I got the same call from "federal student education loan" wanting personal info. I was alarmed when he asked if " I was young and what I was majoring in". I asked why he needed this info and he hung up. Be aware they have also tried asking my mother and father information but also hung up pn them when they questioned him. --very aggervating.

PHN-
There are several ways in which companies get your name and info. One of the biggest ways is through other lead generating companies who usually get their info from the credit bureaus who sell your information to them. I know this is common in the mortgage industry. All a company has to do is contact one of the credit bureaus and ask for criteria such as your name, address, phone number and approximately how much in student loan debt you have. Being as how scholastic funding group is mentioned as a client of Teremedia (above Post) I assume they purchase their information from this group and this group in turn collects information probably from sources such as the bureaus and possibly from Kaplin and other sources. I think your best bet is to call up teramedia and request to get off of their marketing list. They are the ones selling these people your information and I assume if we bug the source enough, they may quit selling leads to companies who abuse telemarketing calling practices.

I also received a call from an asian-sounding woman from the Scholastic something corp. She said she was with the federal department of education and that, being that I'm a college student (I made the mistake of telling her) am qualified to get reduced rates on my loans. She verified my address, name, and home number and needed my federal loan account number which she said is the same as my social security number to finalize the transaction. I was uncomfortable with giving my ss# but she reassured me that this message was recorded by the department of education and that we both would be transferred to them. I still wasn't comfortable but she kept insisting that it was legit. I asked her for a number and name so that I could call her back. She gave me the number (201) 266-0092, when asked for a name, said a name real quick that sounded like Cair (rhymes with air), said she'll try back tomorrow, and hung up real quick before i could say anything. I too have taken kaplan related exams for a teaching credential (the cbest and cset). Maybe that's how that received my info. BASTARDS! STOP.. PLEASE!

companies like this purchase leads from other companies who do their research and get your information. Here is the phone and fax number to teramedia as well as an email address. I say we cut them off at the source.

One more thing, While I can only guess, being as how this guy registered their website and seems to be part of a lead generation company that sells data for people with student loans, it may be worth checking out. lists.teramedia.com

Lets start placing their 866 number on various lead sites where they will be called numerous times a day. If you see any of these mortgage websitesor any other lead that asks for a number, put theirs in it.

2007-07-09 18:26:55 UTCanonymous

Try calling 866-362-5659 and ask for the supervisor. Then state that you want removed from their call list and that each time they call get the name of the person making the call and their supervisors name then call the above listed number to report what has happened - this company is owned by Kaplan (ACT, SAT) testing services.

2007-06-28 15:25:50 UTCkris krishnan

The Scholarship funding group is a fraudulent company and my experience is not even worth mentioning. Please donot give anything about yourself . Best of luck.

I have been called on saturday afternoon by some Asian woman, I told her to call back later.I have been recieving lots of phone calls like this since 3 months before graduated. Im sick of it it. THey called again this morning at 7:30. Thanks to everyone on this site. I have had so many calls about consoldating my student loans I do not know what to believe anymore. Put my number on the no-call list this morning. Leave my fucking cell phone alone.

2007-06-01 23:51:23 UTCHate Phones

these assholes keep calling at all times of the day and night... i graduated 11 yrs ago and have no loans yet when i tell them this, they argue with me. i asked for proof and they hung up BUT called back the next day. i spoke with james who is very arrogant and told me if i cant pay my debts then i should not have gotten into them. I HAVE NO DEBTS AND WHO DOES HE THINK HE IS!!! HE ASKED IF I WAS SINGLE AND MAYBE I NEED A MAN TO TAKE CARE OF ME!!!! I HAVE SOOOOOOOOOO HAD IT

2007-05-31 19:59:35 UTCannoyed

i spoke with some guy named James and asked him to take me off their list and he HAD THE NERVE TO ASK ME IF I WAS SINGLE CAUSED I SOUNDED ATTRACTIVE!!!! THEY CALL EVERY DAY AT ALL HOURS NOW THIS!!!! I HAVE REPORTED THEM TO EVERY FRAUD COMPANY

2007-05-10 03:21:10 UTCKeith

5x in 3 weeks asking for someone I've never heard of. I've spoken 3x to their sup but even 1 sup asked "Do I have a girlfriend?" The people at 866-362-5659 sound sympathetic, but we'll see if their DO NOT CALL list works. The NJ BBB says they have an "unsatisfactory record":
trenton.bbb.org

2007-05-09 21:28:50 UTCSonny

So I just recieved a call from these guys. At first they seemed legit, had all of my info and I (sadly and embarassingly enough) did give my SS# out (after much haggling with what sounded like an oriental woman). She put me on hold to talk to a loan supervisor, and I was disconnected. So I looked it up here and saw all the talk of this being a scam! is there anything I can do now that they have my ss#?!

2007-05-08 16:18:24 UTCNoreen

They have been calling me almost every day between 8 and 9:30 p.m. for a few months now- if I don't answer they call back every 5-10 minutes until 9:30 - sometimes when I answer they hang up - other times they keep trying to give me options for a student loan I do not or have ever had - I have told them to quit calling me - I'm thinking of filing some kind of a harrassment complaint to the phone company to keep them from calling me! What's the deal????

2007-05-08 02:20:41 UTCS

This is the number for Scholastic Student Loans...they have been calling me for six months non stop

2007-05-07 19:44:51 UTCHannah

They have been calling atleast 4 or 5 times a day leaving no message and when I do answer and ask them not to call back they have not listened. A woman named Jilly from Scholastic Funding Group just called and I told her never to call me back again. I hope to God they stop calling!

2007-05-05 15:26:46 UTCElizabeth

They have called my house several times the lady said she needed my ss# to see if I qualify for a reduction in my student loan payment I told her I don't give out my ss#. She was very persistent, I told her I was not interested, and I hung up, she kept calling back but I did not answer, they are a fraud trying to get peoples ss# to steal your identity.

2007-05-04 21:12:54 UTCJasmine

They've been calling for a few weeks now, I haven't answered because I didn't recognize but they call no less than 4 times a day so today I answered to ask to be removed from their call list. They offer to reduce student loans, they ask for SS#, don't give it to them, they won't let it drop. I must have asked no less than 7 or 8 times to be removed from their list but she kept pushing. Finally my husband took the phone and asked to talk to a supervisor. He had to ask 3 or 4 times because she started her bit on him and he kept asking for a supe and she ended up hanging up on him. We called the number back and it goes to a "this mailbox is full" message.

2007-04-28 07:21:53 UTCmichelle

Who is the dumbass that believed that calling this fraudulant company and request they remove my number from their call list is "problem solved"? oh yeah some dumbass named p Dizzle or p diddy or diddy p dumbass

2007-04-28 06:24:23 UTCMichele

I have been receiving calls from this alleged Scholastic Funding Group from the bogus number 201 266 0092. They will not give me a number, address only a bogus website as a reference to their business. I reported them to the AZ Attorney General's office. I urge everyone to do the same.

2007-04-07 18:27:53 UTCcrystal

I dont know where they have my name from but these people knew all my info! and I kept telling him to mail me out the info he said I had to give him refrences for him to mail me out info how stupid does he think I am I hung up on him.

2007-02-27 09:35:31 UTCPete

They have been calling twice a day. Usually between 8-9am and 4-6 pm.

2007-02-23 13:40:26 UTCStacey

They have been calling me for the past 2 weeks. I have not answered the calls. I just got feed up with it and tried calling it back only to get a busy signal. It is a real pain in the A@#.

2007-02-23 12:26:33 UTCclarissa

They called me 5 times in a row at least 20 minutes in between each call. This has benn going on for about 4 days now. I call back but the line is always busy. Who are you people?

2007-02-23 12:25:14 UTCTerese Lutgen

I have received two calls back to back without a voice message. I just received my first of the day. I am on the national do not call registry, yet this still occurs. Not to mention, I pay for incoming calls to my cell phone. Sarcastic Thanks, Kaplan.

2007-02-23 03:42:14 UTCno kaplan

the funny thing is i didn't have anything to do with kaplan and they have my number some how. there has to be some other leak some where.

2007-02-22 18:52:14 UTCJon

Thanks for posting all these msgs. I just started recieving calls from this number too, and before I answered, I googled it and found out that I'm about be unwillingly thrust into a world of annoyance. I also completed a Kaplan LSAT course! Apparantly they didn't feel like they had ripped me off enough with their b@l1sh1t course, they also sold my personal info. Go fig.
I think I have a solution. I prupose that everyone take a dump in plastic bag, put it in a box and then mail it to Kaplan headquarters. Don't use your own name or address or anything. Use your local waste management's or be creative with it. And if you can't bring yourself to use your own feces, I suggest using your dogs' or cats' at least. We'll call the campaign "Kraplan" It's about time we fought back. Who's with me?

2007-02-22 17:29:31 UTCRoberto

I recieved 2 calls late at night and when I returned the call the female said she never called my number.

2007-02-22 16:14:47 UTCKatrina

They keep calling me and hanging up. One time they called me and said it was "an important matter" as if they were attempting to collect a debt.

2007-02-22 13:54:39 UTCJinny

There's a scam going around - they're not Kaplan or test prep or Scholastic anything - they're just trying to steal people's credit card info. You guys should try contacting the Kaplan person who posted here and report the people who are trying to scam you!

2007-02-22 08:04:24 UTCflyty

you new ppl at the end of the list need to scroll up and read about the callers, how to stop them, how to file complaints against them, and how kaplan whored out your info to scammers.

2007-02-22 01:07:00 UTCAtom

I get two calls a day. 15 minutes apart most of the time. i've called the number back and it's either busy or just keeps ringing. It is driving me crazy.

2007-02-21 14:46:49 UTCKrista

Called at numerous time asking for personal info regarding student loans. Report these shady people! Asked them to remove me from their calling list.

2007-02-17 16:00:13 UTCRH

I have received several calls from this number in Englewood, NJ in which they would just hang up after I answered. Today on a Saturday early evening I received yet another call from this number. I answer and they asked for my husband. We have no idea what this is about or who these people are and they said my husband had a student loan and needed some information. I hang up and decided to check out this number. I called back only to either get a busy signal or it would ring constantly. NO ANSWER! I find out about all the reports on this SCAM number. Is this being taken care of? Why is this still going on?

2007-02-17 15:32:35 UTCMM

They have already called me 3 times today and when I try to call them back they won't pick up.

2007-02-16 12:28:56 UTCMark

Hi, I am Mark Freidberg, VP of operations for Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions. Thanks to those of you who have brought this problem to our attention. From reading some of these postings, I can certainly see why people are so annoyed. We are doing everything we can to get to the bottom of this and have taken steps to make sure that no one is improperly accessing or using our students’ info. I don’t know if these callers have gotten your numbers from Kaplan, but I want you all to know that we are looking into this and will do everything we can to stop them. If you have additional information on this or further concerns, please email me directly at MHFreidberg@kaplan.com.

2007-02-16 00:16:19 UTCAM

They call and hang up. I call back and its a busy signal. Who the heck are they?

2007-02-15 15:58:29 UTCbillybob

I'm just so irritated about this--we need to do something. All of you do some homework and let's find out if Kaplan violated their privacy statement. Also, if you know attorneys, find out if this can be qualified as harassment.

2007-02-15 15:31:38 UTCbillybob

jhu.edu

uh oh

2007-02-15 14:18:18 UTCbillybobjohnny

The problem is this: I don't know if there are any legal avenues that we can pursue. They haven't threatened us--just driven us to the brink of insanity. Are you guys on the do not call list? If so, have the calls continued? Does anyone know what the FCC can do? I don't necessarily want to go the lawsuit route because there's a large chance we won't win and also there's a slim chance a lawyer would do this on contingency. I am definitely never going to refer anyone to Kaplan. If you haven't done so already, get on the do not call list and file a complaint with the FCC.

2007-02-15 13:37:34 UTCDonald

Hey, I am down for a lawsuit if it is possible. Hell we may own Kaplan by the time it is over!

2007-02-14 23:54:18 UTCWes

They called me today at 8:13 pm and earlier today and also yesterday. I answer everytime they call but they never say hello or anything.

2007-02-14 23:49:38 UTCjena

they ended up calling me more than 10 times in one day from 8am to 9pm. the last time they called i told them off and threatened to call the police if they called again. it's been almost two weeks with no call.

2007-02-14 17:06:38 UTCBillybobjohnny

Anybody up for a class-action lawsuit? Is that even possible? They call 1000 times and hang up. I finally got a hold of some outsourced cold caller that immediately told me not to hang up and put me on hold. I was told I would be taken off their list by Doug, and the calls continued for another two weeks. A month passed. Now the calls have started again. I talked with Terrance, who assured me I would be taken off their list. I have received even more calls since then. I filed a complaint with the FCC. During my filing of a complaint I received a call. Now I'm here. Holy crap make it stop.

2007-02-14 16:30:07 UTCAsaf

They called me about student loans and a 5-6 times called and hanged up!

2007-02-14 16:13:52 UTCmm

They have called me about 10 times today and wont stop. I keep getting a busy signal when i call back.

2007-02-14 14:03:54 UTCDaniel

They called me twice in the past hour today on my cell phone, hanging up both times. I saved their number and set the ring tone to silent so even if they do call again, it won't bother me. Bunch of Jerks.

2007-02-14 13:37:23 UTCmarie

I took Kaplan also. These people have been calling 7-8 times per day.I answered the 2nd time and asked the guy to take mt name off the list. He was very rude and hung up. My mission now is to get this group.

Okay, they've called me about 100 times (they being the evil fraudsters at 201-266-0965. Often late at night. They'll do anything to keep YOU quiet and compliant as they hussle you toward a BOGUS deal.
I asked for a number a return number - they gave me 888-633-5237 (they got SUPER nervous when I started demanding info), then I demanded the name of a Supervisor. She said her name is Donna Martin (though she may have said "Sonya") and that her supervisor's name is Kenneth Barker of the Scholastic Funding Group. If you visit their website scholasticfundinggroup.com you will see there is NO contact/company info beyond an additional 888 number (which probably just traces your phone info into their data bank). If anyone reading this deals with information policy/fraudulent lending, please, please, please look into this. One additional thing I'd love to know: how are they acquiring our academic status? Our buddy "Donna" knew I was a grad student. I shall be quite pissed if I find out my viable loan companies is rendering my contact information to these charlatans.

After my complaints to Scholastic, etc, I no longer get calls from 201-266-0965 but now today I started getting calls from 000-000-0000. IN the same annoying manner, over and over and when you answer, no one is there. I got 1 person who answered, sounded Filipino, and I've apparently "won" a shopping spree, if I just proivde the 1st 12 digits of my credit card #. She had the last four digits, god knows how. I dont know if this is related to Scholastic or not, could be an entirely different ring of thieves.

2007-02-12 16:17:48 UTCcp

They called my cell phone, then hung up when I answered which cost me minutes.

2007-02-12 02:17:01 UTCdj

called me on feb 9th too. repeatedly, and when i call back it's busy.

2007-02-11 12:06:22 UTCIsaac

I also received many calls from this company. After stupidly giving them my SS#, I called back and told them to cancel everything. I have filed a complaint with the New Jersey BBB. I also recently completed a Kaplan LSAT course.

2007-02-10 17:36:58 UTCMd

Hmmm...I was with Kaplan for MCAT course too.

2007-02-09 21:17:54 UTCBilly

I keep getting calls from this number as well. I answer and no one is there. I also took the KAPLAN LSAT course. Sounds like KAPLAN is the common thread.

2007-02-09 19:26:36 UTCJohn

They've called several times. They hung up, the number is always busy when you call. They've asked for student loans. I would love to know who they are. There is definately something shady about them.

2007-02-09 19:24:52 UTCMandy

OMG, they call at weird time in the morning and at night. They said they are some student loans company. And go on saying interest rate going up, what not. I told them they can mail me the information, and they said they will. But before they do, they have to transfer me to another representative because he/she will tell me about some info. What the heck!!! Student loan people would definitely not call you at like 9:30pm at night. I don't even have my cell number listed on the loan forms. They are so annoying, they called me at least 10 times w/in the last 3 days already.

2007-02-09 19:21:41 UTCAlex

whoever this is, s/he (they) deserve to be killed in an exquisitely painful and demeaning manner. called me twice 08 Feb 2007, called me 5 times 09 Feb 2007, expect that number to rise. from what i've gathered with 5 minutes of searching, it's probably some idiot or group thereof making poor attempts at scamming people with access to phones out of personal information. somebody should call a government agency that has the power to do something.

2007-02-09 16:31:32 UTCMegan

This number has called me 10 times. Yes, I said it 10 times of hang ups not including the 5 times I picked up the phone. I've called back to hear a busy signal. At this point I'm considering this harrassment.

2007-02-09 15:43:45 UTCJohn

Found this site about them when I did a reverse phone lookup. Halfway through reading your posts. This time I answered the phone and spoke with some guy (thick accent)who wanted to speak to my husband about his student loan. B/c of all of the comments from you guys, I allowed him to read his script. When I ask him to give me the balance of my husband's account he said that after getting info from me, he would turn me over to a loan specialist who would have the balance. I kept questioning him about things I knew wouldn't be in the script and he told me that he would let me speak to his supervisor Miguel Rodriguez. After having some fun with him, I told him that his company had called my number many times and had not left a message and that I considered it harrassment. He got upset and told me that they had not called me before. I told him that I was taping the conversation and that I had just gone to a website about Scholastic Funding Group with many people complaining about the harassing phone calls and that if he called my number again, I would consider it harassment since my husband doesn't even have a student loan and report them to my and their State Attorney General's Office. I firmly repeated myself and said, "Are we clear?" He said yes and hung up the phone. So far, I haven't heard anything from them. I guess we'll see tomorrow if I get another call from them! BTW, my husband is not registered with anyone who would have given this company any info and has never taken a kaplan course. Wonder Mom

They called in the evenings and in the morning without leaving a message. They called my mobile. Thought I put my mobile number on the DoNotCall registry, so they are breaking the law?

Called three times in the morning of 2/7/07 (8:23, 9:21, 10:18), once evening of 2/6/07 (6:48), and three times in afternoon of 2/5/07 (3:52, 5:03, 5:46). They have too much time on their hands and this has already been a waste of time for me!

I tried calling back, but line was busy.

2007-02-07 01:54:57 UTCgrrrrr

i think i just got royally screwed. i get a call from this number and the first lady i talked to sounded filipino. she said something about consolidating student loans and that she had info about it. i wasn't sure if i had any outstanding loans (my finances were being taken care of by my parents and i recently graduated from college), so i went with it. eventually i got transfered to another lady and she said the same thing about loan consolidation. i told her i know nothing about my loans or if i even have any so she said that she could look up my info using my ss#. unfortunately i was preoccupied with doing something else and didn't even think twice to give it. she said something about not being able to find any info and suggested that it was under my parents' ss. at this point i started becoming skeptical so i didn't give any more info (very lucky i didn't). i said something like can we just call you back and she gave the following number: 866 362 3492 ext 113. i called that number and it was some random guy's answering machine. i don't even think the ext did anything. right after i got off the phone i thought to myself, "oh sh!t. what did i just do." so i get home and look up ss/identity fraud stuff/any info on this number. after reading a little bit i immediately contacted equifax and placed a fraud alert. seems like i'm the only idiot who actually gave them info. hope this doesn't screw me over for the rest of my life.

btw, i took a kaplan course also; took the mcats, too.

I recieved 15 calls from them in one day...what the heck??

2007-02-06 23:15:32 UTCNathaniel

So they called a 2nd time and I picked up... It was a delayed pick up like from a telemarketing agency.. I spoke with some woman who did not identify herself and she could have been in another country. She told me I had outstanding loans... and I said OK... (I have no loans whatsoever)...she then told me to hang on for 50 seconds.. Then I was connected to a smooth talking salesman telling me that they would consolidate my loans or something and get me the best rates and that my account number would be my 9 digit SS#. And then they asked me for my account number. I told the man that i didn't have any outstanding loans and that I thought they were a fraud and that I had gotten wind of this fraud online. The man was very calm in telling me that my number was given to them because I had recently taken a test.. Perhaps the MCATs sold my info?

Called us twice, once on 02-05-2007 at 9:30p and another 02-06-2007 right around the same time. Can't speak English, this HAS to be a scam. Talked about consolidating student loans and asking why I didn't yet. Don't give these people ANY INFORMATION. Also took the KAPLAN course. So either Kaplan sold the info or hackers breeched their data to setup this scam.

A seventh call came in today 2.6.2007. I finally picked up this one and they hung up right away. I think they were just testing to see if it was a working number.

And an eighth call at 11:49 am.

This eighth time I picked up and a woman with an accent spoke to me. She knew my name. I asked for the Woman's name - she said it was Maria Matt. I asked her to spell it and she spelled it M-A-T-T. She said she had information on my federally qualified loan and that she had information to reduce my monthly payment. I told her I didn't have a federally qualified loan!

I also told her that I reported their business to the Better Business Bureau. She said she respected that. I said oh yeah, I am also going to report you to the FBI and the police and you and your scam business are in trouble. She hung up.

Folks, send your reports in. Wicked, opportunistic people trying to scam us.

I finally talked to someone helpful at scholastic funding group. Apparently they have outsourced their telemarketing to an overseas call center whose dialing system is having technical problems and recalling the same numbers over and over. If you call the 1-800 number on their website you can get on their do not call list. It took about 2 days for the calls to stop but they have finally stopped. The website is in one of the comments above. The sooner you call them, the sooner it will stop. I just took the GMAT and a Kaplan review course and I'm guessing they sold my number. Bastards....

2007-02-03 08:49:26 UTCEnzo Troll

I like the obvious trolls posting on this board who work for Scholastic like Enzo. And the other guy telling us to pay up our loans. Even as identity theft scams go, this one is really lame. Id love to meet the braniacs behind the idea.

One look at their website and you know it's a front. If I click through like I am going to actually apply to consolidate loans, my browser alerts me not to, because of being re-routed to another unsecure website, etc. Shady operation, likely run by some poor losers trying to make a quick buck off of suckers.

2007-02-03 00:11:17 UTCSam

Just filed a complaint with the FCC. Please fill one out also here: fcc.gov

I also talked to the FBI and they said the agency who investigates identity theft is the Federal Trade Commission, and so I filed a complaint with them. DO that here: rn.ftc.gov

Just file those complaints until they take action.

2007-02-02 23:38:27 UTCSam

Everyone really needs to stop posting ads saying when and how many times they called you. We all need to contact the Federal Communications COmmission, Federal Bureau of Investigation, NJ Attorney General's Office to get to the bottom of it. For those of you who say it is not a scam simply because they kindly removed your number from the list, are dead wrong. The website has no address and blatantly asks for your social security number. So contact the above agencies and turn your energy into action and we will get these clowns busted and closed up for good. IMPORTANT QUESTION: IS EVERYONE HERE REGISTERED FOR LSAC, GMAT, or OTHER GRADUATE EXAM, or A PREPARATION CLASS FOR ANY OF THE ABOVE (like KAPLAN)? I am LSAC registered and Kaplan registered. I want to know who the fuck sold me out to these losers.

2007-02-02 20:02:47 UTCEnzo

Why yall so paranoid? Take time to listen!

2007-02-02 19:23:08 UTCChristina

This number called me 6 times today on my cell phone!! I answered the 5th time and some guy with an accent asked me about my college bills, of which, I have none. When I told him this, he hung up on me. Then called back 3 more times! This is harrassment.

2007-02-02 18:49:33 UTCDiana

Called me starting jan 30th every hour until I finially picked up. Something about student loans and when I told the person I was not interested the person was very rude, nasty and persistant in trying to obtain my personal info. After hanging up...they continued to call my cell every 10 mins and has been ongoing for three days now!!!!! This is ridiculous!!!

2007-02-02 17:16:28 UTCSam

They have called me 10 times in less than 24 hrs. They called early in the morning and late at night. Every time except the last they hung up. I tried to call back several times and either got a busy signal or the phoone rang and rang. This last time they called I got a person, she knew my full name, spoke very poor english and wanted to talk about my college loans, i told them i didn't have any and then they ask me if i had a stadford loan, which i also don't have. They identified themselves as from the scolastic funding company. i told them never to call me again.

2007-02-02 16:08:29 UTCTeajerk

If you use Google Earth and look up the Teaneck address, it just looks like a warehouse not a regular office building.

2007-02-02 15:41:43 UTCflyty

read comments from others up top. If they have info, why would they ask for SSN and credit card info? Don't worry, all they have is a name and a #. Still trying to find register agent in NJ. NJ doesn't make info easy to find at all... As soon as I have it, I'll let everyone know.

2007-02-02 15:32:32 UTCAnnoyed

The only thing I told them over the phone was whether I have student loans or not.

I hope that's the only thing they know about me, besides obviously my name and phone number.

2007-02-02 15:27:07 UTCflyty

definitely not legit. Why would they hound you if they're legit? Plus why is land line routing calls from Asia? Why is phone in Englewood, NJ when business is at Teaneck, NJ? Legit companies will obey the no-call registry law that is in effect. They obviously don't. Don't give them any info.

2007-02-02 15:20:18 UTCAnnoyed

so we still don't know whether this is a legit loan consolidation company (who is rather desperately trying to get new customers), or some shady dealer with not-too-noble intentions?

2007-02-02 14:58:37 UTCElizabeth

i'd like that info once you find it

2007-02-02 14:53:53 UTCflyty

ps. Yeah, I'm pressed... I've had to deal with this shit for a week. There's an old saying in Chinese "to take care of a problem, make sure you get to the root of it"

2007-02-02 14:52:22 UTCflyty

if you google "scholastic funding group, llc" careerbuilder.com pops up. They might have sold info to them. Plus it's only been a company since 2006, BBB does not have a record on them. Also, I'm really close to finding the owner of the business... Their address is in a office building. I'll bet that it's a call/mail forwarding center. Where you pay a monthly fee and they take messages and mail for you. I'm going to track the fucker down! Then maybe you guys can call him at all hours of the night.

2007-02-02 14:36:13 UTCElizabeth

same

2007-02-02 14:30:38 UTCAnnoyed

It's been about an hour and a half since they last called... *keeping fingers crossed*

2007-02-02 14:29:48 UTCElizabeth

i havent even talked to one of these people, they keep hanging up or are just silent for 30-45 seconds

2007-02-02 14:22:46 UTCElizabeth

this is so ridiculous

2007-02-02 14:20:09 UTCflyty

i told them to take me off their list and I got 7 calls in an hour. I was trying to find their fax number...

2007-02-02 14:19:17 UTCAnnoyed

I actually picked up one of their calls this morning, told them I'm not interested in consolidating loans and hung up. But since then I've gotten 5 more calls (in about 3 hours time).

2007-02-02 14:17:42 UTCflyty

trust me, a big part of my job is tracking people and finding scammers.

2007-02-02 14:16:24 UTCflyty

I understand that, and I believe you might have put it on a form. I don't know... maybe a resume or something. They can search those too, you know. Any way to get in contact with the person on the phone and try to rip them off.

2007-02-02 14:14:19 UTCAnnoyed

The thing that confuses me is that they are calling my CELL, and I don't put my cell number on any official forms.

2007-02-02 14:12:43 UTCflyty

Annoyed, listen... I think their whole operation is a scam out to get private information from people on the call list. It does not cost a lot to start an LLC. $150-200 That pretty much shield them from any lawsuits. You need a LLC or Inc. to start a business. After the LLC was obtained, they bought lists off of different groups. I suspect the LSAC because they were the only one I gave my number to. They might have bought the list off other institutions. They also set up a website, but there's no "contact us" info anywhere. I had to dig for their address. If you are on their website and you have firefox, and you click apply now. A warning will pop up saying that someone is probably monitoring your information. So I deduce that they are out to get your information from you. Most likely a fly by night operation. They have calls routed through a land line from another country to cut down on cost. Definitely do not volunteer any information. Tell them to go fuck their mothers.

2007-02-02 14:07:15 UTCElizabeth

I got a call from my bank a few days ago saying that my account number showed up on a list of possibly compromised identities...i wonder if this is connected

2007-02-02 14:02:51 UTCAnnoyed

A credit report just lets you see if anyone has been using your identity. I'm wondering if the fact that these guys have our names and # mean that our identity info has already been compromised.

But then again, if they have the info they need to do illegal stuff with our identity, then why call us trying to get our SS and credit card numbers? So I don't know whether I should be worried or not.

2007-02-02 13:59:24 UTCflyty

btw. info on the stupid company

2007-02-02 13:49:15 UTCflyty

also register your phone with the no call registry. donotcall.gov Here's why you should do that: "Once you have registered, your phone number registration will be
effective for 5 years. It will be illegal for most telemarketers to call you,
and you will be able to file a complaint if a telemarketer does call
you. The website donotcall.gov provides information about filing a
complaint."

2007-02-02 13:45:43 UTCflyty

The BBB= Better Business Bureau. You can file a complaint with them regarding a business' shady dealings. In my case it's harassment.

2007-02-02 13:37:49 UTCElizabeth

what does filing a credit report do?

2007-02-02 13:33:56 UTCflyty

I am fed up with them. If you want to do something about it. File a complaint with the BBB of NJ trenton.bbb.org I am also going to call the NJ police dept and register a complaint.

2007-02-02 13:32:10 UTCAnnoyed

I did some searches online and found this on the JHU website:

Those of us who's gotten calls, is it time for us to get a credit report?

2007-02-02 13:23:51 UTCElizabeth

the web page scholasticfundinggroup.com, though it looks legit is probably a scam. i called anna moses there are she didnt know the web page address and had to look it up. i wouldnt give her any info.

2007-02-02 13:20:53 UTCTj

Got about 10 phone calls from this number since this morning. Will give them a call later and I'll let you know what's going on. Very annoying.

2007-02-02 13:19:47 UTCAnnoyed

That can't be true, my school does not have my cell #.

2007-02-02 13:09:10 UTCElizabeth

my number isnt on facebook

would colleges give out this info?

i called the 866 number and the lady, anna moses (who is also a lying quack) said they get the numbers from schools....but she also said they arent doing the calling

2007-02-02 13:00:30 UTCAnnoyed

I don't think it has anything to do with gmac or lsat registrations; I'm not registered with either one and I am still getting repeated phone calls from them.

The fact that they are calling my CELL phone makes me think that they might have gotten the info off Facebook, since that's the only place where my cell # is divulged.

2007-02-02 12:58:26 UTCJack Black

IF you actually get to talk to someone, it'll be a woman from the Phillipines or somewhere with horrible English--who is clearly reading from a script. She will want your name, SS# and credit card details. I didnt provide any of this, but played along to see what they were doing. I then called the 866 number to have my # removed from their call list and the lady said it would take 1 month to take effect. WTF??? 1 month of this BS!!

2007-02-02 12:51:38 UTCElizabeth

man, i registered with lsac.org too

2007-02-02 12:47:24 UTCElizabeth

I have gotten about 8 calls from them today and last night (Feb 1 and 2). Half the time they just hang up, but one time there was a woman, who kept saying my name and asking if I could hear her? what the hell is this?

2007-02-02 12:42:03 UTCWharton

I got the bottom of my situation. I had registered at GMAC.com to take the GMAT last year. GMAC (which may be affiliated with LSAC?) is selling contact info to this Scholastic who just assumes since you took a test you have debts that they want to conslidate. Im not sure if thats the only reason they are calling, but it explains my situation

2007-02-02 12:39:21 UTCflyty

I called that 866 # to ask them to take me off their calling list. And since then, they've kick up their calling efforts. Fucking fudge packers are calling me 5x per hour now. Fucking inbreed pig fuckers.

2007-02-02 11:49:19 UTCRachel

They have called me 5 times in the last 24 hours including one at 3:00 am and 5:45 am (because I now live on the west coast). I went to nyu and used lsac.org years ago if that has any connection to anyone else.

2007-02-02 11:22:24 UTCaneudy

they called me 5 or six times in less than 24 hours. must be some kind of scam

2007-02-02 09:41:57 UTCStarr

This number has called me numerous times for the past 5 days and have not stopped even after I have told them many times that I don't have students loans and do not want them calling me anymore. Many times they call and then hang up immediately- Very annoying

2007-02-02 09:06:41 UTCMirar

They have called three time in less than 12 hours. I have not answered, but they didn't leave a messge. Based on what everyone else is saying I can see why. I also do not have any loan.

2007-02-02 08:54:55 UTCM

they've called as many as 11 times in one day between the hours of 11 am and 9 pm. They call nonstop and when asked to remove my name from their list, they refused and asked for just one good reason why I don't want to consolidate and want my name removed from their list.

2007-02-01 20:55:31 UTCMatt

Called at 9:27pm... definitely out of the legal time to solicit me! And its a freakin cell phone.

2007-02-01 18:21:22 UTCVirginia

I called 866-363-5659 but they said they needed my phone number in order to remove me from their call list. I didn't give it because they already have it. Anyone know what state this company is based out of?

2007-02-01 17:04:59 UTCZach

The lady I got transferred to tried get my social security #, I didn't give it, and they're still calling me. Four times today!

2007-02-01 15:13:50 UTCJoe

I followed the above advice and called 1-866-362-5659 and said I have received calls from the 201 number. They said it was their company and asked about studend loans. I said no loans and she said she would put me on their do not call list. They asked for my number (the one they've been calling) but didn't ask for my name. It seemed to me that they have probably here from several others about this same nonsense.

They keep calling and, I refuse to answer the phone though. Who are these people?

2007-02-01 11:58:34 UTCMeredith

They called my cell phone about student loans. When i told them I didn't have any, they asked to speak with someone else in my household. I had already told them it was my cell and not to call again. They have called 4 times since.

They have called me four times in the last three days. The first time they called they told me I had student loans...but I don't. The man was going to argue with me. I think this is a scam where they try to get your social....DON'T FALL FOR IT!

2007-02-01 10:37:26 UTCD

This # calls my cell at least 10-15 times a day for the past 3 days...person was extremly nasty when I told them not to call and now they keep calling even more!

2007-02-01 10:23:37 UTCJeff

so i have been getting phone calls from these guys for the past few days, i just called 1-866-362-5659 and asked them if the the 201-266-0965 number was a part of their company. They said yes. I asked them to remove my number from the list. The operator knew my name and number when she pulled it up from the computer. Apparantly if you are in college they take your name from a database and keep calling you until they can get you on the phone. It isn't a scam just really shitty telemarketing... so if you want them to stop calling just call up their help and register a complaint. Hope that helps

2007-02-01 09:58:47 UTCMatt from KY

This is my second post.I picked up my 6th call from this number at 5:00pm last night and screamed into the phone that I called the New Jersey State Police and hung up. I have now gone 16 hours and counting without a call.

these cocksuckers have called me over and over again for the past few days. i called the number posted on this site (886)633-5237 and spoke with somebody at Scholastic Funding Group. the lady i spoke with confirmed the 201 number was indeed their call center in the Philippines. i informed her i had reported this to the no not call list as i am on that list and this is unacceptable. she told me they would remove me from their system and it would not happen again. i encourage all of you to do the same. if i continue to get calls from the bastards i will be sure to let you all know. best luck.

2007-02-01 09:02:16 UTCJohn

5 or 6 calls from this number now. They just keep hanging up and its busy when I call back. So frustrating!

2007-02-01 01:46:29 UTCPeter

They called me last night around 10pm and and twice tonight around 9pm. I was getting annoyed so I answered and they did the same routine of telling me I had unpaid student loans. I told them I didn't have any and they said they would update their computer and hung up. I also asked what their name was but I couldn't make it out over all the background noise. What is this BS?

2007-01-31 23:23:51 UTCPhilip

I've recieved 2 calls from them, both in reference to student loans (however I don't have any). The 2nd time I advised them I to put me on a do not call list.

2007-01-31 23:12:24 UTCEP

They have called me 6 times since Jan 29. I talked to a woman once who claimed to have news about my student loans. When I denied I had student loans through them she said it "must be someone else in my household." I told her I had nothing to do with them and she said she'd "take care of it." They have called 4 times since then, but it is disconnected when I answer.

This is my third post. Ive told these people 3 times to leave me alone but they keep calling. The first two times it was an oriental sounding woman on the other end. This time an oriental sounding man. I told him the names of the first two women who called and he said they had no agents by those names working for his company. Really? I asked. Then how in the heck did they manage to call me from the same number your calling me from? He said that it was probably someone trying to pretend to be his company, trying to scam me. WOW! He gave himself away. This call I told him i knew it was a scam and to not call me again or I would take action!... so we'll see if that works. Im sure ill be updating soon!

I called Scholastic Funding Group and they seemed a bit confused by all of this too. Just to be sure, I asked them to take me off their list as well. This is getting ridiculous.

Hello, some man with an accent called from this number...and I thought he might be legit from a law school or something because I have never gotten a call from a telemarketer at 8:00am. He said "do you have any student loans". I said "1 I think". He said "How much is it". I promptly hung up. Since then I have gotten multible calls and everytime I answer to let them have it, they just hang up. I have tried calling them back and it's bussy or just rings.

2007-01-31 13:11:07 UTCpissed off

some group talking about student loans... I have 6 kids. I work fulltime. Why would I need studen loans?

2007-01-31 12:30:48 UTCGrady

Called my cell 6x in one day. Wanted to consolidate student loans.

2007-01-31 12:24:31 UTCBrian

Called when I was in the john, taking a leak, I did not wish to place down my one eyed snake to answer.

2007-01-31 11:38:40 UTCJesica

To anyone who called the NJ BBB...what did they say??

2007-01-31 11:36:46 UTCEm

They have called me 11 times in the past 48 hours. Once I answered, could barely understand the woman and only got that she was talking about something with student lones and i hung up. but nevertheless they have kept calling. anyone have any suggestions to make them stop? I am beyond annoyed

2007-01-31 11:07:59 UTCRoss

this number called me two times this morning, no messages...i called back and just got a ring and busy tone...weird. 1/31

2007-01-31 10:47:43 UTCTrey

You can read my 1st post above. They called me back again this morning. Gave me a different phone number to their corporate office...888-633-5237. Once again not a working number! I also asked them what their website address was she got nervous and spouted out scholastic.com The Real Scholastic Funding Groups Website is scholasticfundinggroup.com. This is definitely a scam. I am 100% sure it was the same lady i talked to yesterday. Although today her name was Jeanie Smith. Dont FAll For It!

2007-01-31 10:00:11 UTCLW

I received 1 call from this number, it was listed as name unknown but the number displayed on my cell (call rec'd 9:50 AM, 1/31). The caller did not leave a message.

2007-01-31 09:54:29 UTCscott

they called me 7 times in 24 hours. finally answered and talked to them about student loans i never even had. they asked for a credit card number so i started giving random numbers until the guy hang up on about the 30th number i gave him.

2007-01-31 09:13:30 UTCMATT

2007-01-31 08:56:33 UTCMS

2007-01-31 01:58:02 UTCh

2007-01-30 23:24:15 UTCDerek

called 4 times- from 1/28 to 1/30/2007. I called back three times- the first time they hung up. The second time i called back it was busy (i guess calling one of you) and the last time i called it kept ringing.

2007-01-30 22:57:12 UTCJustin

This number called me at a late hour on my cell phone. When I try to call back, they are always busy. They stated that they were with Scholastic Funding Group. This is no doubt a SCAM!!!

2007-01-30 22:54:35 UTCMike

These guys called me also at 9:45 I didn't really care but the number is from NJ. They'd better not call in the middle of the night or i'm picking up and givin em hell.

2007-01-30 22:35:09 UTCAL

They called me at 8:20 PM regarding my student loans. I hung up once and they called again. They stated they were something like "Scholastic funding". They tried to tell me that they were part of the same company that manages my student loans. Watch out this may be a scam!

2007-01-30 22:17:55 UTCRenee

I called the toll line for the scholastic funding group and the operator was laughing when he picked up the phone. Does not sound professional to me. Now are these the same people running the scam? Or are they just using this company as a front.

2007-01-30 22:12:05 UTCKim

I've gotten the same phone call two days in a row. I've actually missed the call both times, which is why I decided to look up the phone number and found this site. Don't know who they are, what they do etc. They call at 8PM for me though.

2007-01-30 22:10:20 UTCRenee

They called me five times today. Did not leave any messages. When I called back I get a busy number but if this is about loans I dont have any at all. I think this is a scam. Do not give out any of your information!

2007-01-30 22:10:17 UTCEvelyn

They have called me three times, always at the EXACT same time each day. They hang up before I can answer...

2007-01-30 21:45:34 UTCLydia

they've called me 7 times in the past two days. this is ridiculous!

2007-01-30 20:55:52 UTCJesica

So they just called again. When the woman told me her name...I asked her to spell it, she freaked out, asked if I had loans. I said no, and asked her how she got my # and she paniced and hung up...

scholasticfundinggroup.com

Is there website

2007-01-30 20:41:38 UTCAhmed

this # called 1 7 times since 8 am this morning!!! No idea who it is,

2007-01-30 20:41:26 UTCTom

They just called me for the fourth time and I was finally able to answer. They said they were a company that could help me consolidate student loans. Thing is, I don't have any, not a one; I went to a service academy. I let the lady do her schtik where she asked me for my name, social, and credit card number. This is a scam for ID theft. That's my verdict.

2007-01-30 20:38:04 UTCJesica

They called me 6 times today! No messages left, and I also heard this was something about student loans...which is funny because I dont have any!

2007-01-30 20:23:56 UTCEnzo

They called me six times but i wasnt able to answer. On the 7th time, i got the chance to answer and they seem pretty nice. They asked me if i have student loans. If you give them time to listen, you will find them real courteous.

2007-01-30 20:01:58 UTCcaitlin

this number has called my cellphone 6 times today, once about every hour. they leave no messages, and i haven't called them back, and don't plan on it.

2007-01-30 19:54:58 UTCRone

These people are annoying me!! They have called me six times during a twelve hour period!! Who the heck are they??

2007-01-30 19:42:21 UTCChristine

This is weird. They called me 5 times within the last 6 hours. Isn't this a North Jersey area code??

2007-01-30 19:31:47 UTCJenny

I have been called 6 times today and i finally picked up teh last call and they hung up, can we report this?

2007-01-30 19:10:19 UTCGina

2007-01-30 19:06:23 UTCkevin

2007-01-30 18:37:49 UTCFry

They finally talked this time when I answered, its a SCAM!! They wanted to talk to me about my oustanding student loans, but I don't have ANY student loans! Don't give them ANY information at all.

2007-01-30 18:29:06 UTCJason

5 times they called me in 10 hours. no voicemail left.

2007-01-30 18:15:08 UTCMichelle

Please help, these people have been calling me all day--5 times to be exact. They never leave a message. I am afraid to answer because I do not know anyone in Jersey. The calls started early this am and are lasting through late evening.

2007-01-30 18:14:49 UTCSK

They have called me a few times and they hang up. Please tell me what is going on here.

2007-01-30 18:08:47 UTCJess

Called me 3x today on my cell, ridiculous. Once in the morning, another during the middle of class, and one just now. No one was ever on the other side when I answered the phone.

2007-01-30 17:58:26 UTCTrey

Called me a few times. Left no message. I finally answered. Lady didnt speak very good english. Almost sounded oriental. Said her name was King Nashville. Said the companies name was Scholastic Funding Group. I asked her for the Corporate Phone number she gave me (886)633-5237. Called that number to find that its not a working number. My Advice is to google the Scholastic Funding Group for it is an actual company dealing with student loans. Contact information is available on the website. If you feel your identity is in jeopardy call and ask them to check their records to see if they have contacted you recently. Always Remember not to ever give your social security number out over the phone!

2007-01-30 17:40:30 UTCJenn

They called me four times today, never left a message, once around 10am, 1, 4, and 6pm. Never had this problem before today.

2007-01-30 14:52:10 UTCLucy

They just called me and I answered (after missing 2 of their previous calls). They also told me I had outstanding student loans with the Scholastic Funding Group. When I asked who I was speaking to, the lady said "Sharo Echo Tango". I reported to do not call, but is there anywhere else we can report these calls to shut them down?

2007-01-30 14:39:09 UTCAmie

They have now called me three times while at work. Don't leave a message and it's busy when I call back. Sounds pretty shady. If anyone is on the Do Not Call list and they're calling you, you can report them.

2007-01-30 14:39:01 UTCPate

They have called me 3X's. I have looked up the area code an it is from New Jersey. The biggest problem is that they are calling while I am in meetings. They leave no message!

2007-01-30 14:37:32 UTCJoe

Called 2:58 pm 1-30-07, 11:48 am 1-30-07, 8:33 am 1-30-07. No message, returned call and got constant busy signal.

2007-01-30 12:29:26 UTCAmy

I received a call from this number last night at 9:28pm CST and again this afternoon at 12:16pm CST. I looked up the number on Whitepages.com, but the information was unlisted. Does anyone have any information on this?

2007-01-30 12:13:37 UTCLauren

They have called twice this morning, once while I was already on the phone. The "beeping in" of the call waiting for this number did not sound like any other, oddly enough, and would randomly beep and then give me a dial tone, making it difficult for me to understand the person I was talking to begin with.

2007-01-30 12:00:25 UTCRobin

I got 2 missed calls from this number and have no idea why someone from NJ would be calling me

2007-01-30 11:24:25 UTCJ

2007-01-30 10:43:03 UTCKristen

they called 2x now-January 29, 2007 at 7:52pm and today January 30, 2007 at 10:28am. I did not answer either time, as I did not recognize the number, who are they?
