One remembers that men's life is not very cheap, however different people need money for various stuff and not every man gets enough money. So to receive quick mortgage loans or just financial loan will be a right way out.

I got the same call from "federal student education loan" wanting personal info. I was alarmed when he asked if " I was young and what I was majoring in". I asked why he needed this info and he hung up. Be aware they have also tried asking my mother and father information but also hung up pn them when they questioned him. --very aggervating.

There are several ways in which companies get your name and info. One of the biggest ways is through other lead generating companies who usually get their info from the credit bureaus who sell your information to them. I know this is common in the mortgage industry. All a company has to do is contact one of the credit bureaus and ask for criteria such as your name, address, phone number and approximately how much in student loan debt you have. Being as how scholastic funding group is mentioned as a client of Teremedia (above Post) I assume they purchase their information from this group and this group in turn collects information probably from sources such as the bureaus and possibly from Kaplin and other sources. I think your best bet is to call up teramedia and request to get off of their marketing list. They are the ones selling these people your information and I assume if we bug the source enough, they may quit selling leads to companies who abuse telemarketing calling practices.

I also received a call from an asian-sounding woman from the Scholastic something corp. She said she was with the federal department of education and that, being that I'm a college student (I made the mistake of telling her) am qualified to get reduced rates on my loans. She verified my address, name, and home number and needed my federal loan account number which she said is the same as my social security number to finalize the transaction. I was uncomfortable with giving my ss# but she reassured me that this message was recorded by the department of education and that we both would be transferred to them. I still wasn't comfortable but she kept insisting that it was legit. I asked her for a number and name so that I could call her back. She gave me the number (201) 266-0092, when asked for a name, said a name real quick that sounded like Cair (rhymes with air), said she'll try back tomorrow, and hung up real quick before i could say anything. I too have taken kaplan related exams for a teaching credential (the cbest and cset). Maybe that's how that received my info. BASTARDS! STOP.. PLEASE!

Lets start placing their 866 number on various lead sites where they will be called numerous times a day. If you see any of these mortgage websitesor any other lead that asks for a number, put theirs in it.

Try calling 866-362-5659 and ask for the supervisor. Then state that you want removed from their call list and that each time they call get the name of the person making the call and their supervisors name then call the above listed number to report what has happened - this company is owned by Kaplan (ACT, SAT) testing services.

The Scholarship funding group is a fraudulent company and my experience is not even worth mentioning. Please donot give anything about yourself . Best of luck.

I have been called on saturday afternoon by some Asian woman, I told her to call back later.I have been recieving lots of phone calls like this since 3 months before graduated. Im sick of it it. these assholes keep calling at all times of the day and night... i graduated 11 yrs ago and have no loans yet when i tell them this, they argue with me. i asked for proof and they hung up BUT called back the next day. i spoke with james who is very arrogant and told me if i cant pay my debts then i should not have gotten into them. So I just recieved a call from these guys. At first they seemed legit, had all of my info and I (sadly and embarassingly enough) did give my SS# out (after much haggling with what sounded like an oriental woman). She put me on hold to talk to a loan supervisor, and I was disconnected. So I looked it up here and saw all the talk of this being a scam! is there anything I can do now that they have my ss#?!

They have been calling me almost every day between 8 and 9:30 p.m. for a few months now- if I don't answer they call back every 5-10 minutes until 9:30 - sometimes when I answer they hang up - other times they keep trying to give me options for a student loan I do not or have ever had - I have told them to quit calling me - I'm thinking of filing some kind of a harrassment complaint to the phone company to keep them from calling me! They have called my house several times the lady said she needed my ss# to see if I qualify for a reduction in my student loan payment I told her I don't give out my ss#. She was very persistent, I told her I was not interested,and I hung up, she kept calling back but I did not answer, they are a fraud trying to get peoples ss# to steal your identity.

They've been calling for a few weeks now, I haven't answered because I didn't recognize but they call no less than 4 times a day so today I answered to ask to be removed from their call list. They offer to reduce student loans, they ask for SS#, don't give it to them, they won't let it drop. I must have asked no less than 7 or 8 times to be removed from their list but she kept pushing. Finally my husband took the phone and asked to talk to a supervisor. He had to ask 3 or 4 times because she started her bit on him and he kept asking for a supe and she ended up hanging up on him. We called the number back and it goes to a "this mailbox is full" message.

I have been receiving calls from this alleged Scholastic Funding Group from the bogus number 201 266 0092. They will not give me a number, address only a bogus website as a reference to their business. I reported them to the AZ Attorney General's office. I urge everyone to do the same.

I dont know where they have my name from but these people knew all my info! and I kept telling him to mail me out the info he said I had to give him refrences for him to mail me out info how stupid does he think I am I hung up on him.

They have been calling twice a day. Usually between 8-9am and 4-6 pm.

Thanks for posting all these msgs. I just started recieving calls from this number too, and before I answered, I googled it and found out that I'm about be unwillingly thrust into a world of annoyance. I also completed a Kaplan LSAT course! Apparantly they didn't feel like they had ripped me off enough with their b@l1sh1t course, they also sold my personal info. Go fig.
I think I have a solution. I prupose that everyone take a dump in plastic bag, put it in a box and then mail it to Kaplan headquarters. Don't use your own name or address or anything. Use your local waste management's or be creative with it. And if you can't bring yourself to use your own feces, I suggest using your dogs' or cats' at least. We'll call the campaign "Kraplan" It's about time we fought back. Who's with me?

I recieved 2 calls late at night and when I returned the call the female said she never called my number.

They keep calling me and hanging up. One time they called me and said it was "an important matter" as if they were attempting to collect a debt.

There's a scam going around - they're not Kaplan or test prep or Scholastic anything - they're just trying to steal people's credit card info. You guys should try contacting the Kaplan person who posted here and report the people who are trying to scam you!

I have received several calls from this number in Englewood, NJ in which they would just hang up after I answered. Today on a Saturday early evening I received yet another call from this number. I answer and they asked for my husband. We have no idea what this is about or who these people are and they said my husband had a student loan and needed some information. I hang up and decided to check out this number. I called back only to either get a busy signal or it would ring constantly. NO ANSWER! I find out about all the reports on this SCAM number. Is this being taken care of? Why is this still going on?

The problem is this: I don't know if there are any legal avenues that we can pursue. They haven't threatened us--just driven us to the brink of insanity. Are you guys on the do not call list? If so, have the calls continued? Does anyone know what the FCC can do? I don't necessarily want to go the lawsuit route because there's a large chance we won't win and also there's a slim chance a lawyer would do this on contingency. I am definitely never going to refer anyone to Kaplan. If you haven't done so already, get on the do not call list and file a complaint with the FCC.

They called me today at 8:13 pm and earlier today and also yesterday. I answer everytime they call but they never say hello or anything.

they ended up calling me more than 10 times in one day from 8am to 9pm. the last time they called i told them off and threatened to call the police if they called again. it's been almost two weeks with no call.

Okay, they've called me about 100 times (they being the evil fraudsters at 201-266-0965. Often late at night. They'll do anything to keep YOU quiet and compliant as they hussle you toward a BOGUS deal.
I asked for a number a return number - they gave me 888-633-5237 (they got SUPER nervous when I started demanding info), then I demanded the name of a Supervisor. She said her name is Donna Martin (though she may have said "Sonya") and that her supervisor's name is Kenneth Barker of the Scholastic Funding Group. If you visit their website scholasticfundinggroup.com you will see there is NO contact/company info beyond an additional 888 number (which probably just traces your phone info into their data bank). If anyone reading this deals with information policy/fraudulent lending, please, please, please look into this. One additional thing I'd love to know: how are they acquiring our academic status? Our buddy "Donna" knew I was a grad student. I shall be quite pissed if I find out my viable loan companies is rendering my contact information to these charlatans.

After my complaints to Scholastic, etc, I no longer get calls from 201-266-0965 but now today I started getting calls from 000-000-0000. IN the same annoying manner, over and over and when you answer, no one is there. I got 1 person who answered, sounded Filipino, and I've apparently "won" a shopping spree, if I just proivde the 1st 12 digits of my credit card #. She had the last four digits, god knows how. I dont know if this is related to Scholastic or not, could be an entirely different ring of thieves.

OMG, they call at weird time in the morning and at night. They said they are some student loans company. And go on saying interest rate going up, what not. I told them they can mail me the information, and they said they will. But before they do, they have to transfer me to another representative because he/she will tell me about some info. Found this site about them when I did a reverse phone lookup. Halfway through reading your posts. This time I answered the phone and spoke with some guy (thick accent)who wanted to speak to my husband about his student loan. B/c of all of the comments from you guys, I allowed him to read his script. When I ask him to give me the balance of my husband's account he said that after getting info from me, he would turn me over to a loan specialist who would have the balance. I kept questioning him about things I knew wouldn't be in the script and he told me that he would let me speak to his supervisor Miguel Rodriguez. After having some fun with him, I told him that his company had called my number many times and had not left a message and that I considered it harrassment. He got upset and told me that they had not called me before. I told him that I was taping the conversation and that I had just gone to a website about Scholastic Funding Group with many people complaining about the harassing phone calls and that if he called my number again, I would consider it harassment since my husband doesn't even have a student loan and report them to my and their State Attorney General's Office. I firmly repeated myself and said, "Are we clear?" He said yes and hung up the phone. So far, I haven't heard anything from them. I guess we'll see tomorrow if I get another call from them! BTW, my husband is not registered with anyone who would have given this company any info and has never taken a kaplan course. Wonder Mom

Just took Gotham's advice after reading all of the aforementioned complaints. Here's what I did:

1) Filed online complaint with the NJ BBB

2) Filed online complaint with the FTC

3) Emailed the NY FBI office at newyork@fbi.gov.

They called in the evenings and in the morning without leaving a message. They called my mobile. Thought I put my mobile number on the DoNotCall registry, so they are breaking the law?

i think i just got royally screwed. i get a call from this number and the first lady i talked to sounded filipino. she said something about consolidating student loans and that she had info about it. i wasn't sure if i had any outstanding loans (my finances were being taken care of by my parents and i recently graduated from college), so i went with it. eventually i got transfered to another lady and she said the same thing about loan consolidation. i told her i know nothing about my loans or if i even have any so she said that she could look up my info using my ss#. unfortunately i was preoccupied with doing something else and didn't even think twice to give it. she said something about not being able to find any info and suggested that it was under my parents' ss. at this point i started becoming skeptical so i didn't give any more info (very lucky i didn't). i said something like can we just call you back and she gave the following number: 866 362 3492 ext 113. i called that number and it was some random guy's answering machine. i don't even think the ext did anything. right after i got off the phone i thought to myself, "oh sh!t. what did i just do." so i get home and look up ss/identity fraud stuff/any info on this number. after reading a little bit i immediately contacted equifax and placed a fraud alert. seems like i'm the only idiot who actually gave them info. hope this doesn't screw me over for the rest of my life.

So they called a 2nd time and I picked up... It was a delayed pick up like from a telemarketing agency.. I spoke with some woman who did not identify herself and she could have been in another country. She told me I had outstanding loans... and I said OK... (I have no loans whatsoever)...she then told me to hang on for 50 seconds.. Then I was connected to a smooth talking salesman telling me that they would consolidate my loans or something and get me the best rates and that my account number would be my 9 digit SS#. And then they asked me for my account number. I told the man that i didn't have any outstanding loans and that I thought they were a fraud and that I had gotten wind of this fraud online. The man was very calm in telling me that my number was given to them because I had recently taken a test.. Perhaps the MCATs sold my info?

Called us twice, once on 02-05-2007 at 9:30p and another 02-06-2007 right around the same time. Can't speak English, this HAS to be a scam. Talked about consolidating student loans and asking why I didn't yet. Don't give these people ANY INFORMATION. Also took the KAPLAN course. So either Kaplan sold the info or hackers breeched their data to setup this scam.

Called my cell 5 times in one day while I was at work. Caller "understood" I had current student loans, which I never have. My number is only listed on my Facebook page and privately contained at LSAC.org.

This eighth time I picked up and a woman with an accent spoke to me. She knew my name. I asked for the Woman's name - she said it was Maria Matt. I asked her to spell it and she spelled it M-A-T-T. She said she had information on my federally qualified loan and that she had information to reduce my monthly payment. I told her I didn't have a federally qualified loan!

I also told her that I reported their business to the Better Business Bureau. She said she respected that. I said oh yeah, I am also going to report you to the FBI and the police and you and your scam business are in trouble. She hung up.

Yah I went to Kaplan like a year ago. Call 866-362-5659. They will ask for your phone number. and put you on there do not call list.

They called me yesterday at 7:41 pm and today at 8:26 am,8:49 am, 9:18 am, 9:45 am, and 10:30 am. GEESH!

I took a Kaplan class and recently took the GMAT so I think there's a connection there.

these mofos called saying i have student loans-which i dont. wanted my social and when i was on the phone with them i could hear kids screaming. this is a Scam and thank god i figured it out before giving my social. I did a reverse search on the number and this site came up.

I finally talked to someone helpful at scholastic funding group. Apparently they have outsourced their telemarketing to an overseas call center whose dialing system is having technical problems and recalling the same numbers over and over. If you call the 1-800 number on their website you can get on their do not call list. It took about 2 days for the calls to stop but they have finally stopped. The website is in one of the comments above. The sooner you call them, the sooner it will stop. I just took the GMAT and a Kaplan review course and I'm guessing they sold my number. Bastards....

After calling me nonstop last week, I finally picked up on Friday afternoon and told them they had the wrong number. Haven't heard from them since. Hopefully it's not just the weekend and that they have removed me from their list for good.

I have 8 missed calls from these people. When I picked up on the 9th call, it was a man with a Filipino accent (very strong to not miss) asking me if I had student loans and tried to convince me that I did. Also tried to find out about any scholarships I may have.

I am pretty sure LSAC.org F*cked me as well. That is the only place I've given info out on the net in the past 2 years.

3) Filed online complaint with NY BBB (where I live)

4) Called the NY FBI office 212.384.1000 and sent them an email at newyork@fbi.gov.

I like the obvious trolls posting on this board who work for Scholastic like Enzo. And the other guy telling us to pay up our loans. Even as identity theft scams go, this one is really lame. Id love to meet the braniacs behind the idea.

One look at their website and you know it's a front. If I click through like I am going to actually apply to consolidate loans, my browser alerts me not to, because of being re-routed to another unsecure website, etc. Shady operation, likely run by some poor losers trying to make a quick buck off of suckers.

I also talked to the FBI and they said the agency who investigates identity theft is the Federal Trade Commission, and so I filed a complaint with them. DO that here: rn.ftc.gov

Everyone really needs to stop posting ads saying when and how many times they called you. We all need to contact the Federal Communications COmmission, Federal Bureau of Investigation, NJ Attorney General's Office to get to the bottom of it. This number called me 6 times today on my cell phone!! I answered the 5th time and some guy with an accent asked me about my college bills, of which, I have none. When I told him this, he hung up on me. Then called back 3 more times! This is harrassment.

Called me starting jan 30th every hour until I finially picked up. Something about student loans and when I told the person I was not interested the person was very rude, nasty and persistant in trying to obtain my personal info. After hanging up...they continued to call my cell every 10 mins and has been ongoing for three days now!!!!! This is ridiculous!!!

They have called me 10 times in less than 24 hrs. They called early in the morning and late at night. Every time except the last they hung up. I tried to call back several times and either got a busy signal or the phoone rang and rang. This last time they called I got a person, she knew my full name, spoke very poor english and wanted to talk about my college loans, i told them i didn't have any and then they ask me if i had a stadford loan, which i also don't have. They identified themselves as from the scolastic funding company. i told them never to call me again.

If you use Google Earth and look up the Teaneck address, it just looks like a warehouse not a regular office building.

definitely not legit. Why would they hound you if they're legit? Plus why is land line routing calls from Asia? Why is phone in Englewood, NJ when business is at Teaneck, NJ? Legit companies will obey the no-call registry law that is in effect. They obviously don't. Don't give them any info.

if you google "scholastic funding group, llc" careerbuilder.com pops up. They might have sold info to them. Plus it's only been a company since 2006, BBB does not have a record on them. Also, I'm really close to finding the owner of the business... Their address is in a office building. I'll bet that it's a call/mail forwarding center. Where you pay a monthly fee and they take messages and mail for you. I'm going to track the fucker down! Then maybe you guys can call him at all hours of the night.

I understand that, and I believe you might have put it on a form. I don't know... maybe a resume or something. They can search those too, you know. Any way to get in contact with the person on the phone and try to rip them off.

The thing that confuses me is that they are calling my CELL, and I don't put my cell number on any official forms.

Annoyed, listen... I think their whole operation is a scam out to get private information from people on the call list. It does not cost a lot to start an LLC. $150-200 That pretty much shield them from any lawsuits. You need a LLC or Inc. to start a business. After the LLC was obtained, they bought lists off of different groups. I suspect the LSAC because they were the only one I gave my number to. They might have bought the list off other institutions. They also set up a website, but there's no "contact us" info anywhere. I had to dig for their address. If you are on their website and you have firefox, and you click apply now. A warning will pop up saying that someone is probably monitoring your information. So I deduce that they are out to get your information from you. Most likely a fly by night operation. They have calls routed through a land line from another country to cut down on cost. Definitely do not volunteer any information. Tell them to go fuck their mothers.

I got a call from my bank a few days ago saying that my account number showed up on a list of possibly compromised identities...i wonder if this is connected

A credit report just lets you see if anyone has been using your identity. I'm wondering if the fact that these guys have our names and # mean that our identity info has already been compromised.

But then again, if they have the info they need to do illegal stuff with our identity, then why call us trying to get our SS and credit card numbers? So I don't know whether I should be worried or not.

IF you actually get to talk to someone, it'll be a woman from the Phillipines or somewhere with horrible English--who is clearly reading from a script. They called me five times today. Did not leave any messages. When I called back I get a busy number but if this is about loans I dont have any at all. I think this is a scam. Do not give out any of your information!

They just called me for the fourth time and I was finally able to answer. They said they were a company that could help me consolidate student loans. Thing is, I don't have any, not a one; I went to a service academy. I let the lady do her schtik where she asked me for my name, social, and credit card number. This is a scam for ID theft. That's my verdict.

They called me six times but i wasnt able to answer. On the 7th time, i got the chance to answer and they seem pretty nice. They asked me if i have student loans. If you give them time to listen, you will find them real courteous.

Said the companies name was Scholastic Funding Group. I asked her for the Corporate Phone number she gave me (886)633-5237. Called that number to find that its not a working number. My Advice is to google the Scholastic Funding Group for it is an actual company dealing with student loans. Contact information is available on the website. If you feel your identity is in jeopardy call and ask them to check their records to see if they have contacted you recently. Always Remember not to ever give your social security number out over the phone!

They just called me and I answered (after missing 2 of their previous calls). They also told me I had outstanding student loans with the Scholastic Funding Group. When I asked who I was speaking to, the lady said "Sharo Echo Tango". I reported to do not call, but is there anywhere else we can report these calls to shut them down?

I received a call from this number last night at 9:28pm CST and again this afternoon at 12:16pm CST. I looked up the number on Whitepages.com, but the information was unlisted. Does anyone have any information on this?

They have called twice this morning, once while I was already on the phone. The "beeping in" of the call waiting for this number did not sound like any other, oddly enough, and would randomly beep and then give me a dial tone, making it difficult for me to understand the person I was talking to begin with.
