After many recent hang ups from this number I decided to call it back. Received a recording that said it was in regard to a magazine subscription...funny I don't have any currently. The recording listed 1-866-820-3440 as their customer service number and said to call with questions. I called it and a very pleasant lady asked for the phone number I was calling from. I hesitated to give them my number again..but after a promise that she would remove it from their list I complied. She asked how often I received calls and apologized for the inconvenience. She also apologized in advance in case I get anymore calls during the short period it takes for the removal request to go through. Hope this works because the frequent calls are annoying!! Before she hung up she said thank you for calling Special Olympics...weird!!

No one would say anything when I answered.

Calls everyday between 10 AM & 11 AM - never leaves a message, hangs up after the second ring and when I did finally get to talk to someone telling them that I am on the no call list they said who cares and hung up on me. And they still call everyday but Sunday. This crap has to be put to a stop!!

Get this call a couple of times a day. When I answer it, [a couple of times] there is no one on it. Very annoying.

Called at 7:39 and asked for my 15 yr. old son by name. He wasn't home and I responded that he wasn't. After reading other reports, I'm sure they were wanting him to resubscribe to a magazine whose subscription has lapsed.

What a great site! Just got a call from 201-373-8326 and noticed they have been calling for several days so I Googled their number and this site came up with lead me to donotcall.gov. I just filed a complaint, maybe that will help, but at least I know who it is calling.

I received a phone call from #201-373-8326..1/17/2008 about 1:45p....I picked up and they asked for my daughter. I asked to take a message, they said no message. So I called back the # and got "Dial America" answering machine. Telling me that I recently received a phone call from them regarding a renewel of a magazine subscription, that they would call back in a few days. My # in on the no calling list for telemarketers...I guess I have to relist my # on the no calling list again....

This is about the third call I've gotten from these jerks; they never leave a message. I'm on the "don't call" list and would love to see this company get fined.

Was from somebody in Alabama calling on behalf of the Penn State Alum Assoc.

I put a song on the cd player like "fortunate son" by john fogerty. Then turn the volume clear up and put the phone up to it. If they dont like it, to dam bad.

I get about three or four calls a week from this number.

Ask the caller if they'll hold on for a moment. put the phone down and wait 5 minutes, pick it back up see if they're still on the line ( occasionally they will still be there)then ask them to hold on again. Run up they're long distance charge.
Anyway, get creative and have some fun.

Order a call blocking caller ID at interceptorid.com . I love mine - you can block any number or an entire area code yet allow anyone to reach you that may live in that area code . I have all 800 etc numbers blocked and now this number too . Whenever one like this squeaks through I block them - SLASH! These companies live in fear of everyone owning one of these things .Works great !NO , I don't work for them ! Just a happy owner of one .

called 9:20am, about renewing a subscription, I said 'take us off you list' we are on DNC, she says she needs to "verify" of address to do that!, and wants our address! what a joke! I told her to get a real job and hung up. No doubt they will call back all the time now. Called numerous times and left no messages. I've read the comments above and I do understand the exasperation expressed by others concerning this party violating the "Do Not Call List". I have never subscribed to any magazines or newspapers. Nor have I used the services of AOL. I have "Opted Out" on all my credit card accounts, utilities, mortage company, financial institutions, children's schools, doctors, and any one else I do business with. I do NOT fit the criteria some of you choose as the reason to just gracefully accept these unsoliciated telephone calls. They are violating MY "Do Not Call List". It is a big deal to me. This is only one of many "businesses" who make unsolicated calls to my residence. And when I politely ask them to take my telephone number off their calling list and they choose to disregard that request, it's a big deal to me.

Called the customer service number posted here (201-327-0200), and had a pleasant discussion with a rep who apologized for the calls and promised to remove my number from any "dialers" and remove it from their database.

Call comes from Dial America per message when you call it is regarding a magazine subscription renewal. If you have a magazine subscription I guess you can't block it.

Dial America is sleezy. The used to partner with AOL. The pitch was 5 cents a minute and $5 a month. But misc charges in addition to taxes were almost $40. Hang up on Dial America.

"Dial America" on caller ID for me as well ... and I'm on every Do Not Call list known. Well, okay, not the Galactic Do Not Call list. Maybe they were dialing from off-planet.

I agree with Becky's message from 4/5/07. If you've ever subscribed to any magazine, you give legal right to that company to call you; just like with your credit card company. It said that in the rules of the Do Not Call registry: if you do business with companies, they have the right to call you. Either do what Becky suggested and say no to the renewal and ask to be taken off the list, or just ignore the calls and ride it out. I find turning off the ringer on the phone helps for any early morning calls.

They call almost daily...no messages are ever left. My caller I.D. identifies them as Dial America because I block all unknown callers.

I don't think anyone is overreacting here....We have a online phone number (Via AOL) that we give out to companies that we purchase from so that we don't get calls at home....Dial America is actually violating the Do Not Call list, at least in my case.

Called 8:20pm rang 3 times hung up. Answering machine picks up on 4th ring they hung up before it could pick up. Hmmm repeat caller for me, guess they're used to the machine picking up on them.

Really, everyone is over acting here. I would put money on it that every single one of you getting these calls gave your name, address and telephone number when you subscribed to any and every magazine in your house, how else would they be getting names of spouses & family members that the phones are NOT listed to? The DNC list is not going to help you here, since YOU or your family member gave out your phone number for the subscription, so legally they can call you. Take their call, listen to the magazine (that you already subscribe to) price for renewal and tell them you are not interested & please remove your name. They will mark you off as no renewal and move on. Geeshe. Save the real reporting to true telemarketing scums out there that you have NEVER had any buisness with.

Parents have been getting these calls all the time. Dial America is a third party firm that calls when your magazine subscriptions are up. If you gave your phone number when you signed up, the legally have the right to call you - they never take payment information over the phone, they renew your subscription and you get billed like you normally would.
No big deal scam or anything going on here, other than the annoying auto dialer system.

Dial America has been calling my place about every day. I will not accept theor calls. All of our phone numbers are registered with the Do Not Call Registry, so these clowns have no business trying to call. I've started reporting them. They apparently have a large bank of phone numbers because it changes. Pay close attention to the digits. If enough people file complaints with the FTC, the FTC may shut them down. It is very, very easy to file a complaint with the FTC. Go to donotcall.gov and click on File a Complaint. You will need the phone number they called to, the number they called from, the name of the company and the date and time of the call.

Got a call at 9:44am 3/22/07. They hung up when I answered. I reported on the do not call registry site.

Have no idea what this is but am going to "google" and see what comes up. If anyone else is on the Do Not Call List, be sure to report everytime this number calls you. Kepot getting calls, showed on caller id as dial america. they hung up on answering machine. today, 3/14 i answered the call. they seem to have a ploy, where they are renewing magazine subscriptions and saving you money. For a magazine that i havent subscribed to in years. They verify and record your answers and then say the invoice will come in the mail. I dont have any magazine subscritions, havent had any for many years. so theyre renewing nothing. I'm also on the national and state do not call lists. I will be reporting this and when the invoice comes, I'll be doing some more reporting.

Just an update to my previous post, after my threat of charging them with harrassment, they have stopped calling. This is the first time I've gone 4 days with no call from them. So it works. So much for their 5-7 day "policy"

One big reason I love SunRocket VOIP (no, I'm not trying to plug it) is being able to block individual phone numbers coming in. I can go back to the call log and see this number calling over and over and over (9 time in less than 24 hours) and get the satisfaction that my phone doesn't ring and they get a busy signal.

Even though I called the 866 number yesterday and told them never to call again, they called again this afternoon. Called back, told them it will be harrassment if they call again and I was told it takes them "5-7 days" to get my number removed from the system. I asked them what if I called theme very 30 minutes for the next 7 days if they would consider that harrassment and if they would like it. No answer except repeated their "policy". So I am filing with the FCC and my state's attorney generals office. Call these people up and complain as I did and tell them 5-7 days is unacceptable. It is harrassment!

They've been calling almost every day during the daytime. Called 866-820-3440, told them to put my number on their do not call list, to which "Shatika" complied. Then she started to give me a pitch to which I quickly interrupted, saying, "do you understand you are not to call my number ever again?" and she replied "yes" and I just hung up.

called 7:44pm. 4th day straight. I called them back. Was given cust svc # 1-866-820-3440. Called & talked to Sandy Taylor-it is MADD, Leukemia-selling mags for them. I said I was on do not call list. She said they are exempt because of charity. I told them NO MORE CALLS and she said she would put me on their do not call list. Anxious to see what happens.

Sometimes, I suspect all this is a conspiracy enabled by the phone companies, so they can sell us caller ID devices and, call blocking services.

Off and on for a long period of time, I've been getting calls from 201 373-8326 two to three times, perhaps more, a day. I suspect the caller is someone who remembers or has noted that my message recorder picks up after four rings, as lately it rings only two to three times and then stops. So, now, I lift the receiver and just set it back down before they hang up. It's your "dime" dummy. I'll try to make you spend it each time you call here... hee-hee-hee.

I contacted a customer service representative at 800-984-8959 and asked her to take me off thier list. The woman asked if I was on the phone that they kept constantly calling (and hanging up!). I told her it was and she said she'd handle it right away. The suspense is killing me!

I am on the Do Not Call list and this number came up repeatedly in caller ID. I contacted 201-327-0200 and was advised SELF magazine requested they contact me for subscription renewal. I advised they must first check the Do No Call registry and they are in violation of this act. When I told them I would report them to FCC, they told me my number would immediately be removed.

If you want a little fun with all these unwanted groups calling, simply do what I do.
Activist 101/ Lesson 1:
Take the phone number of lets say "Dial America" 201-373-8326 and go online to another groups site like the Dove Foundation.
Locate the form where they ask you to fill out your contact info and fill it out with the other grps phone number/address but a fake name. This works best if you have an actual persons name--creates a better payback. You may not see the satisfaction--but you are wasting the
companies time and operators time and TIME is money. Do this to any unwanted callers number--give the number to anyone and any form the ask for phone numbers. If you file their phone number with a lot of different phone bank groups they get caught in their own cycle.
Once the phone number is in any calling grps system it pretty much stays there and is used again again.

called 01-18-07...did not answer, but i know it is Dial America....just do not answer....very annoying...they call everyday.....

yes, the number is "dial america" --they are just a "sweatshop" in NJ that provides calling services for any company that needs to make calls on their behalf. No matter what the business. Since magazines are usually owned by one large company like for example Time Warner, then they have more then one title to hock. Magazines are all hurting for you to renew so the person may be working off a subscription list provided by Rolling Stone or a People Magazine subscription dept or whatever other title trying to get you to re-up.

Called 4 nights in a row. Never leave a message and long pause on the other end when I answer the phone so I hang up.

Caller ID said "Dial America" called about renewing magazine subscriptions. Their customer support # is 866 820 3440

They never respond when I answer the phone. Call four day in a roll, once a day.

They call at least three times a day, usually when we're at work but it's on the caller ID. I emailed them and told them to stop calling. It's just annoying.

They've calling several times everyday. Called this morning, and DH got very firm and told her not to call ever again and that it's too early. She said it was after 9 am (9:15am on a Saturday morning!). Then they prank call us again, and when we answered, we heard laughter in the background.

How can we file a complaint!

This number has called twice...but no one is there when we answer.

They called us again 6:55pm Jan 9. Caller ID says Dial America again. My husband immediately told them they were violating the Do Not Call Registry (which we've been on for months). They said they had an existing business relationship, which is totally not true.

Was home but didn't answer because I didn't recognize it.

Called on 1-9-07 in the evening, then on 1-10-07 at 11:28 a.m. Said "Dial America" on the I.D. box both times. Number was 201-373-8326. Didn't answer it, figured it was a telemarketer...even though I signed up for the "no call" list! :(

I never recived a call from this number, but it showed up on my phone bill as if i called it!?! I was not home at the time it said that i made the call. I never made any such call. It was apperently only for 1 minute.
The place called is listed as HACKENSACK NJ

Party called repeatedly this week in an attempt to renew an existing subscription ("This Week" Magazine). I guess I won't be renewing that one. :-(

love this site! Saw this number on caller id-no message but after looking over other comments it would make sense that it is to renew magazines. I used to subscribe to many and did not renew.

I called 201-327-0200 snf was polite. I simply said that I didn't necessarily want to vent at the first person I spoke to, but I wanted my phone # removed. I was transfered to ROB and he politely complied. I'll let you know if I continue to get calls.

If the call is auto just pick it up and hit the *****key about 20 times. this makes the machine think its got a bad number and does help stop these calls.

Called 9:38am Pacific, Nov. 29, 2006. Left no message. Caller ID said "Caller Unknown."

This is the 2nd night in a row we received a call from Dial America. They left no message. The first night, 11/27/06, they attempted to call twice, minutes from each other. I'm sure they'll try a 2nd time tonight, as well as tomorrow night. UGH!

The call was an Unknown Name. It turned out that it was just a service calling to renew my Woman's Day magazine. They didn't ask for any payment information or anything they said the invoice would come in the mail. I think it's legit.

I wasn't home, but my wife answerered the phone at 7:54pm CST on Nov 16, 2006 and a guy named Jonathan said he was from Official Xbox Magazine and wanted to talk to me. He wouldn't say why, so she gave him another number to reach me, but he never called. I used to have a subscription for OXM. I just assumed he wanted me to renew my subscription, but it also could have been for winning a prize or sweepstakes. Dunno.
