Don't know who "dial America" is. They didn't leave a message.

I discovered that TheWeek magazine has been selling our private information to Telemarketers. When I called and asked TheWeek magazine about this they said all magazines do this. We are on the do no tcall list

We get calls from this number several times a week and I am so very tired of it! I have reported it on the Do No Call Registry web page but they can't really investigate all of the complaints they get. I wish there were a way to block these calls!

This is a telemarketer. If you are receiving any kind of magazine, they are calling to get you to renew your subscription. I've told them several times to take me off their call list, they have not.

Dial America calls leaving no message and will then call again - sometimes after only 15 minutes - and again no message. Who are these people?

Second call from them since I started keeping track last week. I don't answer, they don't leave a message. We are on the DNC list, so WTF? So annoying.

Doesn't seem to matter if you are on the "no call list" or not, until they courts or FCC gets involved they will still continue bothering us. We should get together and file a class action suit... hit them wher it hurts.

Maybe this is another one of OBAMA's way of lowering the unemployment rate... hire more telemarketers.

I answered the phone. Recorded message said "This is Dial America calling you for telemarketing purposes. We will try to reach you again at a later time." They didn't even try to connect to someone -- as soon as I picked up the recorded message started.

Stop the calls. We are on no call list. Dial America calls twice a day.

thanks for nailing down this repeat annoyance. comes regularly in the east coast a.m. hours. usually a hang-up after 3-4 rings. i have no caller id so i use *69.

Just got my 10th call from these annoyers. Person on phone said she was calling from Tennessee, from Dial America on behalf of Memory Makers magazine (weird because the area code is New Jersey). They wanted to renew my subscription at a "special reduced rate." I reminded her that I am on the National DNC list, and that I have also previously asked not to be called by Memory Makers. She immediately took me off their calling list and rattled off some 800 number to call in the future. We'll see if that actually works...

receiving numerous calls from 201 area. dial america receives compensation from madd of over 1.5 million dollars a year.

Called the number back and followed the instructions to contact customer service at 800-931-3765. Requested to have my name removed. Rep said they would do it and calls should stop after five to seven business days. Here's hoping.

I get called by them almost daily, if not every other day. They have even tried to call me on Saturday mornings and Sunday evenings. It's been going on for at least a month now, and they don't seem to give up.

Been receiving calls for about 3 weeks now. Never leave messages, asked for me by name, but hung up when they were told I wasn't available (no "thank you" or any politeness at all). The only thing that comes to mind is that they are trying to renew my lapsed magazine subscriptions for either NickJr. Magazine or Memory Makers. However I've never had a problem with Memory Makers before. My husband is the one usually asked for by telemarketers.

I usually answer the phone but immediately hang up so that the company is charged for 1 minute of air time. HA! I do it as many times as they call, it usually only takes 3x's/row before they get the hint. They already have my number, and they don't seem to respect the DNC list or my previous requests to keep me free of their annoyances.

Oh yeah, and if the name is showing up on the caller ID for some, but not for you... it's NOT because the telemarketers are blocking that from happening. That's your local carrier's problem... You probably never noticed it because you weren't receiving calls from that area code.

And yes... I work in the industry... and yes, I answer the phone and talk to telemarketers EVERY TIME. I've gotten some killer deals that way.

These telemarketing companies are so huge and call for so many different things that when you call them back, there's no possible way they are going to know exactly why you were contacted. It's like junk mail over the phone...

People on the nationl do-not-call list purchase more than people who are not on the the do-not-call list. Further, people never bothered to read the actual legislation when signing up for the DNC so they expect all calls to cease. Sorry, doesn't work that way.

Dial America has been calling here 2-3 times a day for the last 3-4 weeks. We don't answer the call and let it go to the answering machine. They hang up and do not leave a message. I sometimes turn on the fax machine to answer the call in hopes they would give up. Well, they haven't. I agree with others on this list that something needs to be done about this harrassment.

Calls are coming in twice a day for about 3 weeks now -- once in the morning, around 9 a.m. and then once in the afternoon or evening (time varies). No one is ever on the line. TOTALLY ANNOYING!! and we are signed up with the national "Do Not Call" . Also, we receive two calls a day on our fax line as well.

We are calling you for telemarketing purposes. We will call you again when you are available." Huh?? I have had it--they show up constantly on our caller id, and we are on a do not call list.

This company calls people who should not be called on purpose and they do not care. They send you a book to take a look at telling you they include the postage to return it if you don't like it, but that's a lie. and you end up getting stuck with a $40 book.

call was from telemarketing firm looking to renew a magazine subscription

I called this number, i got the toll free # 1-800-931-3765. After the person expl;ained that I recently donated, subscribed etc they were calling to see if I wanted to go this again. I told them, I have not revently subcribed or donated to anyone within the past 6 months and I have never been called by this company until 2 weeks ago. I explained that I was on the do not call list and I was to be removed. And also explained to them that if they were going to call people, for them to leave a message. I told them that this is basically harassmwnr and not to call back.

my called id showed hackensack, NJ and i thought a family member called me (we live in the midsouthwest). when i answered he was looking for mrs. jean H. i am the only mrs. H in the house but my name is not jean. i told him this is the H residence but no jean in here. and he hanged up.

No one was on the phone, and no message was left. I, too, am on the "DO NOT CALL" list and resent any phone solicitors calling my home at anytime. If anyone knows how to stop these unwanted annoyances, please share them on this list.

DIALAMERICA get their 'leads' (your phone numbers) from companies that you have a preexisting business relationship with (any time within the past six months). The 'do not call' list does not apply to these kinds of calls, even though they are the reason that the list was created in the first place. The best way to get these jerks to stop calling you, is to answer the phone and say "REMOVE MY NUMBER FROM YOUR LIST" od "place my name and number on your internal do-not-call list." Legally they have to oblige your request and if they call you again, you can take action.

I have been receiving calls from this number for several weks now...several times a day in fact. Caller ID says "Dial America" they never leave a message and I do not answer (I never answer calls from numbers I do not know) Next time they call though I will answer and see what they say..maybe they will stop finally. I too am on the DNC list.

Wow. These calls are amazingly anoying-these people are sooo persistent. It makes me wonder how they stay in business. I will NEVER buy anything from a telemarketer, but sombody out there must be buying things from them!

Three rings and a hangup. They call 2x a day so far. Now I know the company, so I'll answer and get rid of them. Yes, I am on the do-not-call list, too.

The caller asked for me. I said I was out (as I always do when I don't who the caller is) and asked if I could leave a message. She said it was a bout some gift subscriptions I had ordered and would call back later.

I have recv'd numerous calls morning all hours of the day from "Dial America" and the name Linda Cooper which traces back to Dial America. I am on the DNC list. These callers should be penalized for the DNC violations.

This is a great site. It helped me identify an unkown caller. Also, because of the comments, I am now able to deal with future calls that I might receive.

I love how telemarketers of all stripes can now bypass my call blocking by providing a number but no name. I don't answer the phone, but I'm astounded by all the no-name calls recorded on my ID box!

Caller asked for my two young sons by name, purpose - to tell them about magazine subscriptions.

I called the number back and got a recording saying "dial america" and that they must have been calling about either a magazine subscription or an organization I had previously donated to, such as MADD, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, or Special Olympics, and that they would try back again.

This # calls me every morning for 2 months now, always between 9am and 11am. I finally called the number back and they said they don't know why they are calling me, but speculated it was about renewing a magazine subscription. The company is Dial America. I'm on the do not call list, but if I subscibe to a magazine I believe they are allowed to call. The problem is they don't even know why they call.
