Hey, Poll Fact. Take your bull shit propaganda someplace else. It's not the people posting here who don't understand. It's you who is a bit confused. The fact that what you assholes do is legal is totally beside the point. Being annoyed and harassed isn't any more tolerable simply because it's legal. And I personally don't give a rats ass if capitalism likes to take surveys. The fact is that people don't like these fucking calls. What is it about that that you dumb fucks don't understand? Direct marketing lobby lines the pockets of politicians who then sell their constituents down the river by making loop holes in the law (politicians and telemarketers are a lot alike -- neither one gives a shit about the public). You jerks are a real piece of work. You read people's complaints about your assault on their privacy, and then you arrogantly blow them off as if the right to be left alone in their own homes is some outrageous demand. It would be hard to find another profession as degenerate as yours. Even thieves, rapists, and murderers at least know what they're doing is wrong.

Just received a call from them. Lady claimed to be from Ipso Reid advising that it is not a telemarketing call and they are not trying to sell anything. She wanted to do a survey on foods fed to infants, which is fine as we have one and she eats. Right when she was about to confirm whether I qualified for the survey, my phone hung itself up. I would assume it was from either the Telezapper I have or the special soliciting block that Primus has for their customers. When she tried to call again, I received an automated message that a potential telemarketing call has been detected and whether I wanted to continue call. Oh well... she hung up by that time.

Actually for me but I didn't know who it was, and since i didn't know the number i was not here. Does not leave a message. and on the caller ID it is Winnipeg MB
They need to stop I don't have time to be running to the phone for people like this.

Called me three times within five hours today and two times within an hour last night. I never answered.

"Poll fact 1" owned you guys.

Stop complaining, survey research is an important tool used in todays society. If you do not wish to be called, say "add me to your do not call list please, thank-you and have a good evening". 95% of the people who work for Ipsos Reid are students who are struggling to keep the lights on and food on the table.

I've started to receive calls from Ipsos Reid again. These are the first calls I've received in almost exactly six months as I asked to be removed from their calling list back in April. Looks like I'll be asking for my number to be removed again. Hopefully, they won't call again for another six months.

I used to work at this place - the one in ottawa!!! IT SUCKED!

BUT HEADS UP TO ANYONE GETTING PHONE CALLS FROM IPSOS :

if you hang up, they will call back. Again and again and again.

If you don't want to be bothered you must said "please take me off your list" - If the staff does not hear the word "list" they WILL NOT REMOVE YOU. Phrases such as "fuck off" or "don't ever call me again" doesn't work! And you may be on a national DO NOT CALL LIST - but those apply to telemarketers and IPSOS is a survey company and they have their OWN Do Not Call list!

And if there is no answer when they call, they will call back.
If they ask for someone, and you say they are not there, or don't wan't to talk, they will call back.

They only way to escape them is to do the survey (IPSOS NEVER SELLS ANYTHING - ALL I EVER DID THERE WAS DO STUPID SURVEYS!)
or you have to tell them to put you on the DO NOT CALL LIST!

Good luck all.

Got 2 calls from this number today within probably an hour. Didn't get the phone in time the first time, but answered the second time. The lady went through her whole speal and wanted to speak to someone over 19 (which, I most definately am) for a survey. She then asked if there were any smokers in the house, which there isn't so that was the end of the call. She thanked me and wished me a nice evening...she was quite pleasent. Why get bent outta shape and start screaming and yelling??

May 5th, 2008 Bessie BC Canada

I received five calls in one day from this number. It just said "Manitoba" on Caller ID. No message.

April 28th, 2008 Andy BC Canada

Ipsos Reid has called twelve times in the last four days, according to my call display. I wasn't home for any of them, except for the twelfth call today. I answered and was asked to participate in a survey. I said that I wasn't interested and asked that they remove my number from their database. The agent said he'd do that, thanked me, then rang off.

Seemed like a fairly painless process. We shall see if they carry through with their pledge to remove me from their database.

March 27th, 2008 poll fact 1 QC Canada

FACT Three: When you see a number you do not know and don't pick it up and they don't leave a message. Guess why? Gee, I dunno. Do you think survey companies are comprised of 2-4 people sitting in a comfy room occasionally dialing and leaving messages to those not home. Get real. They are call centers spread across North America some with 200-300 people. The goal of call centers (telemarketing also) is to talk to people. If they are not home (or too scared or dumb to answer and see who is calling - guess what. They call back. It is just like you might do with a friend. You call their doorbell but there not home. You pass by leter to see if they are in or you call them back since it was your intention to talk to them. It is not rocket science folks. So, when the phone calls. and you do not recognize the number answer the damn thing. Have some balls.

March 27th, 2008 poll fact 1 QC Canada

BUT, but but, but why? Well, boys and girls, the machinations of corporate capitalism sees market research as an important for understanding the consumer's perception. Though I know not one person ever thinks 'hey I like this product because of this over this product.' No, people just numbly buy whatever you see within the first ten seconds of hitting an aisle or car dealership. Get real. Look, the very companies everyone holds up as leaders at local, or national levels - the very companies you work for - have market research departments. Are people so naive about the very heart of what drives the Western free market economy. Understanding the consumer. Good god almighty. Maybe something to be not so proud of when you send little Johnny to Business School at State Whatever University etc. He is enmeshing himself into the very mechanisms that create the world of marketing, which is fed to a large degree by market research. So, it might be better to go bay after the deception makers who teach and forge the young minds in Marketing Departments at business schools across the land.

March 27th, 2008 poll fact 1 QC Canada

FACT ONE: Canada does not have a do not call list, but soon it will soon for Canadians in all provinces who wish not to be called by telemarketers. And, just like the the do not call lists in the United States, the UK (that the United Kingdom for those with poor world knowledge), surveys (political, market research or customer satisfaction surveys; i.e: you own a Honda - Honda asks "Say Mr. Jones how do what do like about you 2001 Civic. blah blah.) will be exempt. Yes, people it says right there clearly on the Do Not Call List information forms both US National and State DNC lists. Survey companies are EXEMPT from the Do Not Call list in EVERY SINGLE STATE, territory and invaded foreign country. Yes, surveys are done in Iraq ladies and gentlemen by some companies.

March 27th, 2008 poll fact 1 QC Canada

As a part-time phone interviewer (in Canada) who understands the anger of some people who get telemarketing calls but does not understand why people are not literate enough to read the Do Not Call List regulations. Please let me enlighten you.

February 19th, 2008 EmmGee-Ohio OH

I think it's cute that a research firm would call someone who can easily be biased! Being a media person, I would not be eligible for this firm's surveys. Hell, I'm not even eligible for Nielson Surveys. The FTC's "Do Not Call List" does NOT include calls outside of the USA. Reason being, you cannot reprimand telemarketers and surveyors in another country, by US standards. Those of you who made reference to reporting, that's their way of getting around it. .. be out of the country. Clever, but the internet has many of us being more informed, thanks to AL Gore (lol).

Yes, this call came in usually in the evening, slightly before dinner, and then slightly after. The days of the call are February 12,14 & 15 of 2008.

January 28th, 2008 Anonymous NB Canada

Calls have been coming from this number to my house for days. This evening, (a Sunday night), they called at least a dozen times. This is harassment. The number is listed on their corporate website at: www.ipsos-na.com (drop the city down the Winnepeg, MB).

I will never answer you Ipsos. Fuck you.

October 26th, 2007 Gary

Received calls from this number every day for the past 3 days (Oct 23, 24, 25, '07). I didn't answer because I thought it was some kind of solicitor. And my number is registered on the Do Not Call list!

October 13th, 2007 drv IL

Didn't answer this call but after doing some research found out the company is Ipsos Reid - a survey company. I can't find anywhere on their website to add my number to their Do Not Call list.

How do I stop them from calling?

  1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
  2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
  3. Block them with a call blocker or something like Nomorobo.
