. I noticed scrolling down here that Linda reported an MTA call. Her post was below Douglas' back in Dec 08.

Am also on DNC registry. I believe political parties/candidates are permitted to ignore DNC, but surely this sort of crap shouldn't be. ESPECIALLY after 8:00p when
the children are just getting to bed.

Yeah, if I get 1 other call, I'm reporting them immediately. Arrrghh

Call came in at 8:24pm on Feb. 20, 2009. Call ID said New York, NY and since I don't know anyone there I didn't pick up. There was no message left, but then the outgoing message on my voicemail is Captain Spaulding from the movie House Of 1000 Corpses.

I get at least 2 calls a day. I answered yesterday twice and heard a females voice laughing and then they hung up. It sounded exactly the same both times. I could swear it was a recording. When I try to call back the number is always busy. I am on the do not call list

Oh yeh, I forgot the other questions, when I scrolled down the comments, others mentioned that the caller asked for household and demographic questions. Duh! I did answer them. If they use the info as general survey, then fine, otherwise I'll be in big trouble!

I reveived this call on 2/7/09, said they are doing a survey for the NYC Dept of Health regarding the cell phone usage. This was the second or third time I received the call, at that time even though I was a little suspicious (whoops, did not do a search this time), but do the survey anyways.
The person asked me some simple questions and said that I will receive a $10 check for participation. Before getting to the questions, I asked how long it would take to go thru the questions, the person said it would range from 5 to 20 minutes. He sounded sincere, so I went on to answer the questions. He was asking about landline usage to the cell phone (eg. % on cell and % calls on landline), and some other simple questions. Finally he took down my mailing address, and then gave me a 800 number and a reference key for me to follow up on the reimbursement check. I called the 800 number (800-772-9287) to verify if it's a real number, a person took the call. It seems like legit. (He was asking for the key number, and asked me when did I take the survey.)

I called verizon (this company's carrier) and complained..I had the number blocked..Verizon told me they would look into this harrassment, as I am on a do not call list....

2/7/09 My plan is to get a hold of SNBI and call them everyday at the same time!

They called 3 times, we didn’t answer the phone (all 3 calls). They didn’t leave a message, we answered the 4th call and the women on phone claims that she is from Health and Human Services of New Jersey.

I do not have caller ID. This is second call that I have answered from this number. Both times caller said it was a cultural survey in the US. Last call I asked to be removed from call list, and was told there was not a call list, the calls were random. I related that my number had come up twice randomly and do not call again. The caller then told me twice that this was the first time my number had been called. I repeated "do not call this number again" and hung up.

The guy called on this number at 8:16 PM and said he was from SRBI and was taking survey on MTA and how to improve customer service. At first, I answered all his questions which was general in nature (i.e. how often did I take the train, etc), but then the questions became more personal (i.e. how many people live in the house, what are the ages, etc, etc.) I hung up. I'm NEVER going to pick up phone from people I don't know again -- EVER!

This is all a little disquieting to me considering all the scams that are circulating out there these days. I have utilized the blocking service available through my phone company. I suggest you all do the same.

Just because a company called from one state doesn't mean the research isn't applicable to you. That kind of work is often outsourced to one company just like collections. It also doesn't mean the research isn't valid or that it's about the same things that others have been asked.

I do think they need to leave a message when they call and if you tell them to stop they should. They've called here a few times (and I don't like receiving these calls on Sunday) but never left a message. I didn't answer because I didn't know who it was or what it was for.

Like others have said there are exceptions to the DO NOT CALL list. It could be a survey about someone you've recently done business with also. Any recent business transactions are exempt from that list last I heard. I guess that could have changed.

No message. Call was taken by CallWave while I was on the computer. I am on the Do Not Call list, but continue to get MANY calls from different numbers.

I understand tnat companies are hoping those with caller ID will be curious and call them back, thus getting around the Do Not Call register.

Number has been calling my house for days. I am on the DNC list. They call during day and in evening.

Note to everybody: reading some of these messages, this company appears to possibly be a survey organization. FYI, survey organizations/polling firms, etc. are all *exempt* from the DNC law.

This number is from a Health srvey which is a continuation of a survey you or whoever the survey is looking for. This survery is conducted in highschools and follows students anonymously in their smoking and drugs use. They search for you after highschool so that they may continue "following" the chages in the life of the students drug and smoking use. I finally picked up and talked to them and remembered the surveys i had taken in highschool. they will also look you up through your school directories emeail you, and call your home phone number to find your cell numbers. just answer their questions and they mail you 20 bucks WITHOUT any other mailings, and trust me they already know your address(they give you 5 dollar gift cards in highschool) does anyone else remember these quizzes?

BEWARE OF SNEAKY BILL COLLECTORS & THEIR ILLEGAL PRACTICES!!!

As a person who has fallen on hard times recently & has been unemployed for several months now, I receive calls daily from collection agencies. Explaining the situation to these folks rarely does any good.
I have worked as a bill collector in the past & can
speak from 1st hand knowledge.
These folks are paid to get payments from debtors or locate assets, or a job to sue against.
There are laws governing their behavior but they will resort to creative, underhanded & dishonest ways in which information is obtained (seeking info from relatives, etc.).
Remember, I know about these practices first hand). Call my current situation bad karma or something else if you will, but the best advice I can give anyone is this:
If you owe & can pay, then do so, but if you can't then don't even speak a word to these folks. Their interest is to break you down by any means. This is the only way they can stay in business.
If someone keeps calling you after you've asked them not to, that should be your 1st indication that they can only hurt you. Don't answer any questions!

I have gotten several calls on my cell phone by this number, and a man was offering me to take a survey. I politefully said no, and hung up. He's called twice, the next two nights, and I haven't picked up. This jerk and whatever sham company he's working should be banned from calling under the Do Not Call list, but they seem to be exempt. If I get another call from this number, I'll curse him out.

Called my cell tonight, 12/4/06, 9:22 PM. I let it go to voicemail; no message left.

These people keep calling me in the evenings on a Sun during dinner time. This has got to stop!

Called 11/26/06 about 6:30 p.m. EST. Young girl mumbled something about a survey (after not saying anything for a while, as is usual with these calls - it sounded like she was talking to her friends). I told her I didn't do phone surveys and was about to tell her to take me off the list when she slammed down the phone. The next night, 11/27/06, 6:53 p.m. EST call came from same number on my caller ID when I was out, but didn't leave a message. I found this web page and decided to call SRB directly. I called 11/28/06 and spoke to a friendly woman named Daniella. She said she would have my number removed. I haven't received any calls since then. I'm not naive enough to think this is the end of it, but I like to think that it's possible that it MAY be. So I suggest that all of you call the company (see message from Eddie11755 NY
2006-11-04). Daniella said that it's very helpful if you can tell her which survey called you, since they have so many. Thanks Eddie11755 for getting the information! By the way, you do all realize that the DNC list doesn't apply to surveys. Also, I off-handedly mentioned a class-action suit that I hoped I wouldn't have to get involved in if the calls don't stop, but actually, I wasn't able to find out anything about it (see Ken L 2006-10-26). Called my home 4 nights in a row at dinnertime,11/24/06,11/25,11/26,11/27 with all different types of surveys. Asked to have my # removed from their list every time. Said they're exempt from DNC List. Asked to speak to supervisor. Supervisor stated they wouldn't call again. We'll see. I'm still making a complaint to DNC registry for whatever good that will do. I agree with the other poster; Mr.Schulman needs a personal wake-up call.

Called about 1:00 today, Sunday. My daughter answered and they asked if anyone 18 or over was home. She said no. I find this whole thing very fishy. Caller ID said unavailable.

I was just called again, (8:09PM EST) and recogonized the number before I even answered. When I gruffly asked what he wanted he identified himself as Richard and said he was conducting a transportion survery. I immediately informed him that I was on the DNC list and that this call was illegal. I told him that he was going to be reported and I hung up.

I just googled 212-448-5501 and was lead to this site. Grrrr....we have a private number and we are on the state and national no-call list, so this really chaps my hide. No message was left and when I called the number back a recording told me I would be unable to complete the call as dialed. The call originates in New York and came into our haome at 8:10 pm CST

I couldn't understand what he was saying at first, something about doing a survey and that he was in New York. Then he said, "May I speak to anyone in the house over the age of 12?" That's when I hung up.

This number called my fiance's house asking for me, but I don't live there. He asked the caller 10 times to take him off his calling list, but the man continued to harrass him about a survey on transportation.

They called at 3:50 Sunday afternoon. The call came in on an unlisted trunk business line- it ussually only rings if the other line is busy. We never answer that line if the other line is not in use, as none of our clients actually have that number.

I got a call from this number on a sunday immediately after I had purchased something from sports authority online. No msg left.

Had 3 calls in same day and looked into it b/c last call was almost 9:00pm PST. Thought it might be legit. Got same quick busy tone others got. Glad to know not to answer if I'm home.

Explained that, even though they are doing political surveys and as such, are permitted to call persons on the DNC list, they still must keep a list of numbers who have requested to be removed from their calling list in accordance with the TCPA of 1996.

The phone number 212-448-5501 called at 8:14pm CST on October 18, 2006 and again at 7:17pm CST on October 23, 2006. It said OUT OF AREA with the phone number on the caller ID. I didn't recognize the number so I let it go to the answering machine. There was no message left. These are the second and third times this number has called my house this month. The first time was on October 13, 2006 at 8:23pm CST.

They just don't stop no mater how many times you ask. I asked how much they wanted to stop calling me and they said they were not after money. I di however find out who they are SRBI and the web site is srbi.com and we can start by find an unlisted home number for Mark A. Schulman the President of that group he is from New York. And if any hackers want to destroy the web site please they need taught a lesson. I know that I am going to find Mark A. Schulman, he is due a good @$$ kicking.

These people call 4 times/day at all hours late, early. The i.d. shows up and we do not answer they keep calling for 3 days now. I am on the do not call list.

Call came through at 5.59PM on Sat., 10/14 - Call ID said 'Unavailable' - We let it go to machine where the caller hung up - Upon trying to return the call, I got a FBY signal - All numbers with ascending prefixes (like 5502, 5503, et al) gave me the same signal.

The phone number 212-448-5501 called my house at 8:23pm CST on Friday October 13, 2006. It said OUT OF AREA with the phone number on the caller ID. I didn't recognize the number so I let it go to the answering machine. There was no message left. This is the first time this number has called my house that I am aware of.

Called at 7:08 pm EST and I didn't answer it becaues it said the name was "Unavailable." They didn't leave a message.

This number has called my cell phone almost everyday this week. Since its my cell phone I dot pick up unless I know the caller. They called me at 8:57pm central time

I have been getting calls from this number on my fax line, which I never answer. It has an answering machine, but they never leave a message.

Really stupid surveyor for Amtrak

My fiance answered the phone and the guy asked for me by name. It was the middle of dinner so he told him I wasn't available. The guy gave his name as Robert Hannah from SRBI as if I was supposed to know who that was.

I didn't answer and they left no message

Called asking for our son. When told he wasn't in, they said the'd call back. They wouldn't leave a message & said they were from "The James" which is the name of the OSU cancer hospital.

The man said he was calling from the University of Pennsylvania and doing a paid survey on men's health and he wanted to know if I had any men living in the household. I simply hung up on him.
